To the disappointment of many, we are sad to report that the eagerly anticipated U.S. release of the McFly edition of the Nike Hypermax has apparently been cancelled. The shoe was slated to drop this weekend alongside the Tennis Ball Hypermax NFW. The Tennis Ball version will still hit stores, but the McFly has been scratched, reportedly because of legal issues with Universal Studios, who owns the rights to the Back to the Future franchise. It hardly seems like a bad business idea to bring new attention and buzz to your 20 plus year old movie, but we’re sure the studio has their reasons. As you might expect, the upcoming McFly edition of the Hyperdunk Low that was scheduled for a Spring 2010 release will also likely get the axe, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted if anything changes.
