Nike Air Hoop Structure OG Air Structure Triax 91 Colorway Holiday 09

The Nike Air Hoop Structure has been building a nice buzz lately thanks to some recent previews of a few upcoming colorways. While a couple of the Air Hoop Structure color schemes seem to be based on some classic Air Jordan models, this pair that we first showed you all the way back in January adopts the palette from the original Air Structure Triax 91. The result looks to be an overwhelming success, proving that the early 90′s running shoe colorway can be just as applicable to a hybrid basketball model almost 20 years later. So far, the Air Hoop Structure has been receiving some very good feedback and with more colorways like this, the shoe figures to have a bright future ahead. These are expected to drop some time later this year as part of the holiday ’09 collection, so stay tuned for the specific release details. Via Leaders 1354.

Reebok Asks Marcin Gortat to Cover His Jordan Tattoo

For some NBA role players, it’s pretty easy to get lost in obscurity, especially when you’re the backup to one of the league’s best players at your position. For Orlando Magic reserve center, Marcin Gortat, more recognition has recently meant more problems. The Polish big man has made a name for himself this year in the NBA Playoffs, getting praised by his coach and popping up on some free agent radars around the league. Gortat’s NBA Finals spotlight has even prompted Reebok, who he has a modest shoe contract with, to take exception with the Jordan Jumpman tattoo on his leg. Reebok is not too happy with a player that wears their shoes also sporting a permanent advertisement for their biggest rival on his leg. They have asked Gortat to either wear higher socks or to actually cover his Jordan ink with makeup. So far, Gortat has been less than willing to comply, making these statements when asked about the “controversy”:

“‘They called and said I had to do something about it, but that ain’t going to happen,’ Gortat said after Tuesday morning’s workout. ‘I’ve been wearing it 4-5 years now, and it helped me get to the NBA. They didn’t say anything about it when I signed the contract, so it’s not going anywhere. I don’t think they are paying me enough to take it off. I’ve heard from other people that even other players, if they don’t know my name, they know I’m the big white guy with the Jordan tattoo,’ he said. ‘I like that. Reebok will have to get used to that.’”  Via YahooSports.

Nike Hypermax NFW McFly Glow in the Dark Outsole

The Tennis Ball Pack of Nike Hypermax NFWs has released, leaving the Marty McFly edition as the most coveted Hypermax yet to be released.  We’ve seen a bunch of pictures of these, admired their satiny side panels and beatutiful colour scheme, but we’re just now seeing one of the coolest features for this Back to the Future-inspired design.  It turns out that the blue sections of the outsole glow in the dark.  No word yet on whether the shoes will be equipped with live electrical currents as depicted above, but given Nike’s tendency to avoid lawsuits, we expect the GID outsole to be the brightest new revelation.  Stick with Sneaker News for updates on this hotly anticipated release.  via Kix-Files

Nike SB Blue Lobster Dunk Low Premium June 20th

Update: Photos are the official colorway of the Blue Lobster Nike SB Dunk Low Premium.

Rumors have been swirling the past few days regarding a Nike SB Blue Lobster Dunk and today Concepts, the original collaborator, has announced that it will be releasing the Blue Lobster Dunk, the sneaker boutique’s second project with Nike SB. The Blue Lobster Dunk will drop at Concepts on Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 11:00 am.

The Blue Lobster Dunk serves as the sequel to last summer’s original Lobster Dunk, a Nike SB that first made waves on May 31, 2008. The first “Lobster” was shipped and promoted by the “Concepts Fishing Company,” and came equipped with a poster, lobster claw rubber band, tee shirt and condiment box (replete with lobster shell cracker, fork, bib, wet nap and “butter” shoelaces) all embossed with the “Concepts Fishing Company” logo. The first 50 pairs sold were available in ultra-limited edition packaging, with all of the above-mentioned bundled up in an authentic Concepts wooden lobster trap. New images via Freshness

Nike Air Max 90 Black Total Orange Fall 09

We’ve learned over the years that it’s pretty hard to mess up an Air Max 90. The shoe has such a classic design that most color combos look pretty good on it and this new version is no exception. This Air Max 90 features a Black on Black upper with a variety of materials used in the construction. The Black leather used on the majority of the shoe has an interesting shiny splatter texture added to it, giving the surface of these kicks a very unique look and the toe box and the section around the ankle feature a Black ridged mesh. Some minimal Total Orange accents really seem to pop right off of the black base and the only other accents come by way of a contrasting Light Grey outsole. These striking kicks are expected to drop some time in August or September, so stay tuned for specific release info and be sure to check out a bunch more pics after the jump. solebox x Saucony A3 July 2009

Solebox is tearing up the collabo scene this year and here’s another worthy addition to their tag team rep.  The Solebox x Saucony A3 is a lightweight runner with a mostly mesh upper.  Swooping in on either side are stabilizing eyelets that anchor the upper into the heel area.  These anchors and a few other elements feature electric blue accents.  The ‘solebox’ logo appears on the tongue tag, while their playful attitude is captured by a “kiss this!” proclamation on the outsole heel.  Expect these in Berlin on July 2nd.

Etnies Senix LV Sacre Green Pack

Other than a few key collaborations, we don’t feature a ton of Etnies here on Sneaker News.  These new releases offer a departure from their normal designs and are well worth examining.  The Etnies Senix LV Sacre Green Pack is made of sustainable materials like organic hemp, bamboo and soy-based inks.  Even the box itself can be planted because it has viable seeds interlaced in the material!  They’re available in five different styles that run the gamot from a clean white and green editino to a crazy patchwork design.  All of them can be yours today from Colette.

Puma Mid Vulc Dark Grey Metallic Silver + Black White Royal

Puma has recently introduced a nice new lifestyle model that has a classic look with a contemporary edge. The Puma Mid Vulc, as indicated by its name, features a mid cut and a vulcanized sole, giving it a look similar to a Puma version of the Nike Blazer. The Mid Vulc sports a mixture of materials on the upper, using suede for the majority of the shoe, but switching it up around the perforated ankle collar and Puma stripe for some added flavor. To start out, the shoe will be available in two colorways. One Puma Mid Vulc features a dark grey suede upper with metallic silver accents and the other version flaunts a black suede upper with a black patent leather ankle collar and additional white and royal blue accents. Both colorways are available now at Sneakerhead and will make for some subtle and stylish options this summer.

Jordan Flight 45 Black Red Stealth + White University Blue Now Available

You may have already seen our previews of the Black/Varsity Red/Stealth and White/University Blue colorways of the eagerly anticipated Jordan Flight 45 and now they have both begun to hit select Jordan retailers. With the release comes a ton of new images of both, so you can finally check out these kicks from just about every angle you can think of. Considering that this shoe is not a Retro and has no real design ties to any Air Jordan signature models (other than the color scheme on the black pair), it’s nice to see that it can still be so warmly received by the sneakerhead community. If you’ve been waiting for these to drop, get over to FinishLine now to scoop up a pair of your own. If you are still on the fence about these, check out an extensive look at both colorways after the jump.

Air Jordan Schoolin Sugar Ray Allen PE House of Hoops Exclusive

Ray Allen’s Boston Celtics were sent home earlier than they’d like, so these new PEs won’t be on display during the NBA Finals.  Be that as it may, the new Air Jordan Schoolin’ ‘Sugar Ray’ PE is set to drop at Foot Locker’s House of Hoops specialty locations tomorrow.  The sleek design features a pebbled white leather upper with cutaways that reveal a mesh underlay.  The upper is smoothly tied into the white midsole with a strip of green croc skin wrapping from toe to toe around the heel.  At the back of this strip lies a silver plastic heel cap, underneath of which visible Zoom Air can be seen.  Cop them at HoH Friday, June 12th.  via Kenlu
