Nike’s interesting use of ultra-modern typefaces on their upcoming KD2 is quite similar to Kevin Durant himself. Both are simultaneously hard to see, but when present are smoother than pretty much anything we’ve ever seen, all while being so frail we wonder if they’ll blow away. This is especially true of the ‘Two’ script below the medial strap’s ‘KD’ insignia, which is smaller on the shoe than it appears in this description. Another cool use of text is the unmistakable Futura Book (think ‘Calvin Klein Jeans’) that gives Durant’s embossed tongue tag a hint of high fashion.
Aside from the text details here, we see a shoe that will likely carry a bargain price and stay under the radar just like Durant has while toiling in obscurity for the Zombie Sonics. This pair carries a black base that finds life in the bright blue and orange accents to match OKC’s road uniforms. Tumbled nubuck on the strap and just above the sole would be the signature feature (aside from the text, of course), except for the aggressively ribbed heel cup. Stick with Sneaker News for updates on these and all Kevin Durant sneakers. via Kenlu

When you’re talking about hills so steep that driving is hard, much less walking, you just know some crazy guy is out there thinking, “How awesome would it be to skate down this?!” San Francisco, CA is notorious for its steep inclines and is famously home to Keith Hufnagel’s namesake skateshop. Huf himself snapped some photos of Nike SB rider Omar Salazar riding from their storefront on Sutter St. and ripping through downtown traffic at high speeds. Peep the grippy advantage of Huf’s black canvas Nike SB Blazer in photos and video after the jump. via HB

A black pair of these popped up in the twelfth issue of Japan’s Shoes Master magazine, and now Hiroshi Fujiwara’s ‘NOISE’ concept has graced a white Nike Terminator High. These are a model of simplicity: all white full grain leather, white stitching and a Swoosh outline of perforations. This simple canvas lets the metallic silver section of heel shine, including the operative print in place of the typical block lettered branding. No word yet on their release, but we’ll keep you posted. via Honeyee

SneakersNStuff has been as busy as anybody in Europe lately, collaborating with adidas and Reebok on two pairs of fuzzy grey kicks. This is the latter, of course, their contribution to the 20th Anniversary of The Pump. Their teasers showed us a bunch of grey shades, and now we get a sense of how the wool and suede design comes together. No fewer than five shades of grey give way to an explosion of orange on the tongue and laces, including one pair that looks to have a grey ‘SNS’ geometrical pattern. The infuriating part about these is that there are only 31 pairs, but if you’re first in line on November 20th, feel free to grab an extra size 12 for yours truly. via HB

The immortal ‘Space Jam’ Air Jordan XI (11) Retro will hit retailers next month, and even though he could probably get a pair early, Houston’s finest, Bun B drafted up a pair of insane Nike Air Force 1 Bespokes with a similar makeup. The black upper is patent leather on the toe and a rugged ballistic nylon on the mid and rear. All of that rests on a white midsole and icey translucent outsole, just like the Jays. A pretty sharp example of some exciting new fabrics down at 21 Mercer; schedule your Bespoke design appointment today.

Acquired in the offseason, Rasheed Wallace, has helped the Boston Celtics get off to a hot start this 2009-10 NBA Regular Season, and he’s done so not only in a new Boston Celitcs’ uniform but also in a new pair of Nike Air Force 1 High Torch PE’s. When we originally showcased ‘Sheed’s “NBA Feet” last month, we were under the perction that ‘Sheed was wearing a pair of Nike Air Force 1 High’s in Black and Ice but now upon closer inspection it looks as if Nike has included one of it’s newest materials, Torch, in Sheed’s Air Force 1 High PE. The new Torch material is supposed to not only be lighter but also more breathable. No word yet on whether or not we’ll see an Air Force 1 Torch come to retail. via HK-Kicks

Times have changed. Many of our childhood idols no longer grace us with their athletic presence. Many of the designers of our favorite childhood pairs have moved onto other positions or simply are trying to conform to current affairs. You may have acknolowedge that even some of the streetwear brands that have been around have changed their look, transitioning to more of a higher-end feel. Face it, they’re growing up. And some of us are growing up as well. And so, as much as we love to embrace sports and street culture, our inclination for a mature look better reflects this theory of coming of age.
A quickstrike release of the Air Royal Mid was flipped to look more like refined lifestyle shoe. A great look, Nike-heads may have questioned the style of the shoe itself. But Eddie Cruz gives a glimpse at a surprising alternative. The staple Nike silhouette gets the same treatment, looking almost exactly like the Wine/Deep Burgundy Air Royal Mids, down to the perforated Swoosh and lace choice. The only apparent difference, other than the actual style of shoe of course, is that these AF1′s have a solid white midsole while the Royal Mids have brown outlined with white. Expect these to start popping up at select Nike dealers.

Just a few days ago, we gave a look at these upcoming Hyperdunk Lows, and now we have another look at these samples thanks to MarqueeSole. As a low top silo, the Hyperdunk takes on a completely different feel, as if it were a completely different Nike style. It’s interesting to see such a shoe that introduced such ingenious new technology possibly jeopardize ankle support in a real basketball scenario, but then again, we don’t really see Kobe’s performance being compromised with his low cut sigs. Nonetheless, these add a new flare to the lows we previewed way back because of its beloved Chi-town colors. Keep posted for further info.

The adidas Forum has seen its fair share of collaborative releases this year. From the expansive Def Jam 20th Anniversary Collection to a dope zippered version from Nom de Guerre, we’ve seen a wide range from the classic basketball sneaker that will be pushed a little further with this design by New York’s own, Dalek. Known to friends and family as James Marshall, Dalek added graphics to this black Forum Mid that remind us of the artwork on Kanye West’s second album (and blog). You can grab yours today from SnS.

Pink, once a taboo color for men secure of their sexuality, has slowly crept into mainstream menswear and footwear. But the color has also become a symbol for a struggle against breast cancer. We have already seen that Nike has teamed up with the NFL to produce ‘Think Pink” gear sporting the feminine color to promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Shortly after you saw the trend cross over to the b-ball courts when King James was driving down the lane with a pair of pink Nike Zoom Soldier III’s. And now we have another basketball sneaker, the Nike Hyperize, also colored in the same fashion. With this aforementioned footwear containing and equal amount of white and pink, these Hyperizes sport much more pink, with white only as accents. With the shoe having such an innovative look, the exuberant color only shouts out for more attention. Which in this case is the exact purpose, hopefully bringing more spotlight for a just cause. via MarqueeSole.

Foam-freaks have been in a stir about these Copper Foamposites ever since images started popping up of Wale’s very early possession of these, being that they will not be dropping til next February. To be honest, we been thinking how hasn’t Nike dropped this as a colorway a while ago? Many may just like the pop of the copper tone, but there is quite a relevancy. Think about it… Penny Hardaway… copper pennies!? Connection or not, these will definitely be one of the more highly anticipated drops for early Spring. And now you can enjoy a detailed look thanks to VMVinc.com
