Converse Skateboarding CONS Skate Shoe Sample

As Converse has recently gotten themselves into the skateboard shoe game with CONS Skateboarding, it has been interesting to see what direction they take in order to differentiate themselves from giants like Nike SB and Vans.  A sample pair of CONS low-top skateboarding shoes have recently surfaced that reveals a relatively fresh take on the classic construction of a skate shoe.  The sample pair comes in a grey color with sections of suede, leather and perforated leather throughout the upper along with the Converse star symbol on the side-panel.  Stay tuned to Sneaker News for more information regarding this and other upcoming CONS Skateboarding kicks.  via theconverseblog

Vans Forty Four Hi West VS. East Crooks VS. 5BORO

In the mid 90s Vans strayed away from their ever popular vulcanized soles and experimented with innovative cup sole designs. One of the products from this venture is the Vans Forty Four Hi Model. The Forty Four Hi aims to blend high end style, with top notch performance. To start out 2009, Vans is dropping some new Forty Four Hi models guest designed by some better known Vans aficionados from around the World. A drop so huge that it is creating a contest of sorts to see who came up with the best design. All of these guest designers have a unique approach stemming from different backgrounds and cultures that affiliate them with the brand. First off we have two models from the West Coast, one designed by street wear veterans Crooks and Castles, and a second designed by a mystery shop. Next are a couple of models to represent the East Coast, the first designed by the infamous NYC skate crew 5BORO, and the second being another mystery shop design. Finally to round things out, the last Forty Four model of the set (not pictured) is designed by UK professional skateboarder Danny Wainwright, who arguably holds a World Record for the highest ollie. All these Vans Forty Four’s are scheduled to release for Spring 2009. However, the West Coast inspired designs will be available at only West Coast shops, while the East Coast’s will be available at only East Coast accounts. Lastly, Danny Wainwright’s design will be available at all of those shops who elect to carry it. As a bonus, the Crooks and 5Boro models will be released along side matching tees. Info: Vans

Nike SB Dunk Low x Brooklyn Projects

Nike SB is a brand that is notorious for their numerous collaborations that have produced countless memorable designs. However, collaborations with actual Skate Shops and Boutiques have been few and far between. Ending 2008 with tee shirt collabs by street wear champions such as Rogue Status and The Hundreds, Brooklyn Projects is not attempting to slow down in 2009. Apparently Brooklyn Projects is the next lucky Skate Shop to put their spin on the ever popular Nike SB Dunk. A teaser photo has just been leaked highlighting the shoes toe box. It appears from the photo that the shoe will feature an earth tone colorway; using green leather on the front panel, brown nubuck on the eyestay, and a heavily weathered yellow brown leather on the toe box and quarter panels. Of course the shoes are topped off with a dark yellow pair of the new super durable Nike SB Kevlar laces. Still, a lot remains to be seen, since it is unclear if this release is a low, mid, or high top version. However, it will not be long before we see more of these, the Nike SB Dunk by Brooklyn Projects is scheduled to release this March at select Nike SB accounts and Brooklyn Projects retail stores. Info: CtotheJL

Update: We’ve already written about the Dunk SB x Brooklyn Projects before we knew they were a Brooklyn Projects collaboration. Thanks to JR for the catch. Full photos below..
