Up and coming rapper, Wale, whose upcoming debut album, Attention Deficit, will be releasing soon, was seen alongside BET’s 106 & Park host, Terrence J, at the Spring 2010 Baby Phat and KLS Collection Fashion Show during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that was held last week in New York. Wale, one of the biggest celebrity sneakerheads, pulled out some OG heat from the sneaker closet as he was seen with a pair of original Air Jordan XVII’s in White and College Blue. Terrence, who might not be as big of a sneakerhead as Wale was seen in some nice Air Jordan I Retro Hi Premier’s in Pewter, Black, and Max Orange. DJ Clue and Melyssa Ford were also in attendance at the event that was held at the Roseland Ballroom.

Nike Snowboarding’s newest addition, the Zoom Kaiju boot, debuted last week in black with a little help from Air Jordan V’s (5) signature mesh. This new colourway switches that for a perforated panel to allow airflow while going in a different direction stylistically. These might be closest to the Air Mowabb were its purple sections blue, but instead they escape Clemson Tigerdom by adding a healthy portion of brown. Whether you plan to rock these on the slopes or take the super-hightop game even further, these should drop soon. Check back with Sneaker News for updates. via SF

Nike’s IAM1 tour celebrating the Air Max 1′s nearly-marathon worth of years is headed for Buenos Aires, Argentina. We got a look at the UK stop where graffiti artist INSA set a standard that the Taipei artists tried to match. In Argentina, we expect a bunch of their local tastemakers, including tattoo artist Pirhana, designers Coty Larguia and Cecilia Glik, art gallerist Ana Torrejon and even rugby union player, Juan M. Hernandez and Agustin Pichot. Click the jump below for the official trailer video. via FRESHNESS

The New Balance 574 is one of the Massachusetts company’s all time best sellers. This four pack with ‘USA’ embroidery on their heels takes the 574 model to a new high by using supple pig suede instead of the typical cow-derived nubuck. That’s a nice new feature, but perhaps not the key innovation for the pack. That might go to the marketing campaign, which features a website hosting some 480 video clips, one of each of these limited edition releases. If you get the joints when they drop this month, you can go to the 574 Clips website and match it to the photo with an alphanumeric code (and the colour, of course). Interesting stuff to draw attention to a stellar design; well done, New Balance. We’ll update you with an exact release date soon. Click the jump below for more photos and a list of retailers set to stock these.

Getting a lot of spotlight in the past few seasons without any sign of stopping, Nike creates another set of Blazers to add to the VNTG series. These seem to have premium pebbled leather, sporting a clean colorway of bone white with either a black or red swoosh. And of course, with all VNTG Nike’s, a faux yellowed sole. I can already imagine how dope these would look worn in and beat, yet still looking fresher than most other pairs. Now available at 21 Mercer.

The Air Jordan L’Style One is Jordan Brand’s aptly named top of the line lifestyle sneaker. If that seems simple to you, sometimes that’s all it takes. The L’Style is a very highcut sneaker with a visibly Air-cushioned sole. The signature element is the laceless velcro closures. This pair in all black frames the one single and one double strap in shiny faux-croc leather. This lets the buttery soft leather on the other parts of the upper to melt into the background. They’re ready for you to cop today from Extra Butter.

Dizzee Rascal’s fourth album is set to drop next Tuesday so Nike is going to drop the Ben Drury-designed Air Max 90s with its name on their tongues this Friday. Into a pink leather tongue, the words ‘TONGUE’ ‘N’CHEEK’ are sewn in red blobby letters. You definitely get the impression of the tongue, and so perhaps the cheek is the creamy soft leather and suede on the uppers. In any case, Dirtee Stank Records made a teaser video with a piece from ‘Chillin Wiv Da Man Dem’. Click the jump to watch the video and get your last minute travel arrangements in order.

That’s quite a spread we see above. Nike Sportswear’s 21 Mercer St. flagship store in New York just got a run of new kicks. These five represent some of the Swoosh’s best all-time designs. From left to right we have a Pittsburg Steelers-looking Air Force 1 Low, then three Air Max runners. The Air Max 2009 rocks a black, grey and blue colourway that’s similar to the Air Max 90 Current to its right, just a different shade of blue. A new Air Max 95 fades from a white midsole up to a black tongue, adding bright red accents to the flipped script. Last but not least is the Air Max Goadome boot in black leather. All of these are available at 21 Mercer and other NSW retailers.

Though many would love enjoying bright days and scorching temperatures, the Summer season will soon fade and bring forth the chill of Winter. Many sneakerheads tend to not look forward to it because snow equals the inability to rock much heat. However, Jordan Brand thinks differently with the Air Jordan Spiz’ike Winterized Boot. Using the silhouette of the Spiz’ike, JB adds a chunkier sole to conquer snowy conditions, along with a lightweight water-repellant lining to make these bad boys waterproof up to two inches. Also throw in the durable round laces to fit that perfect boot look. Endure any harsh envionrment. Available in Black/Anthracite leather, and Dark Cinder/Black in nubuck, cop both pairs at Extra Butter.

Lists are very much like the Air Jordan Spiz’ike Complex ranked as the 47th best sneaker of the last decade. In their own words, “Some make you look like a douche, some are great.” Getting sneakerheads to agree on a top 100 list is essentially impossible. You’re going to read through (part of) this list and get angry that your favourite sneakers are missing or think some should be higher or lower, but this list is undeniably interesting.
And they do several things really well. Even if you liked different co-stars, they did a good job of noting how important collaborative sneaker designs were to the last ten. We see plenty from the early days of Nike SB and the early wave of modern sneakerhead history. They even had the good sense to include your author’s favorite, the perforated suede DQM-designed three pack of Nike Dunk Highs from last year, albeit all the way down at 29. Take a look at a few of them after the jump, read the list and come back to complain/discuss.
