adidas was doing some intriguing, if crazy, stuff with Kobe Bryant’s signature sneakers before he left for Nike. Aside from his eternal urge to be like (better than?) Mike, we think that some special treatment from Beaverton had something to do with it. From the looks of this Nike Air Flightposite, it seems clear that the Swoosh was courting KB as far back as 1999 (and of course they tried to sign him out of high school). It’s the ‘standard’ eggplant purple Flightposite, but this one has ‘KOBE’ embroidered in yellow on the heel strap.
