Nike Air Yeezy Prototype
The most publicized and hyped sneaker of 2009, the Nike Air Yeezy, is less than a week away from releasing in limited quantities across the globe, so it’s only right that our friends over at Complex sat down with the two people behind the Air Yeezy, Nike Creative Director of Special Projects, Mark Smith and of course, Kanye West, to discuss how the Air Yeezy came about. The project itself started shortly after the Air Force 1 25th Anniversary Event in New York City, as Kanye explains that’s when he “sat there and drew countless forms of shoes, and a lot of them were inspired by Back to the Future, by the McFlys or whatever people call them—I just call them the Mags”. The in depth feature of the interview with the two creative geniuses can be found in the April/May issue of Complex which features non other than the Louis Vuitton Don on the cover with the photography for the cover being shot by Chris Milk. via Complex

We’ve been waiting for these to drop since November and the first pair is finally available. Proving that the trend toward gloomy looking kicks isn’t required during an economic downturn, word from 21 Mercer St. is that the Nike Air Max 90 WMNS looks great in shiny patent leather. This pair appears in yellow with mesh on the toe, tongue and ankle collar providing tonal accents. There’s some white scattered about reminding us that spring is sunny and fun no matter how much money you have. Maybe you can spare a little, and if so, these are available now at select Nike Sportswear retailers including the aforementioned flagship store in NYC.

Back in the late eighties and early nineties, the prolific Nike Air Max line had the running shoe game on lockdown, trend-setting and innovating in terms of both style and function with each new release. Keeping with that tradition, in 1992, Nike unleashed the Air Max ST, at the time, its most technologically advanced running model yet. The shoe featured a much larger Air sole unit in the heel than had ever been used on a Nike running shoe and also added an Air unit in the front of the shoe as well. The Air Max ST also incorporated Nike’s Footbridge technology to even further improve cushioning and comfort. Other nice features of the ST were the breathable leather/mesh upper and the addition of a Neoprene tongue, similar to the Air Max 180 and other Nike models of the time.
Much like the Air Pegasus comeback that we showed you a few days ago, this under appreciated gem is finally returning as a Retro release in some classic colorways. This White/Black/Hot Red pair stays pretty true to the original, conjuring instant nostalgia for the fruitful sneaker era that they emerged from. The fact that the Air Max ST has been floating in obscurity for so long only makes its re-release that much sweeter. Whether you have fond memories of the first go-around of the ST or are just discovering it now, the Retro-hungry sneaker community will surely be taking notice when these finally hit stores again this fall. Stay tuned for exact release details as soon as they are confirmed. Click below for more photos and photos of the original 1992 Air Max ST.

Michael Jordan had no problem scoring in wingtips, and the iconic Air Jordan XI derived from his impeccable fashion sense inspires basketball shoes to this day. While these aren’t necessarily heirs to the Air Jordan legacy, they use the wingtip theme to great success. The Vans Vault Era Wingtips help this OG Off the Wall stand out from its nearly identical younger brother, the Authentic. Featuring leather construction atop a vulcanized rubber sole, the dressy toe stitching and inline perforations further Vault’s onslaught of grown-and-sexy releases. We expect these in Fall 2009, so keep it locked to Sneaker News for updates. via Marcus Troy

Here we have a Vans Forty Four High done in collaboration with United Kingdom native Danny Wainwright who is well known for his deft skating skills and world record for highest ollie. The collaboration with Wainwright is done within the context of Vans’ West vs. East pack that will be including putting shops like Crooks and Castles (West) up against the likes of 5Boro (East). Among the plentiful features on the Forty Four High is the generous use of black suede with black and teal safari print along the heel and mid section. A teal mid-sole adds some pop to the bottom while purple accents the the lining and laces. Look for these at select Vans retailers, but if you can’t find them within reach worrying won’t be necessary as we found plenty of pairs on Ebay.

A new Nike Dunk High Supreme has been released in a simple Black and White colorway, the reason for the Supreme in the name of the shoe is not because of the skate/street brand from New York but rather because of the treatment and materials applied to this particular Dunk High. A nice paisley print is imprinted into the leather of the upper of the shoe as well as screenprinted on the insole. Additionally the shoes use a premium and rich suede giving it a great feel to it. The shoes are available now at select Nike Sportswear retailers in addition to the Kix-Files Online Store.

The Nike Air Rejuven8 was debuted prior to the 2008 Beijing Olympics and they were seen everywhere during the Olympics, particularly on the Medal Stand when various Nike athletes and teams accepted their medals. Now the Rejuven8 is making a return during the Summer months of 2009 in a pack of four colorways dubbed the “Fluo Pack” which will consist of two Men’s colorways and two Women’s colorways. The pack of four will hit select Nike retailers in the upcoming weeks. One of the main differences about these colorways of the Rejuven8 are the various colors and prints that are used on the shoes, which are a bit more irreverent and colorful compared to the one’s that were released last year. via Kix-Files
