Adidas follows the trend of the re- retro hybrid by releasing one of their most classic models in a new, yet familiar colorway. The latest Adidas Gazelle borrows a color scheme strikingly familiar to another classic Adidas model, the Micropacer! For this release the Gazelle drops its usual suede upper for a new metallic silver leather one. The infamous three stripes are featured in light blue to match the heel tab, while the shoes out sole goes with a bold bright red. The Adidas ‘Micropacer’ Gazelle can now be found at select Adidas accounts including Styles.

In 2009 Converse will continue to using iconic Rock Bands as inspirations for new designs on their classic shoe, the Chuck Taylor All Star.  The latest of these collaborations appears to be with the groups; AC/DC and Metallica. Most of the shoes feature the classic canvas high top upper with various album artwork and band logos as decoration. Expect these to release at Converse accounts this Fall. Photos by Vagant.

When we showed you another pair of Nike Twilight runners earlier today, we praised them from breaking away from the classic colourway we’d seen earlier in favor of something fresh.  This pair features the same raspberrylicious photo blue but swaps the grey for pink and black.  Similar to a pair of Air Max 90s from last month, but with an ever so slightly more “contemporary” effect.  With more releases like these, the Twilight might spawn hybrid babies of its own in years to come.  For now, you can peep several angles after the jump, then cop em from size?

Yesterday was all about shattering barriers, and part of that strength comes from knowing we can always look back on our misconceptions and laugh.  In the seventeen years since Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes made us laugh in White Men Can’t Jump, that phrase has been proven wrong many times, most notably by 1996 NBA Slam Dunk Contest winner Brent Barry.  However dated, the movie stands as a time capsule depicting the early ’90s streetball style and these Nike Flight Lite High kicks come with a funky throwback colourway.

Limited to 72 pairs and part of Nike’s Media Pack, which we’ll have more info on soon, this is one of the zaniest releases we’ve seen all year.  A super high white basketball sneaker that screams “Nineteen ninety!”, the Flight Lite WMCJ edition rocks orange, yellow, purple and silver accents.  Throw in a multicoloured sole with some icy inserts, and a look at the sole with a big “Nike AIR” logo right in the middle will do the trick.  Back to 1992, by way of Osneaker, who are among the lucky few with these in stock now.

Converse continues their collaborations with highly influential and historic rock bands. The latest release includes two different Chuck Taylor models inspired by the legendary British Rock Band, The Who. Both models start with the classic white canvas high top Chuck Taylor All Star. The first features extra red and blue fabric carefully stitched upon the upper to create the image of the British Flag. The second replaces the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star logo with The Who’s ‘Bulls eye’ logo. The Who Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars are available now at Converse dealers such as HUF.

Adidas Skateboarding offers technologically advanced skateboarding shoes in some of Adidas’ most classic models. The latest of these releases is the Black and White Gazelle Skate. The shoe features an all black suede upper, resting on a white midsole with a Soft Cell Heel Cushion. The interior features a Geofit collar lining and a Shock Absorbing PU Sock Liner for extra comfort. The Black and White Adidas Skateboarding Gazelle Skate shoes are available now at DQM.

The Air Foamposite One is arguable one of Nike Basketball’s most successful designs of all time. When it was first released in the 90s, it was one of the most radical shoe designs of all time. With an ultra lightweight design, futuristic styling, and some very interesting materials, instantly developed quite the following. With a great colorway, and a clear sole, these are some of the hottest Retros from Nike in a while. There’s definitely a pretty hardcore Foamposite following out there, and the general consensus seems to be that Nike got these right on. While they are officially scheduled for early February 2009 release, for those of you who can’t wait for the ‘eggplant’ Air Foamposite One, it looks they’ve already started to hit eBay.

It’s clear now that Nike Sportswear, and the Swoosh in general are paying attention to the needs of lady sneaker fiends.  Gone are the days of “pink and shrink”, and instead we’re being treated to some joints that make dudes jealous.

An earlier pair of Icons edition Dunk His was a winter winner with woolen side panels and here’s another Icons limited edition release with a different take on shutterworthy side panels.  Yellow and white share the starring role, with a silver Swoosh laid over a glossy nylon side panel.  They are probably all yellow, but the horizontal ridging gives them a white sheen — just like an ancient big screen TV.  Whether you’re reading this on an LCD, plasma, CRT or a white wall, you can see a bunch of pics after the jump and then head over to  mita to grab yours now.

The Nike Air Penny retros have always been well received, so when pictures surfaced two weeks ago depicting a mashup of the Air Penny series (plus the legendary Foamposite One), anyone would have been glad to shell out the 1/2 Cent that gives this hybrid its name.  The general consensus is: this is a fantastic shoe and one of the best hybrids we have seen, but sneakerheads agree that the $190 price is a tough lump to swallow.  Larry Love over at Harlem’s Vault was recently given a pair as a gift (from whom, we may never know), so his Vault cohort Jon-Jon took some excellent pics showing as many details as you’d care to view.  Of note is the full sized L’il Penny emblazoned on the heel.  They’re waiting for you after the jump, and be sure to check back with Sneaker News while the world waits for an exact release date.

For those of you who have been reading Sneaker News long enough to remember the tagline “The CNN of Sneakers” knows we don’t get into politics.  For obvious reasons, this will continue, and for other obvious reasons, we will make an exception today.

Many of us are elated by witnessing an unprecedented event as Barack Obama was elected the 44th President of the United States of America.  Thank goodness Converse decided to commemorate the occassion with an Inaugural Edition pack of Converse CX Professoinal Leather Vulcs.  Just like this post, when you wear these, no one will know whether you’re voting for fashion, supporting the President, or both.

Appearing in clean white/black and black/white colourways in both high and lowtops, they are a classy addition to your wardrobe just in time forall the balls tonite.  No word yet on any release details, or if they might be an “Obama PE”, so to speak — stay tuned for updates.  Pics via Converse Blog

While they’re not directly inspired by the “Taxi Cab” Nike Zoom Lebron VIs we saw last week, were you riding in a cab, this new pack from Vans is exactly the sort of thing you’d notice.  The Vans Caution Pack consists of iconic models the Era, Chukka & Sk8-Hi.  Each is done in black: a mixture of leather and suede.  Yellow striped accents in the familiar “CAUTION” pattern give this pack its name.  Another interesting take on these can’t-miss models, they’re ready now at Flauge.
