Before the Cavaliers, and before St. Vincent’s high school games being watched by the likes of Michael Jordan and other superstars, LeBron was playing basketball in a kids basketball league back in 1992. At 8 years old, LeBron James was playing on the Summit Lake Hornets, where he began sculpting and developing what would become some of the best skills the NBA has ever seen. Nike is commemorating his times there with a special Summit Lake Hornets Edition of the Zoom LeBron Solder II. A pair found its way onto ebay not long ago but no word on availability or if it would ever release was included. Nike surprised us this morning by putting up a few sizes on nikestore.com similar to the last few special released of the Zoom LeBron Soldier II. Act fast as numbers are very limited.

Jordan Brand is always keeping it fresh for all of their athletes, even if the athlete doesn’t have their own signature line. For this season, Jordan Brand has cooked up the new Jumpman Elite I for 2009, that should be seen on most Jordan Brand sponsored athletes in the coming months. Two colorways are releasing today, on one in a white, metallic silver, black and red and another in black, metallic silver and red. The shoe features a leather upper, with patent leather around the toe and a sole reminds us a little of the Air Jordan 2009. Look for them at your Jordan accounts today as well as on nikestore.com.

Visvim has risen to critical acclaim on the strength of two classic designs: their FBT takes the chukka to an entirely new level, while the Kiefer capitalizes on a Chuck Taylor-like silhouette. Appopriating another standby in collaboration with French boutique Colette, the Visvim Hockney Folk is a distressed take on the long-standing boat shoe concept.
These rock a navy blue, brick red and white colourway, which is supposed to represent the French flag, but reminds us more of Nike’s do-ups for USA Basketball and other Olympians from the States. These are perfect whether you’re a yankee or rep the Bastille. They’ll even work if you’ve got some kind of split-personality thing going on. The only catch is that because this is a Euro Exclusive, the size 8 pair we found on eBay is going for $631 US, so folks might think you’re crazy no matter what. Via IndividualSole

The Air Jordan I has been making its presence felt in many shapes, forms and fashions lately. Already re-released in its original colorways as well as many new versions, including several low models, the Air Jordan I is back in a unique velcro low-top. The upper is constructed from premium black leather with hints of red and a white sole, but the focal point is, of course, the two velcro straps to keep them on your feet. If you are a fan of the vintage velcro look or you’re just sick of having to tie your shoes, these are available now at Lowtex.

Just when you think Nike has exhausted all their options when coming up with new looks for ever-popular Dunk Hi, they come up with something new to keep the style evolving. The latest Dunk features premium nylon materials on the uppers and will be freshly dipped in bright neon colors. Two nylon pairs have shown up in previews, one in black with bright green and zitron highlights and the other in metallic platinum with fluorescent red and blue accents. In what may be their simplest skate shoe yet, Nike has taken it back to basics with the Drifter 6.0. Quite possibly inspired by some classic Vans models, the Drifter takes that old school look, but modernizes it with a few choice touches. The most noticeable of which is the stitching on the upper and the scribble graphics on the tongue and heel. The shoe also utilizes a suede upper and striped vulcanized midsole and comes with some very cool patterned laces. The Drifter will be available in three colorways for starters. Black/glass blue/red, pine/white and orion blue/purple versions will be available sometime in Fall ’09 at Vagant and other select retailers.

Adidas Lightning Creator West + Bounce Commander East
Similar to the way some people watch the Super Bowl just for the commercials, some sneakerheads may watch the NBA All-Star Game just to see the crazy kicks. Each year, while the East and West are battling for pride, the sneaker brands fight for exposure, premiering new products and outfitting their players with some of the most outrageous PE’s imaginable.
Keeping up with the tradition of attention-grabbing All-Star sneakers, adidas will introduce the Bounce Commander and Lightning Creator in both East and West colorways at this year’s All-Star Weekend in Phoenix. The Commander is a great big man’s shoe, engineered for maximum cushioning and worn by a who’s who of elite NBA centers such as Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett. The Lightning Creator, on the other hand, is built for speed and worn by slashers like Tracy McGrady, Derrick Rose and Chauncey Billups. Both pairs, as mentioned earlier will come in Silver/Sunset Blue for the East and Desert Red/Gold for the West and will be available at retailers nationwide. via Freshness.
