The Nike (SB) Blazer, a classic basketball sneaker, was adapted to meet skateboarders’ standards for comfortable, durable sneakers. The model pictured above was only created recently, but it sure has some of the Blazer’s 70s b-ball feel. The Converse Skateboarding Revere Mid looks pretty much like a lower cut Blazer with extra ankle padding. The two suede pairs pictured above show that there’s no harm in imitating a legend. One is red with blue laces, the other is switched and both ride white midsoles. You can grab these today from Cons retailers, including Solebox. via SnkrFrkr

Charles Barkley’s retros have had their say this year and now it’s Godzilla’s turn. The Nike Blazer Mid Premium pictured above uses a green lizard skin pattern on the upper, evoking the other half of Nike’s classic ‘Godzilla vs. Barkley’ ad campaign. We saw these before as part of the Fall 2009 preview, alongside an edition with clawmarks on the side panels, but we’re still unsure if that timeframe is still accurate. Converse Basketball just lost Dwyane Wade, but their skateboarding division won’t be stopped. The Cons CTS High Digi Red features an interesting red and black pattern on the canvas uppers. It looks like a cross between an 8-bit attempt at reproducing a pearlescent surface and snakeskin. They look great with a white midsole that encases a translucent, ‘CONS’ inscribed outsole. These are available now from select Cons retailers like In4Mation.

Six bottles of Gatorade is more than enough for most people. Chances are, even if you’re really thirsty, you’ve never considered downing 19,200. That’s how many are pictured above in a sort of Gatorade ‘Lite Brite’ created by illuminating inverted bottles of the leading sports drink. In commemoration of Michael Jordan’s induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Gatorade shot a commercial at their party in Chicago’s Margaret Hie Ding Lin Park. Looks like a fun time was had by all at the event where huge posters depicted the same scenes shown on the Limited Edition bottles, Biz Markee mixed the wax and chilled Gatorade was served in champaigne glasses. via Smeeze

This past week, Kid CuDi and Asher Roth put on an amazing show at the Nokia Theatre in New York. Cudi who was joined by 88 Keys on stage was seen wearing a pair of the new Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Don’s after the show. Asher Roth on the other hand was wearing a plain pair of Converse Chuck Taylor’s. Asher was joined by one of Harlem’s biggest rappers, Jim Jones, who performed alongside Asher Roth during his set. DJ Funkmaster Flex also took time out of his busy schedule to attend the concert and was seen alongside both CuDi and Roth after the show.

For our younger readers, the sight of Scantron test sheets in the summer is probably the last ting that most of you want to see. The infamous testing format has been around for a long time and will now be the concept behind a new Blazer High for the kids. The shoe sports a black and grey leather upper with Scantron columns splashed across the side and heel. To add a few more related touches, there is a blank name/address section on the upper heel panel and a number 2 pencil along the heel strip. A set of red laces and a schoolhouse tongue label illustration finish off these creative kicks. These will be available in GS sizes and should be hitting stores in time for back-to-school. Via TSG.

We included these as part of the July 2009 round-up of Nike SB releases, but as evidenced in the photo above, these are clearly worth another look. The Nike SB Dunk Mid Premium ‘Northern Lights’ isn’t a special strain of Dunk that’s only legal in a few states, but rather a shoutout to the southern hemisphere’s breathtaking natural laser light show. The irridescent green Swooshes mimic the Aurora Borealis’ light emissions that eminate from rapid collisions of solar particles. These look just fantastic in a mix of brown suede and black leather, and they’re set to release at select Nike SB retailers today. via N-SB.org

The Air Jordan 1 Flight fuses elements of the Air Jordan 1 with the Air Jordan IV and then adds some new touches to give the shoe some individuality. We showed you an OG Air Jordan 1 colorway of this shoe last week, and now we get a look at six more versions that are scheduled for a Holiday 2009 release. Like many other models from the Jordan Holiday collection, four of these Air Jordan Flight 1′s have 60+ colorways. Of the remaining two, one pair uses a Light Graphite/Black color scheme, with the other adopting the classic Bred palette and a Cement midsole thrown in for good measure. The first colorways will start hitting stores in October, with more dropping in each of the next two months. You can check out the release info and some more pics after the jump.

The Nike Vandal High is back with a subtle new colourway. These are all a cool grey, except for the Swoosh underlay, which looks like it’s probably a 3M reflective material. The upper is made of leather on the toebox, mesh on the side panels and toes, and a checkerboard leather on the rear sections. These look great with a white midsole, which really balances the neutral look. These have already hit select retailers in time for back to school or pick up a pair now on eBay.

The Nike Womens Air Max 1 Safari Pack has seen its two more audacious styles release, so now it’s time to tone things down. This latest release comes to us in a tonal black combination of suede, mesh and Safari Printed leather. Hot red on the top eyelets and lining accent this otherwise dark design and really bring out the Safari dots. These are made ‘for women’ but anyone who can fit into em would be wise to cop a pair now from Caliroots.

Vans likes to collaborate with Japanese streetwear brands, usually to great effect. It’s rare to see them focus on just the ladies but that changes with this new pack. The X-Girl x Vans collection includes a Sk8-Hi and an Era that feature a multicoloured star pattern X-Girl had previously used in collboration with Eastpak. The Sk8s have pink or white laces, while the Eras come with whites or turquoise laces to contrast the pink eyelets. Stick with Sneaker News for updates on this pack’s upcoming release. via HS

No disrespect to Converse, but for sneakerheads who love the NBA, it’s always disappointing when an elite player wears some kicks that don’t mesh with the premier level of their game. Without calling out any names, there have been a bunch of great players who haven’t had great sneaker games, but Wade is a man with style, and it’s only fitting that he finally joins the Jordan team. The news has just been announced that D-Wade signed with Jordan Brand and sneakerheads are already speculating on what a Wade Jordan shoe will look like. With Kobe and LeBron already dominating the Nike Basketball scene, Jordan Brand seems like a good fit for Dwyane, who will definitely be given his chance to shine there.
Upon signing, Dwyane had this to say, “For me, the move to Jordan Brand is a dream come true. As a kid, I grew up on the south side of Chicago idolizing Michael Jordan and have worked hard to achieve the same success that he’s had on the court. I have enormous respect for this brand and all that it stands for. I’m humbled to be a part of the Team Jordan family and I’m looking forward to a great future.”
When asked about landing Wade, Michael Jordan replied, “I’m thrilled to have Dwyane Wade join the Team Jordan family. In his short time in the league, Dwyane has transformed himself into one of the game’s best and is the embodiment of leadership both on and off the court, a signature trait of our athletes. As the Jordan franchise approaches its silver anniversary, Dwyane will become a pinnacle member of the Jordan roster poised to help lead the Brand for years to come.”
Obviously, with the news just breaking, it will probably be a while before we see a signature model, but you know that Sneaker News will keep you in the loop with the latest on the Dwyane Wade/Jordan union. Via SC. Additional photos via dwyane-wade.us
