A lot of folks were shocked a while back when news first broke that a collaboration between Jeff Staple and Airwalk was in the works to be distributed by Payless stores. While it might seem like a strange route to go, the motivation behind it is full of good intentions. The upcoming Staple x Airwalk collection will feature 8 modestly priced styles created so that just about anyone can rock some decent kicks without dropping obscene dough on them. The first model to emerge is this Airwalk 1.0, a basic high-top style with a sleek design and a simple colorway. The upper is made from a light brown leather that is offset by a black midsole and some bright red laces. Some nice additional touches come by way of Airwalk’s old-school “Ollie Man” logo on the side of the upper and a Staple logo tab on the ankle. Look for these to drop exclusively at Payless this August for a very reasonable price. Via ToDarrinHudson.

Jeff needs to get them to reissue the Enigma, airwalk Next and the 540s. The old Enigmas in new color ways would be sicker than any of these new style half cabs man believe it.

I like and respect what Staple is doin…makin reasonably priced kicks for the people who cant afford to spend 300 buck on a pair of sneakers or for people like myself who refuse to spend that much money. I will definitely be headin to payless and gettin a few myself…
