The greatest sports rivalries can bring people together or tear them apart; i’ll tune in whenever the Yanks play the Sox or when OSU huddles up against U of M, but i’d rather jump off a cliff than wear a Phillies hat. Sport without rivalry takes away an emotional aspect that takes the game to a level beyond cheering and booing, into the realm of hatred and irrational behavior. One of these great rivalries defined an entire era of basketball; the Los Angeles Lakers vs. the Boston Celtics. Never before or after have we seen such talent consolidated into two teams facing off against each other over and over again.
New Balance has recognized this iconic head-to-head match-up and released two pairs of their classic New Balance P790CT, one in a Boston Celtics colourway and another in a Lakers colourway that we previewed days ago. It features the old-school design of the 80′s with a super-high cut, and more NBA Team colourways may be on the way. Both pairs are available at shelta.
