Sneaker News has the pleasure of being out on the left coast this week to cover the media unveiling of the Zoom Kobe V, and to get us in b-ball mode, we took a trip over to the legendary Venice Beach courts to take in some genuine Cali hoops action. The courts have been immortalized in a number of movies, with the most famous example being White Men Can’t Jump. Local streetball celebrity Mouthpiece was on hand to introduce some of Venice Beach’s best ballers and provide some colorful play by play for the crowd. The court was covered with Kobe IV’s and LeBron VII’s, but the real anticipation is for an official look at the Zoom Kobe V in the flesh. Stay tuned later today for all of our upcoming coverage from the Kobe V event.

This isn’t too often the case, but Nike Snowboarding looks to have taken a page or two out of the adidas playbook for Danny Kass’ latest Zoom Force 1 boot. First off, the boots are equipped with extra ‘tongues’ bearing American and Canadian flags, which is something we’ve seen from the ever-flamboyant Jeremy Scott. It doesn’t stop there, though, as the overall look of the design, and especially the rear sections, have a vague Star Wars feel. Maybe it’s cos Kass is reppin’ his birth year of 1982, which would explain the overlap in ‘futuristic’ styling. Given the Olympic reference, these should be out soon. via CtotheJL//WeAreCivil

What’s a blockbuster film without the previews at the beginning? Here’s a big sneak peek at what Nike has in store for us in 2010. The Nike Air Max +2 sports the full Air Max sole found the Air Max 2009 and the Flywire technology that’s been running rampant throughout Nike’s athletic footwear. The rear heel is also reminiscent of the heel found on the Air Max 2003 and 2004, and the full mesh toe-box over the inner skeleton are also nice touches. A grey/red and black/silver colourway are set to drop in August of ‘10 at the first of the month, with a black/green following it a month later. Keep up with Sneaker News as we keep you updated with more info regarding this upcoming Nke Air Max +2 release. via NT

Need a sneaker that can stand up to your graffiti expeditions in the freezing cold Scandavian night? Denmark’s Wood Wood is set to dominate this niche with the new Nike LunarWood Tier Zero release. It’s an updated and upgraded ACG Wildwood that comes with a super-comfy LunarLite sole. The ‘lunar’ theme comes up again on the ACG-crested tongue, which is enhanced with a tiny crescent moon embroidery. These joints will hit Wood Wood’s Copenhagen flagship on December 11th, followed by a release through select Nike Sportswear retailers on the 19th. via HS

The latest colorway of the Puma Slimstream High is truly a Monster, as this Black/Red Leopard colorway is truly a frankenstein of textures. It combines red leopard print pony-hair on the tongue, toe-instep, and center panel, a pebbling texture on the ankle liner, black ostrich leather aptly placed on the center trim, and black, luxurious snakeskin on the toe-box. Very rarely do we see four indulgent materials in one shoe, so don’t let these treats pass you, as these Slimstream High Monsters are available for overseas purchase. Via Size?.

Nike Basketball has shown us a lot of reasons to be excited about 2010, not the least of which is the new Air Max Hyped model. They’re almost like a strapless version of the Air Max Rise, which means that we now have three new sneakers for fall 2010 that refer to the Hyper- series but bear almost none of the previous releases’ characteristics. With these, you get a sleek nubuck and suede upper that sits in an interestingly patterned heel cup, which is in turn, atop a visible Air bag. Keep it glued to Sneaker News for updates on all 2010 Nike Basketball shoes. via Kenlu

Supra made the Skytop II relatively hard to get. Its introductory ‘Gradient’ colourway was limited to 600 pairs as Chad Muska toured the world to mark their release. Each pair is individually numbered, and Muska’s Factory 413 store was in a special place to get their hands on the last little bit remaining from this run. Very few are stil left, so be sure to act fast when they drop online at noon Pacific today.

The Air Jordan 16.5 White – Black – Varsity Royal colourway is now available for purchase at select Nike retailers. Before you go out and cop your pair, take a gander at some additional pictures and take notice of the meticulous detailing integrated into these 16.5s. The Braille on the heel, the Jordan print that could be read upside-down, the plastic peel on the heel, and diamond stitching on the tongue are just some of the fine points on these Team Jordans, and the Jordan XVI and Jordan XVII are undoubtedly the blueprint behind this conception. The attention to detail evident in these 16.5s further establishes that Jordan Brand sets the bar high. via Kenlu.

In a 20th Anniversary year stuffed with Trainer retros, the new Nike Trainer 1 set a new standard. It’s such a good multi-purpose training shoe that instead of offering a real revision, Nike decided to just stick with a slightly modified version of what’s already working.
Enter the new Nike Air Trainer 1.2, a shoe that brings the Air Trainer 1′s revolutionary forefoot strap onto a higher cut of the Trainer 1 with a new Flywire pattern. One pair has the OG Chlorophyll look, and will be joined by a Steelers-lite colourway, one for the Yankees and/or Cowboys, and the obligatory white/black/red nod. Stick with Sneaker News for updates on these and all 2010 Nike previews. via NT

We’ve had our fair share of Patta collabs this year, mainly in part that everyone wanting to acknowledge Patta‘s 5-year grind. We’ve seen three pairs already, here’s another teaser. Unfortunately no detailed images, actually- no full images at all. But what we can assume is that this pair might take on the simplicity that the white/green and white/purple pairs take on. What we can disclose is that this Tier 0 pair drops next Friday, December 18th. Keep posted for further info.

To this point, all of the ‘Hyper-’ kicks from Nike Basketball emerged as a single deviation on a previous version. Hyperdunk begat Hypermax and then Hyperlite, which changed its name to Hyperize and gave birth to the upcoming Max Hyperize. All of those have Flywire-equipped side panels (save a few notable exceptions) and ankle cut-outs, so where does the new Nike Hyperfuse fit in?
It looks more like the Zoom Skyposite and seems to lack all the unifying characteristics of the Hyper- ballers, except that it’s one hell of a futuristic design. Instead of Flywire, the side panels (and toes) are covered in what looks to be the new Torch fabric. You can count on these to be extremely lightweight and breathable, and you’ll see after the jump that it’s a design that looks cool in a variety of colourblocking schemes. via Kenlu

In Asia, Jay Chou’s name alone would be enough to sell 40000 pairs of these, much less 200. Sneakerheads in America might be able to name the Asian singer/actor’s credits, but we’re just as eagerly anticipating the upcoming release of his ‘Grand Piano’ Nike Air Max 1 for Taiwanese Tier Zero retailer PHANTACi. They follow the black and white keys motif and add a healthy dose of pink, which is PHANTACi’s signature hue. The pack will include a special box, lace locks, handmade hand link. Not included, but still available for purchase, is a mathcing Grand Piano tshirt, featuring similar graphics to the shoe box. Expected to drop this Saturday, 12/12, at both PHANTACi Taipei, and PHANTACi Taichung. For all you stateside cats, better get up on those Asia connects.
