It seems crazy that with all the retro madness that has gone on in recent years, the Nike Air Pegasus ’89 has been paid very little attention. A few months back, we showed you a preview of some new colorways of the Pegasus, much to the delight of the Nike purists who were actually rocking them in 1989. Two new versions have recently hit the shelves, hopefully sparking the beginning of what has been a long-awaited comeback. In an effort to bring them more up to date with today’s wilder color palettes, one new version of the Air Pegasus adds some vibrant Rave Pink accents to a muted grey/white upper and midsole. The other new colorway is more in line with the traditional look of the original Pegasus, using Medium Blue to offset the light grey/white base colors. Both pairs are available now at atmos and we can only hope that more are on the way.

Continuing with the theme of white plus black and a single team colour, the Nike Playoff Pack adds Dirk Nowitzki’s signature Nike Air Max Spot Up. Along with the two base colours, we see an outline of the Swoosh and laces woven with Dallas Mavericks blue. A circular emblem featuring Dirk’s number, 41, and a very German-looking eagle appears on the outer heel. Dirk’s Mavs are currently ahead of Steve Nash‘s Phoenix Suns by 3.5 games for the eighth and final playoff spot in the top-heavy Western Conference, but we’ll have to wait and see which one actually gets to rock his Playoff Pack kicks on-court. via Kenlu

The Nike Zoom LeBron VI has gotten a lot of special attention from the designers at Nike Basketball and it looks like the are becoming relatively generous with all the different styles in regards to releases outside basketball locker rooms. Back in February we showed you the LeBron VI Superman edition that was supposedly a player exclusive, but it seems as though it will be available to the fans in the near future. The shoe has a mostly blue upper with a golden Swoosh and a white, patent leather toe-box. On the mid-sole you will find the tri-colored stitching and an out-sole done up with blue, red and yellow. Luckily for all you LeBron fans, these will be available today at all three House of Hoops so you will have a chance to cop your pair. Even though Dwight Howard and Sahq seem to be fighting over the title of Superman in the NBA realm, there is no doubt LeBron is on the verge of superhero status (if not there already). via FootlockerUnlocked

Nike often refers to pop culture in its limited edition releases, but this one honours the 40th anniversary of one of the most inspirational achievements in the entire history of mankind. Whether they’re a ‘small step for mankind’ is more dependent upon your own stride, but there’s no question that this new pair of Nike Air Max 1s does a nifty job of achieving its lunar landing theme. The upper is comprised of mostly black leather with touches of quilted black nylon and metallic silver accents. A strip of the upper directly above the midsole is embossed with a crater-like pattern and a moon boot-evoking silver midsole completes the vibe. While we’re uncertain as to the exact date, the moon landing was July 21, 1969, so we expect them during the summer. Stay tuned to Sneaker News for updates. via Colmilludo

As NBA Playoff time approaches, we’ve learned to expect a new edition of LeBron James’ secondary shoe each April. As of this writing, his Cleveland Cavaliers have the league’s best record and we might see these Nike Zoom LeBron Soldier IIIs on-court into June. These new photos show the double strapped midtop in detail. The black/white/red colourway features a patent leather toe and diamond patterned sole. Check out a dozen new photos after the jump and keep it locked to Sneaker News for release updates. via Kenlu

Do these look familiar to you? This is, of course, a rhetorical question; there’s no denying their similarity to the legendary Supreme Dunks from 2003. Featuring cement grey elephant print on the toebox and rear quarter/heel along with white leather, a black Swoosh and blue lining, it’s clear where this pair of Nike SB Zoom P-Rod IIs get their inspiration. Likely the final edition of the second Paul Rodriguez pro model, this release suggests it’s better to burn out than to fade away. Stay tuned to Sneaker News for more info. via Colmilludo

Foot Locker’s House of Hoops has a good thing goin’ here with their exclusive Nikes honouring some of the NBA’s colourful characters. Before Ray Allen reappropriated the name, the Association’s original ‘Sugar Ray’ was Michael Ray Robinson. While inspiration for the Nike Sky Force Mid LE that bears his nickname on the lining isn’t immediately obvious, the tonal white silhouette and speckled icey sole might point to ::sniff:: the four-time All-Star’s checkered past. His own shoe released twenty-five years after participating in the 1985 Eastern Conference All Star team’s freeze out of rookie Michael Jordan, Sugar Ray is finally getting his due. While we’d hesitate to say they’re even, the HoH-exclusive April 2009 release will satisfy sneakerheads and NBA fanatics alike.

Run for the hills! The Puma Japanese Monster Pack is set to drop soon, and we have new pictures of the whole bunch. First up are the First Rounds. The Lizoid King edition is inspired by Godzilla and features a scaley faux-lizard skin upper along with pointy teeth sticking out of the collar’s heel. The similarly copyright-avoiding Mocha King is a send up of the laser-equipped Mechagodzilla. Mecha King is made of metallic silver with rivets strewn about the upper and midsole.
The midcut Puma Stepper is called Terror King in honour of King Ghidorah. Scaley similar to the Lizoid King, these joints find their teeth in the form of triangular tabs hanging off of the eyelets. Rounding out the pack are perhaps the two most popular Puma models: the Suede and Clyde. The Suede ‘Ape King’ features a fuzzy upper that evokes King Kong’s furry physique, while parts are torn away to reveal a red underlay. The Moth King Clyde is also fuzzy, but in a whispier way so as to evoke the horrible symmetry of Mothra (as seen in the colourful underlay).
All five pairs feature the inspiring creature’s ‘attributes’ imprinted inside the tongue, but apparently they share one common characteristic: scarcity. Set to drop Saturday, March 21, these are all limited to no more than 29 pairs each, with the Lizoid King only appearing 13 times. You probably have no shot of getting them in Hong Kong, so check eBay and other resellers starting this weekend. via Kenlu
Update: As of March 21, a limited quantity are available from German sneaker specialists Solebox.

The guys at Alife are staying busy as usual, splashing a nice assortment of spring colors across several of their well-known models. The Everybody Mid seems to have gotten the most attention, with solid green, orange and purple leather versions, as well as a red and black checkered nylon pair. Two low models also join the rest, with a classy black Everybody Mono Low and a purple Chaser adding some additional flavor to the collection. All these styles and more are available now at Standard‘s Lenox Square shop just in time for the warm weather.

Updated: New photos added.
The reception has been decidedly warm thus far for the Air Jordan V (5) double-play that is the “Raging Bull” Defining Moments Package II (DMP 2). Here’s another new AJ5 for 2009, but this one is slated for a standalone release. Appearing in a white patent leather upper, these have quite a few contrasts. The midsole is a dark army green (appears bluish in bottom pics) featuring a speckled white sharkstooth plus translucent yellow sole segments. The tongue is a brownish-burgundy colour and the lining features a mix of complimentary hues. They’re set to drop later this year, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for more pictures and updates. via Marquee Sole / NikeTalk
