As the official sponsor of the 2009 Gumball 3000 Rally, Puma has created a new motorsports shoe to be worn by drivers competing in the coast-to-coast race. The Puma Speed Cat 2.9 Mid Gumball 3000 features a black leather mid with silver accents and a mesh tongue. It sports some thoughtful touches to capture the vibe of the event like the tire-inspired outsole that creeps up the back of the heel and the Gumball 3000 logo on the tongue label. Also, the insole is covered with the names of the cities that the race burns through. To take their race support a step further, Puma creatively painted several cars to look like sneakers. Check out some pics of the kicks and more Puma cars after the jump. Only 200 pairs of these sneakers were just released exclusively at Journeys and more colorways are on the way in June. If this Puma Gumball Rally stuff is up your alley, there are also some matching t-shirts that you can check out on Freshness.

This year’s Air Force 1 Armed Forces edition goes in a different direction from previous versions, abandoning the red, white and blue color scheme for a more Army camouflage-inspired palette. The shoe features a Neutral Olive leather upper with laser etching gracing the entire heel panel. The toe box and mid panel are constructed with a grid nylon material that also provides a military look. Additional accents come by way of a contrasting white midsole and laces and a black outsole and tongue label. A final touch is the 50 stars that adorn the upper heel panel in a vertical design. These kicks were released as a Quickstrike this past weekend to military bases throughout the United States, so if you have a friend in the service, you might want to make a phone call. We saw another Nike Air Classic BW in white, red and black about a month ago. These show how just a little twist can make for a big change. This edition features a white leather upper with red tongue, ankle collar, lining and midsole. Black is reserved for the laces, making for a much brighter overall effect. If you’re up for something old, new and borrowed, cop these now from Titolo.

We all know that being a Jordan athlete must come with some pretty nice perks, but does it really get any better than getting your own PE’s? This Air Jordan 2009 has been personalized for Jordan Brand’s own Carmelo Anthony in his Denver Nuggets colors. The shoe features a nice solid black upper with a few choice sections of baby blue and some minimal yellow accents scattered around to complete the Nuggets color scheme. As a final personal touch, Carmelo’s number 15 is carved into the tongue in a black on black design. Unfortunately these will probably never be released for retail, which is a shame, because dare we say that this might be one of the better Air Jordan 2009 colorways that we’ve seen. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on any news of a drop, but don’t hold your breath. Via FootSell.

It looks like Nike had some optimistic MVP hopes for LeBron James before the official announcement had even been made. Coming off the recent news that King James has just won his first, and probably not last, MVP award, Nike will release an MVP edition of the Zoom LeBron VI. The shoe sports some nice premium upgrades, fitting of a most valuable player. The LeBron VI MVP features printed graphics on the mudguard and midfoot strap, as well as sections of premium gloss distressed leather and crackled leather. Last but not least, an MVP tab appears on the top of the ankle to remind everyone that the King reigns supreme. These kicks will be available on NikeStore and will begin shipping on May 30th with a limit of one pair per customer.

The last Air Jordan XI samples we saw were unique in their use of number 45 on the heel. This pair uses the familiar 23, but features another twist instead. Pictured above is a pair of Air Jordan XI Lows with a white upper and columbia blue patent leather. They’re also in remarkably good shape with apparently no yellowing of the icey outsole. There’s only about a day left on these, so act fast if you wanna cop ‘em from eBay.

Back in early 2004, a Pharrell Williams N.E.R.D. Dunk High was released as part of Nike’s Artist Series. The shoe was a very popular style, but was limited to only 1050 pairs, so a lot of collectors never got their mitts on a pair. The limited run created a lot of demand for these, but now a sample pair has hit eBay that makes 1050 pairs seem like a lot. This sample pair features a slightly different look from the version that was released and if that wasn’t enough, they are actually labeled 0000 of 1050, meaning that these are most likely a one of a kind sample. This version sports a full snakeskin upper that shows off a lot more contrast and appears almost grey or silver in comparison to the solid black pair that were released. Unfortunately, this pair has already been sold on eBay, but at least you can still get a nice look at another pair of sick samples that got away. Check out more pics of this extremely rare collector’s item after the jump and you can compare them with the release version of the Pharrell Nike Dunk High that is pictured all the way at the bottom.

The Nike Air Max Light tends to release almost exclusively to European retailers. This latest colourway is no exception to the rule, but at least you can have ‘em shipped stateside. The pair pictured above features a clean mix of varsity red and white. The simple colourblocking helps to balance the starkly contrasting colours and there’s just a touch of black visible on the outsole. A hot look for the warm weather, you can grab a pair of these today from Titolo.

As usual, Nike SB has some big things in the works and at the moment, none are bigger than their upcoming “Debacle” HD skate video. The video features the skating and non-skating exploits of the Nike SB team in action and from a look at this trailer, it looks like there’s plenty to be excited about. Be prepared to laugh, cry and whince in vicarious pain as Daryl Angel, David Clark, Grant Taylor, Shane O’Neill and Justin Brock take you along on the action-packed adventure that comes with being a Nike SB rider. For those of you anxiously anticipating this film, it will premier in Los Angeles on June 10th. Until then, check out this trailer for a sneak peek at some of the fun.

If you thought that a little outbreak of Swine Flu would keep South of the Border sneakerheads from coming out to try to get their hands on the Black/Pink Nike Air Yeezy’s, you couldn’t be more wrong. Dedicated collectors lined up outside of the Nike Sportswear 1902 store in Mexico City this past weekend to try to be one of the lucky few to cop a pair of the highly coveted Kanye kicks. Unlike most sneaker-drop camp-outs, this one came with a few more hazards than usual, but a bunch of brave souls strapped on their surgical masks and a matching pair of kicks and went about their business as usual. Nike had a lot to be excited about in general with the incredible buzz and popularity of the Air Yeezy, but to know that kids are actually going to such extremes has to be reinforcing a huge sense of accomplishment out in Beaverton.

Last week, we showed you a pretty nice Air Jordan collection, mostly comprised of the Countdown Packs and other more recent models. This collection from Brian TM however, is a Jordan purist’s dreams, full of OG colorways of countless Air Jordan models, complete with the original boxes and tags, as well as matching Flight gear and plenty of other goodies. With all the hate being spewed these days in regard to Fusions and non-original colorways, this collection is like a history lesson in Air Jordan purity for newcomers and a walk down memory lane for those who were around when these kicks made their first go-around. In addition to the amazing visual attractions within this Air Jordan arsenal is a reminder that there were people putting in some serious work in the sneaker game before anyone ever heard of a Retro. Keep reading after the jump for a ton of the juiciest OG Air Jordan images you will ever see in one place. Via SC.

A few weeks back, we showed you a sneak preview of the upcoming Air Jordan 16.5 in a colorway that was obviously swayed more towards the look of the Air Jordan XVI. For the second colorway, the inspiration seems to be taken from the White/Black/Royal color scheme of the first Air Jordan XVII to drop. While the black patent leather toe and the black mesh at the base of the upper still give a healthy dose of the XVI, the white leather upper allows the eyelets to be much more prominent, making the Air Jordan XVII components much more recognizable. Some other interesting touches are the braille print on the heel and a Jordan logo on the midsole that can be read upside-down, as well as right-side-up. Like the Black/Red Air Jordan 16.5, these will be released sometime in November, but this colorway will be a Foot Locker exclusive. Via FootLockerUnlocked.
