Vans likes to do, well, interesting things with some of their pack names. The Vans Vault Sk8-Hi ‘Standard Issue’ LX is anything but typical. While two of the three feature toned down colours, all of them add flair to the classic Sk8-Hi design by adding a diagonal fabric stripe on the side panels, plus metal reinforced eyelets. There’s a pair each in tonal brown and black/white, but the black and grey pair with neon accents steals this show. The entire trio can be yours today at Vans retailers like DQM.

The Nike Big Nike has been making a big comeback in the last couple of months and now another interesting version has just emerged. This Big Nike High LE sports a Navy upper that uses nubuck in some sections and smooth perforated leather in others. Accents are provided by a White midsole, Swoosh and tongue label and some bright yellow laces, but the focal point has to be the multi-colored woven design pattern on the heel panel. These kicks are set to release in the near future, but they are available for pre-order now on eBay.

Countless superheroes have been honored on Nike models over the years, but somehow, the Man of Steel has rarely been immortalized on some fresh Nike kicks. A few months back, Nike finally whipped up some Superman-inspired Zoom LeBron VI’s and now the concept has been applied to another model, this time exclusively in boys’ sizes. The Air Classic BW has received the Superman treatment with a bold Royal Blue/Red/Yellow color scheme and even an “N” crest logo on the tongue label. Hook up a youngster with some fun summertime kicks by pre-ordering these now on eBay.

By now, the beloved Elephant Skin print has branched out from its Air Jordan III roots to grace the uppers of a number of other classic Nike models. It’s finally time for the Vandal High to flaunt some Elephant flavor, but it does so in a pretty subtle way. This Vandal High LE sports a solid Black upper with a combination of materials used in the construction. Smooth Black leather and sections of Black mesh make up the front of the upper with the heel covered with a Black on Black Elephant Skin pattern. Minimal White and Metallic Silver accents can be found on the strap and outlining the Swoosh among other places and a clean White midsole finishes off the look. If you’re feeling these, you can pre-order them now on eBay and they are expected to ship as soon as the end of the month.

The long-admired Air Total Max Uptempo is finally making its way back as a Retro release in arguably its best colorway. The popular basketball shoe is still looking good in this Black/Volt color scheme and has probably been on a lot of sneakerheads’ radars for a while now. These kicks feature a striking look with a Black leather/nubuck upper and Volt accents on the Air bubble, Swoosh and outsole. These are expected to hit stores early in July, but they are available for pre-order on eBay now, so you can make sure you get your pair and most likely earlier than most. While you’re waiting, you can check out some closeups after the jump. Also available at Nikestore.com.

Despite our initial impressions, it’s possible that Filippo Perin’s Air Yeezy origami sculptures weren’t the most impressive artistic rendition of the king of all hyped sneakers. Nike celebrated Kanye West’s birthday by dropping a few of the Net/Net Yeezys on NikeStore in a complete surprise, but it looks like someone else was celebrating with the shoe in mind as well. Above is an Air Yeezy birthday cake. Despite pushing blue a tad in comparison to the original Zen Grey release, we can confirm that this edition was much tastier (as evidenced by the crumbs). Earlier today, we showed you a preview of the incredible Air Jordan VIII-inspired Air Hoop Structure and now we get a look at another hybrid model from the upcoming holiday ’09 collection. You may have seen our sneak peek at the Auto Force 180 a few months back. The shoe takes the Air Force 180 design and fuses it together with a vulcanized Blazer midsole. This latest version pays tribute to the Big Apple with a Royal and Orange Mets/Knicks color scheme and a script “NYC” logo on the heel. Like the Air Hoop Structure, these kicks will be available some time later this year. We’ll keep you posted on the release info and you can check out another view of the kicks after the jump. In Troma’s cult classic The Toxic Avenger, Melvin Ferd is transformed into a hilariously unique superhero of sorts. It looks like Nike may have decided to reappropriate the role in their street-level adaptation. It’s unclear whether pro snowboarder Gigi Rüf’s insignia is etched into the wing of the Nike SB ‘Toxic Avenger’ Dunk Low as a sign of things to come, or whether it’s just a welcome gift for the newest member of Nike Snowboarding. It appears that these are ‘samples’, as the SB-signature stuffed tongue is clearly absent. Either way, take a look at this pic and compare it to the ones we’ve already seen before after the jump. Which version do you like better? via N-SB.org

Italian artist, Filippo Perin, is showing his love for fresh kicks with a series of incredible origami sneaker sculptures. The standouts of the bunch have to be the paper Air Yeezy’s in all three highly sought after colorways. In addition to the Yeezy’s, Filippo has also created paper versions of the Air Force 1 Mid and Low. All the sculptures are extremely intricate and the attention to detail can’t be questioned. For a look at a bunch more paper Nikes from Filippo Perrin, keep reading after the jump. Via inqmnd.
