Ever watch KIDS and wonder if it exaggerated inner city youth in the 90′s? The answer is no. There was a time when a skater’s life was simple: skate, down a malt liquor with a drug of choice. Ok, maybe some things haven’t really changed. Etnies enthuses that philosophy collabing with Colt 45, the typical top choice for malts. Here’s a look at the shoe, colored in the bottles colors and embedded with a Colt 45 embroidery. Just to make the celebration even better, a 24 oz. can is included in the custom box. via Rad Collector.

Wow skaters are rewriting history all the time. The target market of malt liquor companies? As a black man I think that’s bullshit. Etnies can burn in hell as well. ‘Socially conscious’ shoe company collabing with some fake ass liquor company.

I agree with Rocky. When I saw the headline of the article I thought why would they do that. Not a good look. I don’t care what color you are.

@7
‘Ya boy TokyoMike’s on the right page’ (is anyone else obsessed with JerseyShore lol)
But yea, this is obviously a tongue-in-cheek reference.
Rocky brings up a good point too, in mentioning that this drink was heavily marketed to black men. So, it’s interesting to look back on this and see how skate culture (especially in New York, as depcited in KIDS) brought together so many seemingly disparate influences, into a sport that was originally all California surf bums.
In other words, not the most subtle collaboration, but however crass, it’s a statement on skate culture that Nike SB, Newcastle Brown Ale or Heineken couldn’t make (or wouldn’t allow).
