Reebok Pump Technology 20th Anniversary The Pump Retro

HSSSSSS.  It’s a sound that helped Reebok stay on the forefront of athletic footwear.  Quickly being eclipsed by the likes of Nike, Reebok brought about a new innovation in custom fitted sneakers.  However this new Pump Technology was not successful in making sales, but rather gave them some  spotlight, as The Pump debuted in ’89 at a whopping $200.  Even when it was brought back, coincidentally under the Bringback moniker, it just didn’t quite do it for consumers despite the tons of people who found nostalgia in it being the shoe that represented Dominique Wilkins in his golden era.

But with the more current trend era giving much more of a appreciation for (super)hi-tops, Reebok finds it only appropriate to celebrate their 20 years of Pump Technology with the retro of The Pump.  The tooling may seem similar to those already familiar with the more popular Pump styles which Reebok has already been pushing for quite some time now.  However, this oldie features a much higher ankle structure, but more importantly differing from the latter styles, the air release valve is located on the heel tab rather than on the tongue conveniently right next to the pump itself.  More importantly is its apparent superior quality in the materials, certainly more impressive than a bunch of stuff coming out of Nike/Jordan lacking in craftsmanship.  With the first colorway coming out in a classic black/white scheme, these are sure to get some more love than its previous drops.  Expect these to be dropping in low quantities at select retailers sometime in November.  via Crooked Tongues.

adidas Originals ZX 700 Boat Collection

Something borrowed, something blue . . . something like that.  With the latest batch of adidas ZX 700 Boat releases, we recognize the formula for one, see another in an oreo-with-skim-milk colourup and find a new and welcome surprise for this marriage of classic runner and boat shoe.  The familiar pair mixes a recognizable dress-casual fabric with browns and orange just like another pair from last year.

Intead of that pair’s plaid ankle, these joints opt for medium-waled corduroy.  The crunchy cookie pair goes with a high contrast white and black blocking and adds a strip of royal blue to nudge your outfit along.  Our favourites are the above pair in a super knappy grey suede that looks like they’d actually be good for a rough and tumble boat shoe except, well, they’re suede.  Consider your climate and choose the appropriate pair(s) from Caliroots.

Converse Chuck Taylor Woolrich Pack

Plenty of classic sneakers have gotten the winterized touch this year but these might be the coziest looking of them all.  The Woolrich for Converse Chuck Taylor All Star comes to us in two woolen colourways.  Both have a healthy dose of black, with a blue pair incorporating a buffalo check and a red pair going with a magnified plaid.  Both have waxed cotton laces and brass eyelets for a nice outdoorsy look.  Cop yours today from Caliroots.

Nike SB Stefan Janoski Black Alligator Skin

Back in May, we gave you a look at the full Stefan Janoski collection preview and as you might remember, one of the standouts of the bunch was a luxurious Black alligator skin edition of the shoe. We have not seen or heard anything about this particular colorway since the showcase, but now a new image has just emerged. As you can see the shoe sports a classy-looking synthetic alligator skin upper with some subtle touches of Gold on the Swoosh, midsole stripe and tongue label branding. It’s still unknown if and when these will be hitting SB retailers, but for now, check out the pics and stay tuned for more info. Via NSB.

Kazuki x adidas Originals Holiday Collection

Recently released is a collaboration collection from Kazuki Kuraishi x Adidas. This collection features 10 pairs of sneakers all with signature design accents from the Japanese designer. These designs range from very simple, crisp and clean, to more exciting eye-catching designs. The campus 80’s fur has an eye-popping leopard print, and the ZXZ ADV feature an army camouflage details. While many of the others from this collection are a bit more conservative and stick to the simple Adidas mold. The Superstar 80′s Whiz, Campus 80s, and Vulcanised Boot are all a bit simpler, but have different colors and textures that still set them apart from the usual Adidas lineup. The Kball and 7 hole boot models have simple designs but are still obviously a collaborative works noted by the small details, like a textured toe box and suede appliqués for the 3 signature stripes. The whole Kazuki x Adidas collection can be purchased online at Size.

Celebrity Feet: Forest Whitaker Nike Dunk High

Forest Whitaker who is the voice of Ira in the upcoming movie Where the Wild Things Are was at the NY Premiere a few days ago wearing an interesting Nike Dunk High. While we do not want to start any rumors but with the colors and materials used, these could potentially be a Where the Wild Things Are collaboration Dunk. Lets just note one more time, we are just assuming that they are. They also have a close resemblance to the co.jp Curry Nike Dunk Low from several years back but these are a Dunk High and have what seems to be a scale like material on the heel. Where The Wild Things Are opens tomorrow in US theaters, make sure to check it out.

Nike Air Trainer SC White Grey Beet Sample Available on eBay

We might not see quite as many Trainer retros from Nike once their sweeping Bo Jackson-themed releases finish up, but this colourway has us hoping it returns to the regular rotation.  This Nike Air Trainer SC is scheduled for a November release, but the timeless colourway and perfect balancing of white/grey/black and nylon reinforcements on the side panels that give the beet red hits a tonal look.  If a month is too long for you, cop a sample in US mens size 9 from verbdws on eBay.
