Pink, once a taboo color for men secure of their sexuality, has slowly crept into mainstream menswear and footwear. But the color has also become a symbol for a struggle against breast cancer. We have already seen that Nike has teamed up with the NFL to produce ‘Think Pink” gear sporting the feminine color to promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Shortly after you saw the trend cross over to the b-ball courts when King James was driving down the lane with a pair of pink Nike Zoom Soldier III’s. And now we have another basketball sneaker, the Nike Hyperize, also colored in the same fashion. With this aforementioned footwear containing and equal amount of white and pink, these Hyperizes sport much more pink, with white only as accents. With the shoe having such an innovative look, the exuberant color only shouts out for more attention. Which in this case is the exact purpose, hopefully bringing more spotlight for a just cause. via MarqueeSole.

These for designed in collaboration with the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and have nothing to do with the whole Think Pink campaign.

@devaint
Actually, both the ‘Think Pink’ (now called ‘Pink Zone’), is run by the WBCA, who also runs the Yow fund.
from http://www.wbca.org/pinkzone.asp:
The WBCA began the WBCA Pink Zone®, formerly known as “Think Pink”, in 2007 as an initiative to raise breast cancer awareness in women’s basketball, on campuses and in communities. Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women’s basketball coach, served as the catalyst for the initiative after her third reoccurrence of breast cancer in 2006. In 2007, more than 120 schools unified for this effort and helped make the inaugural year a success. In 2008, over 1,200 teams and organizations participated, reaching over 830,000 fans and raising over $930,000 for breast cancer awareness and research. The 2009 campaign raised over $1.3 million, reached over 912,000 fans, unified more than 1,600 participating teams and organizations, and saw 56+ schools break attendance records at their event. The WBCA’s charity of choice is the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund®, in partnership with The V Foundation. The WBCA strongly encourages all donations from Pink Zone games to be given to this Fund.
It’s good to know they’re working together

Ahhh ok, that explains it. I had thought Think Pink died out, didn’t know it was just a name change to Pink Zone.

not usually a fan of pink shoes, but the futuristic design of the hyperize really wins the colorway over.
