When the word “mayor” comes up in typical conversations between people are not engaged in the sneaker world, the image that usually comes to mind is figures such as Michael Bloomberg or Rudy Giuliani. Conversations and colloquials between sneaker fiends tend to be a little different, however, when it comes to words like “mayor”, as the The Mayor is known as a person who owns one of the dopest collections of Air Force 1s in existence. It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything from the Mayor, who whose enormous Air Force 1 collection of samples, tier zeroes and quickstrikes was made official by his 1000th AF1 designed for him by Nike Sportswear and DJ Clark Kent.
The Mayor couldn’t help but go back into the Nike iD Bespoke studio at 21 Mercer Street to design some new Air Force 1s to add to his ever-growing collection. Being an Air Force 1 addict proves to be a pretty fun habit to have, as Mayor quickly began to mix and match colors, textures and materials within 21 Mercer.
The first of three Air Force 1s Mayor thought up during his last visit is this infrared and teal design that thoroughly exploits the fresh array of lux materials available at the Bespoke studios. Let’s start with the sole, where we can see how Mayor uses the clear, icy treatment on the mid-sole with infrared stitching and keeps the out-sole colored solidly in teal. Moving on to the upper, you can see the infrared useage on the front and mid-panels along with the heel-tab. Teal accents the entire upper in the stitching as well as on the entire Swoosh, laces and “Nike Air” on the back. Topping it all off is metallic silver on the back panel, which adds a fresh flavor to the entire shoe.
Note how all the materials look more luxurious than what we typically see on standard Air Force 1s. This is because the Bespoke studio allows the designer, like the did with Mayor, to use the best materials Nike Sportswear has to offer. If you’re feeling jealous of The Mayor for creating and obtaining this 1 of 1 Air Force 1, don’t worry, just make an appointment at the Bespoke studio located within 21 Mercer.
