After completing a 6-year shoe deal with Adidas, Kobe signed a big contract with Nike just days before his Colorado legal troubles went public. As a result, Nike held off for awhile on a signature shoe, and in the meantime, Kobe was usually seen wearing the shoes of the legend that he was frequently accused of trying to imitate. Opinions differ on that debate, but who could blame him for wanting to rock some Air Jordans. As you’ll see after the jump, Kobe sported a bunch of different Air Jordans, mostly during the 2003-2004 season. Some versions are OG colorways, but many have been personalized with Lakers color schemes.
In addition to the Jordans, Kobe can also be seen wearing some Air Force 1’s, two different pairs of Allen Iverson’s signature Reebok Answer kicks and the white/purple/gold Converse Weapons that Magic Johnson made legendary during the Showtime Laker days. We’re not positive on the time frame for some of these photos, but it’s safe to assume that most are from the period between leaving Adidas and when his first signature Nike model was introduced. kobe chose adidas cause that’s what he wore during high school. adidas sponsored kobe’s high school basketball team back then and adidas basically hooked them up with tons of gear. adidas did the same thing with t-mac and his high school bball team. by the time, those 2 decided to go pro, adidas was probably like yo, we hooked you and your h.s. team up with crazy gear. now imagine what you’ll get when you sign with us.
kobe wore the AIs/reeboks and converses cause before he signed with nike, he was undecided about which sneaker company to sign with. so during those few months with no shoe contract, he wore every sneaker company’s best sneaker and chose the one he liked.

i remember watching him play in some of these but he also wore some of these when the lakers were a weak team too. then shortly after thats when he was demanding for a trade but then we picked up Gasol and he quit his bitching. Who ever made this slide show should make one of the clippers when they had lamar, Q, darius Miles and candy man because they also rocked some of the best jays. Im not sure but it was around the 02 or 03 nba season.

Kobe can do better on the court. His Nike game is simply not up to snuff. Yall can’t tell me the Adidas Kobe 1, 2, and Top Ten 2000 aren’t simply better silhouetts and more inventive and original than any Nike he has ever put on. A player as good as Kobe shouldn’t be wearing Huaraches that 100 other players are wearing, nor should he be wearing shoes that look like discount or outlet offerings regardless of how light and court-friendly they are(current Kobe). Check the Kobe 1 Sunshine. The Kobe two that was inspired by the Audi TT. I would never, ever, never put Adidas on a level remotely close to Nike, but as far as Kobe goes, they treated him with more respect in the design department. Penny Hardaway and Alan Houston can unveil probably the most unique, inventive, and futuristic shoe design in basketball history (with very limited Nike badging), yet Kobe has to wear knock-offs inspired by huaraches and AF1’s with large swooshes covering the shoe. By no means should you sacrifice utility for style when talking about a serious hoop shoe, but come on. Kobe and LeBron’s designs do nothing for me. Mike was done with large checks by his second edition, why do LeBron and Kobe still look like they’re wearing Nike Sportswear when their game calls for some next level type s*&t? Step it up, Nike. The new LeBrons are much better, still have a ways to go. The New Kobe coming out continues the same ho-hum trend. Hell, the house of hoops kicks for the young gunners (Durant, Roy, etc) look sleeker than the Hall of Famers’. When Nate Robinson and Mike Bibby outshine your kick game, you have to go into Phil Knights office and demand better, more exclusive gear, point blank, period. Unfortunately, CP3 and Melo will be looking like chumps this next season as well, but we all know 85% of JB’s attempts are lame. There was a time when it was okay to mix the court and street genres. I guess that is a phenomenon that Nike has outgrown with their attention to the Sportswear Line. Oh well, I’m not the All-World NBA player whose shoe game looks like Bruce Bowen.
