Packer Shoes x Dominique Wilkins x Reebok Pump20 Release Event Recap

Can you name a player from the 80′s that was more deserving of a signature sneaker than Dominique Wilkins, but never had one?  Not only did Dominique have the sensational skills on the floor to become a fan-favorite, but he also had the swagger, style and showmanship to be a very marketable endorser.  Unfortunately, Nique never got his own shoe as a player, but thanks to Packer Shoes and their Reebok Pump20 collaboration, the day has finally come. From the line of collectors, some who camped outside of Packer’s since the night before in the cold and rain, it was obvious that a lot of sneakerheads were very much behind the cause, not just because the shoe looks great, but also thanks to the inspiration and history behind it.

The mob scene outside of Packer’s front door anxiously waited for their chance to cop a pair of the super-limited Nique Pumps and meet the man of the hour. Dominique made his way in through the back entrance at around 10pm, instantly sending the crowd outside into a frenzy as they caught their first glimpse of the Human Highlight Film through the store windows. Once Dominique got settled in, the Packer crew began to let the dedicated camp-out survivors inside a few at a time to claim the fruits of their labor. As you might expect, the 31 pairs sold out as fast as the staff could bring them out of the stockroom, each complete with a nice package that included stickers, a poster, DJ VinRoc mixtape and of course, the matching t-shirt. Unfortunately, not everyone who showed up got themselves a pair of the Packer Pumps, so it was then time to scoop up the two OG Pump colorways.

After each purchase, consumers could take their goods over to the other side of the store to meet Dominique and get some goodies signed. The guest of honor, who looked like he could still suit up for an NBA team tomorrow, was extremely gracious to all in attendance, eager to shake hands, sign merchandise and talk hoops with one and all. After putting in his work at the autograph table, Nique said farewell and took his exit, leaving the packed house feeling very satisfied with the experience, so much so, that nobody wanted to leave the store. Well after midnight, Packer’s was still mobbed with folks enjoying the electric vibe of the night. It may have taken 20 years for the Dominique signature Pump to be created, but last night made the wait well worthwhile to all involved, including Nique himself, who took the modest route when asked about the tribute, but couldn’t help but to glow as he admired the shoe and basked in the overwhelming love from Packer Shoes and all in attendance.

Air Jordan History of Flight I VIII White/Red 25th Anniversary Collection

If  you saw these on some dude’s feet rather than on display, your first instinct would probably be to burst into laughter at how fake they are.  After all, these weren’t even a real colorway!  But this Jordan set is certainly not going to be ridiculed.  For our viewing pleasure, the entire Air Jordan collection is on exhibition in a special unified color scheme, following the concept of the hyped white/white collection seen after the launch of Jumpman23‘s History of Flight featurette.  The entire upper take on white, while the linings and soles have red, all topped off with black laces.  Some of the Jay’s seen may resemble pre-existing colorways, but get it straight- none of these have ever been seen before in a pallette layout as this.  To make them even more unique, all the inner linings feature a lux (and quite comfy looking) quilting stitching.  Enjoy the shots, the rest of the Jordan collection to come soon!

Nike Zoom Kobe IV Aqua Black Red Sample

We’ve seen so many colourways of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV at this point that pretty much nothing could shock us.  Even with the wacky colourway pictured above, that’s still true, which isn’t to say that this new pair isn’t exciting.  Among the first thoughts when viewing the combination of turquoise, white, black and red is that they’re reminiscent of the old school Vancouver Grizzlies uniforms.  Enjoy the photos of this latest gradient ZK4, cos that’s about as close as you’re ever going to get.  via ISS

Air Jordan Force Fusion XIII (13) White Black Varsity Red Release Reminder

With so many potential pick-ups coming up in the next couple of weeks, it’s hard to keep track of all the heat.  What to cop?  What to pass?  What will I regret because of a pending budget?  Though many ‘heads have long been over the Jordan Force assortment, other may be glad to be reminded of its release.  Despite being abruptly set aside to fall short of being MJ’s last championship shoe, the XIII is still adorned for it’s “Black Cat” look, as well as the recognition that these were the last sneakers he wore with the Bulls in a regular season.  So for those insisting that this still does justice to the Jordan legacy, pick em up tomorrow at Footlocker.

adidas Originals Star Wars Collection – Princess Leia Preview

Star Wars mania helped to pave the way for modern sneakerhead culture.  We don’t mean to forget about baseball cards or other types of action figures, it’s just that hardcore Star Wars fans are so passionate about keeping their stuff ‘deadstock’ that there’s an obvious carryover (The Cool Kids, anyone?).  Now that Jeff Staple has just turned in his second Star Trek-inspired Pack of Airwalks (please, for the love of the Force, do not confuse the two!), we’re finally getting our first glimpse at adidas’ upcoming Star Wars collection.  This pair of what looks to be Top Ten His is modeled after Princess Leia’s unforgettable golden ‘slave’ bikini.  Get ready to add these to your size 10 Jedis and check out more photos after the jump.  via nitro:licious

Nike WMNS Terminator Hi Perf PRM QS + Terminator Hi Belt PRM QS

Needless to say that Nike has pushed the Terminator to forefront of Nike’s arsenal, making quite a bit of noise in the sneaker realm.  But plethora of crack-designs isn’t strictly for us dudes.  These two WMNS Terms definitely size up to some of the releases we’ve seen recently.  Based on a Day & Night theme, they’re both unified by black chic, and opted to differenciate each other through detail.  The pair on the left, representing Day, opts for a simple all-leather upper with a shepra lining – cozy for the upcoming season.  They also come with rather long laces, most likely conveying a ‘long, hard day working’ type of message.  For the Night pair, however, Nike decided to go for a slightly ‘louder’ look.  This time rocking buttery nubuck, the ankle is accompanied with a studded belt which circumferences twice around.  Both believed to be Quicktrike releases, these will be available at Nike Harajuku.

Nike Air Force 1 Low Premium Snowflakes (Christmas) Sport Red Light Bone

It’s always good to see creations conceptualized around a current season or its surroundings- like a mastered chef always changing his menu to adapt to tastes are in season.  But when it comes this theory when applied to shoe design, there’s always the risk that the end-result may look a little campy.  Nike drops these AF1′s to indicate the flurry of this upcoming winter.  Looking like a pair Santa would rock in a Coca-Cola commercial, the vibrant red dominating the shoe is broken up by a white midsole, lining and laces.  Also red the insole features an all-over pattern of tiny white circles, like a gentle snow fall, which can also be found on the tongue.  The snowflake motif is extended onto the laces, where snowflakes are embossed into the metal aglets.  Ho-ho-ho, a gift from Dunk.com.cn
