Early last month we gave a detailed look at the meticulous new project, Varsity Bones, from Royalefam and SBTG. Having given a little teaser on their site, we give you a detailed look at the upcoming third installment of the Varisty Bones collection. Dubbed simply as “The Thriller,” this work of art is something which the writer bringing you this article will have to remember to keep refreshing the Royalefam page in order to ensure he gets his size. It seems that SBTG just couldn’t stop paying homage to the late, great King of Pop. Inspired by the MJ’s revolutionary musical short film, Thriller, SBTG himself hopes to have broken boundaries with this Blazer. The upper, resembling the famous red leather jacket, features studded collars, black satin, and a zipper baseline. Launching October 5th on the Royalefam site, no mere mortal can resist the evil of The Thriller.

The last of Michael Jordan’s Six Rings nearly didn’t happen. Jordan couldn’t tally a point in the closing seven minutes and his Chicago Bulls barely escaped the ugly game 7 of the 1998 Eastern Conference Finals, partially because Reggie Miller didn’t score in the game’s final 15 minutes. Despite that not-so-clutch performance, Reggie is still fondly remembered as one of the greatest shooters in NBA history, especially for his heroics against the Knicks in New York City’s Madison Square Garden. These sort of split the difference, commemorating Reggie’s soon-to-be Hall of Fame career with a Pacers Home colourway of the shoe he rocked that season. The Nike Air Total Max Uptempo pictured above is a clear sendup of the Hoosier state’s pro team’s uniforms. They go with white leather and plenty of maize and navy, including a navy and white pinstriped ‘wave’ along the side panels. These are available today at the Foot Locker House of Hoops.

Nike Vandals come in a variety of fabrics but nylon is definitely the first one to come to mind. This tendency birthed a whole series of Nike Dunk High Vandals, which are basically Dunk silhouettes hewn in nylon with a ribbed strip wrapping the shoe atop its midsole. Those same ribbed strips are present on these Vintage (and all) nylon Nike Vandal Highs, but instead of a vertical ribbing, these go with a diagonal cut for an ever so slightly different look. There’s a magenta pair with metallic silver and a tri-coloured strap. That canvas strap is repeated on a black and gold pair, but its purple stripes help that one escape joining the Steelers bandwagon. Expect these at Nike Sportswear retailers next month.

Spike Lee is easily the best represented filmmaker in the world when it comes to inspiring sneaker releases. From the Air Jordan Spiz’ike design and the new Winterized Boots to this year’s Nike Spike Lee Pack, plenty of retro-vibed kicks owe their looks to the Brooklyn native auteur. These Nike Air Trainer II LE pictured above is scheduled to release in December as part of the Spike Lee Pack, and its eye catching elephant print-enhanced black, red and neon green palette will definitely be on the radars of Spike’s fans and those bold enough to rock this wild colorway. Though the sneakerheads there will never see them on local retail shelves, LeBron James showed off the latest colourway of his Asia Exclusive tertiary sneaker at the London stop for the More Than a Game World Tour. The Nike Zoom LeBron Ambassador II is pictured above in a denim look that looks both durable enough for China’s seemingly infinite outdoor courts and stylish enough for everyday wear. These should hit Asian retailers within a couple of weeks. via NLB.net

Nike is giving Gucci a little boost this season in the form of those sneakerheads who just have to match. Not one, but two Nike Dunk Highs with a Gucci-flavored design will hit shelves before ’09 runs dry. The one pictured above is Nike SB’s answer to the Nike Sportswear division’s East vs. West Rivals Pack entrant. Instead of ostrich leather and a gum sole, these go with frayed denim and a red bottom. This update of the insanely rare 2005 version will hit retailers this holiday season and you can cop a sample in Us mens size 9 from dunkaholikz on eBay.

Even though we knew these were coming, they’re still something of a pleasant suprise. The latest addition to DJ Clark Kent’s 112 Pack is a downright stunning Nike Air Force 25 Low Premium. The AF25 has been around since its launch for the huge birthday celebration a couple years back, but it’s safe to say that it has never looked as good. Though the upper is all smooth silver save the elephant print lines and Swooshes, these manage to show the Air Force 25 silhouette in a new light, all at once revealing its connection to the original and showing promise for future releases. The ‘new light’ quip is somewhat literally true as well, since all of that silver is 3M reflective material. It’s an Asia Exclusive, so you can cop yours today from Kix-Files.

2009 is turning out to be a big comeback year for the Nike Posite line. In addition to new and Retro releases from the Air Penny and Foamposite collections, Nike is also introducing the latest addition to the Posite family, the Zoom Skyposite. To celebrate the innovative foam models, Nike has decided to add the beloved material to some older Nike classics in some familiar colorways sure to delight long-time fans of the Foamposites. As you may have already seen, the Blazer High will be receiving a full Blue foam upper with hits of Black and even a strip of carbon fiber along the bottom. Joining the Foamposite-inspired Blazer will be a Big Nike High that’s dipped in the iridescent purple hue that has become known as Eggplant. Both models are expected to hit House of Hoops in the very near future, but while you’re waiting, you can check out some more pics of each after the jump. Via SC.

It was almost exactly a year ago when pics first emerged of the Nike Zoom Flight Club, a shoe fused with contemporary technology and a mid 90′s aesthetic. NBA players like Tony Parker and J.R. Smith showed off their PE versions around the time of the 2009 All-Star Game and the shoe has gone on to perhaps be best known for its inclusion in the summer’s Transformers 2 Pack. Now the Zoom Flight Club is back with a pack of its own, taking a page from the design of the Megatron edition to create the Invisible Pack. The collection will consist of four new colorways of the Zoom Flight Club, each using a completely clear plastic upper placed over a mesh underlay. The Zoom Flight Club Invisible Pack will feature Red, Black and Blue (not pictured) versions, as well as a Neon Yellow edition that will surely draw comparisons to the popular Tennis Ball Hypermax. No word yet if these will be hitting the States, but you can already get them from at RMKstore on eBay.

Last week, we showed you a look at sneakerhead Jason Negron’s innovative new take on the custom kicks game. Rather than painting shoes, Jason actually removes and switches the outsoles of some Nike classics to give birth to some fresh never-before-seen colorways. The Air Foamposite seems to be Jason’s weapon of choice as you’ve already seen with his Eggplant and Neon concoctions. Now we turn our attention to another set of mix and matched Air Foamposites. As you can see, Jason has taken the Pearl Foamposite Pro and the Black/Red Air Foamposite and swapped the soles to create two new versions that look like they could have (or maybe should have) come straight from Beaverton.
Unlike the set that we showed you last week, this switch-up presented a slightly bigger challenge being that the Foamposite Pro sports an alternate version of the original outsole. As you can see, Jason was up to the task and both pairs look amazing. Keep reading to see more pics of both and to get in touch with Jason about whipping something up for you, contact him through PackerShoes. We have been assured that there is more magic in the works, so stay tuned for more of these unique custom creations in the near future.

2, 5 and 9 might be Manny Pacquiao’s lucky numbers. On May (5) second (2) of this year (oh 9), Pacquiao became the first man to knock out England’s Ricky Hatton. He did it in 2 minutes, 59 seconds. If there were only 259 or 529 of these amazing Nike Trainer 1s, we’d understand, but instead we find the numbers under a panel of translucent outsole. Those panels are among the scant few details on these kicks that aren’t black, grey or neon green. In the right light, the glow in the dark grey elements shift to that same shade of green. The ‘Lights Out’ theme is a perfect way to commemorate the Philippines’ native son in grand fashion, and previously we thought they’d only be released there. As it turns out, there’s going to be a release tomorrow, Friday, September 25th at a smaller-than-Tier-Zero list of US retailers that you can read, along with more photos after the jump. via FRESHNESS
