Earlier this week, we gave you a look at the upcoming Nike Cortez multi-pack, and now we have some images of the Overkill storefront as they gear up for the release event. In addition to the promotional graphics painted on the store windows, the super-cool Cortez Brothers figures are proudly displayed in extra large fashion. These figures are an imaginative creation that uses design elements of the Cortez to bring two lovable toy characters to life. One Cortez Brother reps the old school classic navy version while the other is freshly dipped in the space age silver of the new and improved version. If you want to get a closer look, the party kicks off this Friday at Overkill.

With hybrid sneakers, the thinking goes, “If these two pairs are dope, they’ll be even doper mashed-up!” Air Jordan Fusions and other hybrids are one of the major trends in sneakers today, but few folks realize Nike has been doing this for almost twenty years. Following a slightly altered logic, the Swoosh has released two Quickstrike editions of a classic hybrid, the Nike Air Huarache Light Burst. Appearing in a tonal grey upper with white laces and midsole, this is the cool counterpart to the more aggressive red & black pair. These are available in a few more sizes than the nearly sold out black joints, so take a look at the other shots after the jump, then head to atmos before it’s too late!

An overlooked piece of the Air Max legacy is back in two classic colorways. When it was originally released in 1992, the Air Max ST was the most technologically advanced Air Max shoe to date. It was built for optimum absorption with the largest Air heel unit ever used and also had an Air unit in the front, though only the heel bubble was visible. The ST also used Nike’s Footbridge technology and a sockliner tongue to further maximize its comfort and performance. Grossly overshadowed by other retro Air Max’s, its finally time for the Air Max ST to reclaim its place at the table. Both a white/black and dark grey/black version will be available at Opium this May, with hopefully more colors to follow. via eukicks.

If the dark winter color schemes have got you down, Nike will brighten up your day once again with this preview of an electric set of turquoise gems. The Air Max Light and Court Force Hi are back in their most startling incarnations yet. Both pairs lean on a healthy dose of turquoise with yellow accents further illuminating the palette. The icing on the cake comes in the form of metallic silver polka-dots decorating the uppers. If vibrant colors are your thing, look out for these stunners at Vagant later this year.

Nike has once again figured out how to fuse two of their classic models into an intriguing single design. The latest fusion blends elements of the Air Wildwood and Air Pegasus, brilliantly uniting two previously unrelated favorites that apparently have more design compatibility than anyone could have ever realized. The tan suede version previewed a few days back has more of a trail look, while this fresh Black/Medium Blue/Flint Grey shoe was obviously built for the street. We can only hope that Nike has more tricks up their sleeve as they continue to celebrate the anniversary of the ACG line. Available now at Gettry.

adidas keeps the retros coming with the release of the cult-classic, Torsion Racer. The shoe that turned heads back in 1991 with its “open top” design is back in its original white/green colorway. This sneaker was truly ahead of its time and almost twenty years later, still looks innovative even by today’s standards. The Torsion Racer has a very clean look with a nice modern twist, but don’t overlook its performance capabilities. This lightweight sneaker was one of the first adidas models to use Torsion technology and is built for supreme comfort and breathability.

Last week, we showed you the Nike Air Max 90 Current Huarache ND, which is a hybrid of no fewer than three shoes. While hybridization has become extremely popular lately, Nike has been doing it in some capacity for nearly two decades. Here we see a reissue of the Nike Air Huarache Light Burst, originally released back in 1993. This Quickstrike appears in a black upper with patent leather around the entire vamp and sports red accents and a white midsole. So exclusive that most sizes are already sold out, you can check atmos to see if they have your fit.

Sneakerheads and fashion fiends were roaming the streets of Barcelona, Spain last week, visiting the booths at the biannual Bread & Butter streetwear trade show. Among the stronger showings was New Balance, who continue to find sweet spots while using mostly the same desingns they always have. Notable amongst these is the elegant blue and grey 1400 (above, bottom-left), gussied up with reflective 3M material by the newly-NB-owned DDC Design Lab. Have a look at all the new colourways courtesty of CT, and stay tuned for release info.

It’s been design trend de jour to hybridize sneakers into boots, and now what may be the ultimate sneaker has hopped onto the bandwagon. Taking the vamp an eyelet higher, applying tough materials and putting it atop a rugged outsole makes the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Boot look serious. Perfect for a nasty fall or winter day, Vagant expects these in Q3/Fall 2009. Be sure to take a look at all the different colourways after the jump, and stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates.

adidas Superstars rode the feet of Run DMC to the heights of Air Jordans, Chuck Taylors and other seminal sneakers, but they did so almost exclusively in black. Around that same time, the first wave of hip-hop/b-boy culture was transitioning into a more commerically viable expression. B-boys loved the flash of gold and snakeskin, and now the set is complete.
Some twenty years after their 80′s heyday, adidas brings back the Superstar in a wicked red faux-lizard upper. It looks especially good with deep burgandy laces and brick red Stripes, but it’s not alone either. Along for the reptilian ride are the Campus and Stan Smith models. The opposite of real life, Stan Smith appears in all black save the white sole, while the Campus brings the whole theme together by mixing golden “skin” with tonal accents. Stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates as the release approaches. Pics via HB
