Back in August, House of Hoops opened up one of its new locations in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and to celebrate, Nike released two Philadelphia-inspired Hyperize colorways because of the store’s proximity to the City of Brotherly Love. This weekend will see another new House of Hoops open its doors, this time at the Northline Mall in Houston, Texas. Once again, to commemorate the new store, two new colorways of the Hyperize will be dropping this weekend, both inspired by Houston sports teams. The classic color schemes from the Astros and Rockets have both made their way onto the Hyperize. The Astros edition sports a mostly Orange upper with additional Yellow, Navy and White accents, while the Rockets version keeps it just a little more subtle with a Red upper highlighted by splashes of White, Yellow and Black. Both pairs will drop this weekend at the grand opening, so if you’re a Houston die-hard, don’t let these pass you by. Via FootLockerUnlocked.

If Soulja Boy can make a ‘song’ out of just the two words ‘Gucci’ and ‘bandana’, why can’t Reebok double up on their Gucci-inspired swag? Hop up out the bed and take a look at the latest Reebok Ex-O-Fit Hi with forest green and red accents. Whereas the earlier mita-designed pair went with a black base plus white framing, these joints opt for a mix of grey and white that has this pair actually looking like some of Gucci’s earlier sneaker work. These are far more affordable, and available now exclusively from mita sneakers.

Having done well with an ultramodern design for the initial drop back in February, the Alexander McQueen-designed Puma Ribcage Sport is back for Fall/Winter 2009. These two new pairs are said to represent the rivalry between tigers and cranes. While these computer printed designs are quite abstract, it’s clear that the TPU ‘ribcage’ overlay is blacklight-sensitive, adding even more futuristic flair. Both pairs are available now at select Puma retailers. via FRESHNESS

Sometimes, samples look even better than the final product. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the pictures speak for themselves on this one. Dubbed ‘Jordan Elev8′ to conceal its identity, this prototype Air Jordan XXI (21) is evidence that good ideas can take time. This bright red suede pair is all at once completely ’21′ and utterly different. Most notably, the huge mesh ankle inserts have something of an awkward gap at the top, and were wisely replaced on the production model by a smooth vent. A different take on both the outer forefoot and outsole pods offer more insight on the design process. Enjoy more photos after the jump and stick with Sneaker News in case these ever pop up on the ‘bay. via CK

Here comes the latest Nike Du- wait, that’s not a Dunk? Steve Nash’s new signature sneaker may bear a resemblance to that classic basketball silhouette, but the Nike Cradle Rock Low has a flavor all its own. These are a clear takeoff of the Phoenix Suns’ colours with a dark twist that should be perfect outside of Arizona or just outside. Grab yours today from ID4shoes on eBay.

The Scarabeus edition is based on the Egyptian scarab beetle and features an iridescent shade of Red known as Very Berry. The Red upper is accented by a White midsole and Black outsole, with the most notable attribute coming by way of the beetle tongue label. The other new Court Force High is based on the Eye of Horus and sports a White upper that is spiced up by Hot Red, Radiant Emerald and Metallic Gold accents, as well as a hieroglyphics pattern featuring the Eye of Horus symbol on the tongue label and ankle section. Every year, sneakerheads anxiously wait on the edge of their seats to get a look at the new signature Air Jordan model that arrives annually. Reactions vary once we get a look at the shoe, but up until that point, we day daydream of what might be coming and expectations are always high. A few weeks back, we brought you a look at a sample photo of the Black/Red/Grey Air Jordan 2010 colorway, and now we finally get our best look yet at what figures to be at least pretty close to the finished version. As you can see, it looks as though the shoe sports a variety of materials on the upper with areas of patent, suede and full-grain leather and a perforated midsection covered by the extra large circle Jumpman logo. Stay tuned for more on the Air Jordan 2010 in the near future and be sure to let us know what you think of what you’ve seen so far. Via HoopChina.

We know that a lot of our readers probably have a tough time finding proper storage space and methods for their sneaker collections thanks to the many years of accumulating kicks, and here’s a look at one of the more unorthodox approaches. Here we take a gander at photographer Romain Laurent’s tribute to sneaker culture, an image of a collector standing at his closet door while being engulfed by a mountain of his sneakers as they pour out of the closet. The photography is beautiful and the subject matter obviously hits close to home with us, so we thought our readers would appreciate a look at this varied assortment of jumbled up sneaker heat. Keep reading after the jump for the full photo, so you can scour the pile for your favorites and be sure to let us know what treasures you find. To see some other shots from the “TAS” series that this photo is a part of, you can check them out at Romain Laurent’s site. Via NT.

The last time Lil Wayne made an appearance on our Celebrity Feet column, he was seen rocking the adidas x Jeremy Scott JS 3 Tongue Attitude. He’s been seen in Nikes during the MTV Movie Awards and a pair of iced out Supras during the BET Awards, but he’s been seen in the adidas Jeremy Scott several times. Ron Artest has been a Laker for all of one game and there’s already conflict with he and Kobe Bryant! It’s not a disagreement between the two, per se, but probably more of a contractual thing that prompted Ron-ron to change from one of the many heavily-white Nike Zoom Kobe IV colourways into some yellow and white Peaks at halftime. As for Kobe himself, it was a full game in the sick concord to white gradient pair of ZK4s. There should be alot of interesting looks from Lakerland this season, so stick with Sneaker News for more closeups of what the pros are wearing.
