Nike Air Force 09 Low Basketball Sneaker

Nike released the Air Force 25 three years ago as an updated version of the seminal Air Force 1 in honour of their best selling shoe’s silver anniversary.  This new model appears to be an updated version of said update.  The Nike Air Force 09 Low is familiar, yet altogether new, offering a sleek take on the classic AF1 silhouette.  Notable among the updates is the sleek new toebox design, which on the black and varsity blue pair looks especially like the Zoom Kobe IV.  Along with that pair is one in the immortal all-white colourway and another in white and Carolina blue  All three are now available at NikeStore.

Nike Skateboarding (SB) April 2009 Releases

With its life-giving showers just around the corner, here we see a glimpse into some of April’s offerings from Nike SB.  Of the three pictured in this post, two represent the culmination of the latest Nike SB Custom Series.  Justin Brock’s ‘Workwear’ Nike SB Dunk Mid Pro is a perfect match for any Carhartt gear in its low key denim and suede construction.  The other Custom Series release is Grant Taylor’s breathtaking Nike SB Blazer Elite.  Rounding out this group is the Dunk High that looks an awful lot like the cancelled Heaven’s Gate send-up.  Set to drop in a couple weeks, these are available now at Flatspot.

Air Jordan 1 Do the Right Thing Pack Metallic Red Detailed Pictures

Commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Spike Lee film’s theatrical release, the Air Jordan 1 Do the Right Thing Pack is set to drop in July.  Here we get a closer look at the metallic red version.  Laid atop white pebbled leather, we see that the red patent leather is slightly pearlized, lending it an extra sparkle.  Also detailed in the pictures included after the jump is the lining, which features a jagged pattern mixing red, yellow, blue, black and white to fully capture that late 80′s aesthetic.  With nearly four months left before the official release, you can count on Sneaker News to bring you more pictures and information.  via WeeklyDrop

Slayer x Vans Owens Hi White + Black

We’ve already seen a couple pairs of Vans Owens His that evoke classic Air Jordan styling.  Both of these new pairs feature black, white and red construction with AJIII-like speckles, but they’re actually inspired by an entirely different kind of legend.  The next in the Slayer x Vans collaboration, these Owens His feature the band’s signature script on the heel as their only clear shout out.  You can get one or both pairs with free two-way shipping now at Zappos.  via DailyDrop

Nike Zoom Kobe IV White Black Del Sol Playoff Pack

Though he never played college basketball, the latest edition of Kobe Bryant’s signature shoe is out just in time for March Madness.  As part of Nike’s Playoff Pack, we expect to see this version of the Zoom Kobe IV on the court come late April, but you can have them now.  Featuring the Playoff Pack’s signature white and black palette, these add yellow to tie them in with the LA Lakers’ jerseys.  On the tongue, we see the pie-like circular symbol common to all Playoff Pack releases, which includes Kobe’s nickname ‘Mamba’ along with some interesting patterns.  These are available now at Shoe Planet.

Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Mr Hudson Detailed Pictures

The prices and names of the styles from the Kanye West and Louis Vuitton collaboration sneaker collection were released last week and we found out that Kanye named the shoe’s after some his close friends including one of his new artists on his G.O.O.D. Music label, Mr. Hudson, the Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Mr Hudson shoe looks a bit like a boat shoe but obviously a bit more sophisticated and with a lot more style. At least two colorways will be released including an all White one that Kanye first previewed a while back, a second colorway will also be released which features a similar mixture of colors as the High Top sneaker (Jasper’s). Look for the Kanye x Louis Vuitton collection to hit the best Louis Vuitton stores in June. via BKRW

Nike Big Nike High LE Phi Slamma Jamma

Though the early draft entry trend that picked up steam in the mid-90s has continued and diluted the overall collection of talent in NCAA men’s basketball, we have memories of a ton of great teams from yesteryear that stayed together for several years.  Key among those was the high-flying ‘Phi Slamma Jamma’ crew that made three Final Fours between 1982 and ’84.

Though they never won a championship and were victim to the Cinderella NC State team that won on a miracle alley-oop in 1983, this group is still widely remembered for exhibiting athleticism well beyond their era.  Key Slamma Jammas Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler reunited with the Houston Rockets in 1995, leading the Rockets to Olajuwon’s second straight NBA championship.

As for the shoes, they’re a throwback to the hardwood fraternity, as evinced by the Greek letter Phi, LeBron’s Dunkman insignia and a backboard representing their three letters of unity.  Red, black and white plaid on the side panels honouring Coach Guy Lewis contrasts the red and white leather that make up the rest of the upper, while a college-styled ‘Nike’ on the heel adds a subtle twist on the Big Nike design.  The first House of Hoops exclusive to draw inspiration from college players rather than NBA legends, these joints will probably drop at Foot Locker‘s specialty stores well after March Madness has drawn to a close.  Stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates.

Nike Air Tech Challenge Hybrid White/Volt Hot Lava

If you are totally sick of Nike hybrid models by now, you may want to look away, but don’t be so quick to dismiss these until you take a closer look. Tennis great, Andre Agassi’s shoe, the Nike Air Tech Challenge was one of Nike’s hottest models back in the late 80′s and early 90′s and was even embraced by those with no appreciation whatsoever for tennis. There were four Air Tech Challenge models released between 1989 and 1992 and now the most recognizable attributes of each have all been combined into one shoe that pays homage to the entire line.

We showed you another colorway of the Air Tech Challenge Hybrid  a few months back, but this one seems to do it even more justice in terms of trying to capture the look of all four. You can immediately pick out the Lava graphics from the ATC II, the wavy Volt Yellow section from the ATC III and the wildly colorful heel from the ATC IV, but you’ll have to look closer to find other retro inclusions in this hybrid design. If these summon up instant nostalgia for you the way they do for us, these are available right now on eBay.

Color:  White/Volt-Hot Lava-Black

Nike Skyposite Varsity Royal Black + Black Anthracite

With all the hoopla surrounding Nate Robinson’s stupendous Kryptonate kicks, now is a great time to see some new kicks with Nike’s injected foam Posite construction.  Here we see the Nike Skyposite for the first time in two basic colourways.  The varsity royal and black pair reminds one of the recent Air 1/2 (Half) Cent, while the black pair accented with anthracite features diagonal striping reminiscent of the Air Jordan 2009.  Both pairs feature a silhouette quite similar to Kevin Durant’s signature Nike, the KD1, while departing from this design in their use of LunarLite cushioning in the forefoot.  The Zoom Air heel cushion and herringbone outsole should provide for great on-court feel when these drop later this year.  Keep it locked to Sneaker News for updates and be sure to catch Nate Robinson on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight.  via NT, edited by Sneaker News
