Plus41 x Grotesk Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke Sneakerness 2009

No, these aren’t designed to honour Sneaker News, but we’ll forgive you if that’s how you read it.  Swiss artists/designers Grotesk and +41 got up with the NIKEiD Bespoke program and produced these sick Air Force 1s to commemorate the upcoming Sneakerness event in Zurich.  Inspired by the Air Jordan III (3) and the ultra-rare Air Jordan Sky High, this pair features a cement grey elephant print rear quarter/heel alongside an otherwise white leather upper.  The plastic eyelets change from red to grey about halfway up, a feature that helps to incorporate the firey hue also found on the heel tab and midsole stitch.  All of this tops an icey outsole, but this beauty might not top the event.

The May 9th event at Schiffbau will feature sellers and traders, of course, plus exhibitions, art installations, a NIKEiD studio and afterparty with DJ Clark Kent and Cool Bob Love himself, Bobbito Garcia.  Check out the other pics after the jump and if you’re in Western Europe, do yourself a favour and stop by tomorrow.  via HS

Star Trek x Staple x Airwalk Terrain Sneakers

It looks like the Jeff Staple x Airwalk collaboration has boldy gone into a pricerange Payless has never seen before.  And since these new kicks take the design up a notch, it’s fitting that all 130 pairs will only be available at Reed Space.  In commemoration of the new Star Trek prequel that premieres today in theatres around the country, Staple designed these to evoke his idea of “a battle-torn version of The Enterprise.”

They feature a metallic upper in a blackish-grey gunmetal hue upper with black soles.  Gone is the classic ‘Airwalker’ insignia, replaced by the more familiar ‘A’, which matches the Star Trek ‘Shield’ logo appearing as a lacelock.  More Trekkie-oriented details appear on the tongue, heel, rear quarter and insole.  If you’re near Orchard Street today, be sure to drop in and cop a pair that you’ll be sure to find interest for these at a different kind of convention.

Air Jordan 60+ Laney High School Edition

Although the Air Jordan 60+ also blends elements of the Air Jordan II and VII, the Air Jordan V seems to be, not only the biggest contributor to the design, but so far it’s provided most of the colorways as well. We have already shown you the “Grape” version and now comes the Laney High School edition, also heavily influenced by a beloved Air Jordan V color scheme. Thanks to these new pictures, we get our best look yet at the latest Jordan shoe to fuse together classic Jordan models into a single design and we also get a closer view of some of the individual components. The Air Jordan V’s influence is hard to miss, but now you can plainly see the Air Jordan II heel section and the Air Jordan VII tongue, heel tab and 23 logo. So far, sneakerhead reactions to the shoe have been mixed, but we have a feeling that once more colorways begin to emerge, a lot of people will be changing their tunes. Stay tuned for more on the Air Jordan 60+ as additional information becomes available. Via NT / Osneaker

Nike Air Penny 1/2 Cent Metallic Silver Black October 09

The Air Penny Retro craze was sent through the roof a few months ago thanks to the release of the Nike Air Penny 1/2 Cent. The shoe fuses choice attributes from all the Air Penny models into one shoe and everything definitely came together in harmonious fashion on the Varsity Royal/Black pair that dropped back in February. Since then, we have showed you some other upcoming 1/2 Cent colorways, like the Black on Blacks, the Green Spark and this sweet Metallic Silver pair that we now have a new image of for your viewing pleasure. The shoe features a shiny Metallic Silver Foamposite upper with additional sections of black around the laces, ankle and heel and a transparent outsole and visible Air bubble. These kicks are expected to release in October and will no doubt go fast, so be sure to keep checking back for a specific release date. You can see additional pictures of this shoe from our previous posts after the jump. Via NT.

Nike Womens Spray Paint Pack Court Force High + Vandal Low + Air Digs
Graffiti and sneakers are both inextricably linked to hip-hop culture, so it’s only right to see a pack of aerosol-inspired kicks.  The Nike Spray Paint Pack is a quartet of sneakers strictly for the gals.  The collection includes two Court Fource Highs, one each in yellow and turquoise.  The other two pairs are a purple Vandal Low and some lime green Air Digs.  All of these heavily feature the primary colour mentioned above plus white accents for a look that’s both bright and balanced.  These are blended together with an airbrushed gradient effect that’s especially pronounced along the Swooshes.  We expect these to drop next month at select Nike retailers.  via nitro:licious

Rocawear x Jay Z R+ Evolution Sneaker

It seems that these days there are two trends that are becoming more and more popular in the sneaker industry, the first of course being the high top trend and the second being new brands entering the industry. While Rocawear may not be a new brand, it has only produced apparel and accessories up to this point, with the exception of a boot it released a few months back. Now the brand affiliated with Jay-Z will be releasing it’s own high top sneaker that looks to have taken different inspiration cues from a number of brands. The Rocawear R+ is believed to be a collaboration between Rocawear and Jay-Z. While the design looks to “knock off” other brands, the retail price should be relatively reasonable compared to other shoes. Look for the Rocawear R+ to be released in June at various retailers. via The Smoking Section

Nike Big Nike High LE (GS) Black White

The Big Nike model has been making a nice comeback this year with multiple colorways dropping in adult sizes and now the kids finally get to join in the fun. The classic Nike Basketball model from 1985 that combines elements of the Dunk and Terminator is now available in a nice black/white version in grade school sizes. The shoe features a solid black nubuck upper on the toe and mid sections with clean white heel and ankle panels. A white midsole and black outsole continue the color scheme and a black Nike logo appears on the back of the heel. Like the Vandal High GS that we showed you earlier, this Big Nike also features a broken line design around the Swoosh, following the lead of the recent Jackie Robinson Blazer pack. Help a youngster today by picking them up a pair of these now at Sneakerhead.

Nike Vandal High (GS) White Black

Nike has been doing their best lately to make sure that the youngsters can stay fresh while they wait to grow into adult sizes and thanks to this new Vandal High, they will have one more nice option this spring. This version offers some interesting features that you haven’t seen very often on a pair of Vandal Highs. The biggest thing of note is that the upper is made from smooth white leather as opposed to the nylon or canvas looks usually found on Vandal High models. The other standout feature is the broken line outer rim that surrounds the Swoosh, giving these a similar look to the Jackie Robinson Blazers that we previewed a few weeks back. Finishing off the design is some black piping around the seams, adding some classic Vandal flavor despite the new additions. You can cop a pair for the kiddies right now at Sneakerhead.
