With summer right around the corner, Nike is ramping up classic lowtop releases with the vintage treatment. Two new models of note are the Star Classic and Waffle Racer. All five pairs come in a simple colourblocking scheme with white accents, plus they all have pre-yellowed midsoles and Nike Vintage’s signature orange tongue tag.
The Star Classic will be available in a mix of rich suede and canvas, and you’ll have your choice of either bright red or the one pair that deviates from the aforementioned colourblocking scheme by opting for a golden yellow Swoosh atop a green upper. If ping-pong shoes aren’t your thing, the Waffle Racer will be available in deep red, navy blue or green. Each of these are set to drop next month, so click the jump below for detailed photos of each pair thanks to FRESHNESS.

Back in the early 90′s all the sneaker companies were working overtime to try to one-up their competitors with the latest in footwear technology. Nike had Air, Reebok had the Pump, Asics had Gel and Converse had React Juice. Puma however, came up with one of the most innovative concepts of them all. The Puma Disc technology was an intriguing idea at the time, and although it never really caught on like some of the other brands’ models, it is still fondly remembered by a ton of sneakerheads. We showed you this black/grey/pink Puma Disc Blaze II back in February, but at the time they were only available in Asia. Now they are finally beginning to hit the states, arriving at select Puma retailers such as MajorDC.

Supra’s popular Skytop model is back in two new colorways as part of their Fall ’09 collection. We recently gave you a sneak peek at the soon to be unveiled Skytop II, so it’s nice to see that the original Skytop will not be forgotten once its successor arrives. The new Skytop models offer two very different looks. One shoe sports a solid olive green green upper with a bright orange midsole. This model is part of the Supra TUF line, so in addition to the bold look, it’s also extra durable and ready for skating punishment. The other new colorway goes in an opposite direction, using some premium materials to give the shoe a luxe appearance. It features a black patent leather upper with red and gold accents, as well as a fresh green croc skin mid panel. Both Skytop models will be available at Limited EDT beginning May 20th.

They’re probably not actually magic shoes, but the newest Nike SB Air Zoom FC certainly appeared out of nowhere. Having collected dust for a couple of years, Nike SB conjured up two new pairs and placed them on their website for curious visitors to find on their own. We considered the possibility that with such an unveiling, they might be a limited or regional release, but whatever the case, we found them stateside. You can cop either the white pair with kelly green accents or the forest green pair with white accents now from In4mation‘s Ward Warehouse. via CtotheJL

Gourmet might very well be in the process of one of the most ingenious bait-and-switches the world of footwear has ever seen. Coming on to the scene in the last couple years with designs that mimicked classic Air Jordan silhouettes, the company has recently started featuring more completely original designs. Showing that the transition is still underway, ‘older’ models like the Air Jordan XII-evoking Quattro are still around, but this time they feature horse hair uppers (another Nike staple from years gone by). Click the jump to see Gourmet’s entire collection for Spring/Summer 2009, including the dope Epi Leather kicks they dropped back in March. Those and all the rest are available now at Gourmet’s e-store or any of their retailers. via Sneaker Freaker

The Air Max 95 has seen its fair share of different colorways over the years, but nothing seems to come close to that classic gradient grey upper. Lately, Nike has brought back a bunch of new Air Max 95 colorways that use the original Neutral Grey formula and frankly, you can switch the accent colors all day and you really can’t mess it up. The latest version puts a new spin on things by adding some Mint accents to the mix. As you would expect, the Mint highlights can be found on the lace loops, Swoosh and inside the Air bubbles. This may not be the most creative colorway of the Air Max 95, but when you are working with that classic grey base, the results usually wind up successful. There is no word yet on a release date for these, but they are expected to drop some time this fall. Via TheShoeGame.

With Ken Griffey Jr. slugging for the Seattle Mariners once again, Nike couldn’t have picked a better time to re-release his most popular signature shoe. The Nike Air Griffey Max 1 appears above in a varsity royal colourup with white and black accents. There are also a few touches of volt, but since the bright yellow hue is the most eye-catching of all the colours on this pair, they’re likely to be referred to as ‘Volts’. Call ‘em what you will, these are a dope look for summer and are available a little earlier than expected from Foot Locker in the NY metro area. Call your local store for availability or see if your size is one of the few still available on their website.

Even with their elite big man, Kevin Garnett, sidelined with an injury, the Boston Celtics are still going strong in the playoffs and to no one’s surprise, Paul Pierce is a big reason why. The Celtics’ scoring machine has been putting in work during their current battle with the Magic and now you can show your Celtic Pride thanks to the upcoming release of Paul Pierce’s Zoom Sharkley PE’s. We showed you a look at Paul’s Sharkley’s a few weeks ago and at the time, it was unknown if they would ever be released for retail. The good news came today that these kicks will be hitting House of Hoops as well as two Boston Foot Lockers some time this week. The shoe comes in a nice white/green/black colorway with some nice personalized touches and will make a nice addition to the collection of any Celtics or Paul Pierce fans. You can find these any day now at House of Hoops and the 779 Dudley St. and 375 Washington St. Foot Locker stores in Boston. Via FootLockerUnlocked.

Some of the Swoosh’s biggest hits were bumped up a notch with the NIKEiD Studio’s increased design options revealed yesterday. Conspicuous by its absence was the legendary Air Force 1, but that hiatus was a mere 24 hours. Today, the NIKEiD Air Force 1 Low Premium Mx is available for customization at Nike Sportswear’s flagship location at 21 Mercer St. in New York. This is the only stateside studio to offer options like luxe suede, luxe full grain leather, patent leather, a ‘magic’ patent leather, visible Airbags and 10 characters laser etched on the outer midsole. NSW Tokyo and NTL will also have these options, but if you’re in the US, call or stop by 21 Mercer St. to set an appointment.

We’ve seen plenty of crazy renditions of the Nike Air Max 90 recently, and as if their inclusion in the Nike iD Premium lineup weren’t enough, here’s another top-of-the-line pair. The AM90 pictured above features a black patent leather upper with sparkles that makes it look somewhat holographic. The sparkles are blue and yellow, which ties the patent leather in with the various accents in those two hues. These are very limited, so act fast if you wanna cop them now from OSneaker.
