Comme des Garcons has long been considered one of the premier labels in Japanese fashion, as it has been one of the few Japanese domestic labels to achieve worldwide recognition in the fashion industry at large. Rei Kawakubo’s company expanded from simple roots to acclaim around the world, and a staple in the fashion world. The Japanese domestic fashion market in general has always been a little different from the world at large, sometimes for the better, other times for the worse. Nevertheless, Japan has always been a mover and shaker in the fashion world, especially in streetwear, and this latest release from Comme des Garcons is definitely something interesting. Featuring Osomatsu-kun, a popular Japanese manga character from the 1960s, these shoes may not have much appeal for those outside Japan, but for the Japanese, this is definitely a real nostalgia piece. Even for those that haven’t watched the anime, or read the manga, these shoes are definitely something different and exciting, and are now available at Colette’s eshop in both low and high top versions. Ha I like the da shoes. They would turn heads for sure! Reminds me of the Superstar 35th Anniversary Expression Series #09 Captain Tsubasa. Those bad boys were sick.
