Nike Skateboarding This Is Qatar Video Documentary

Skateboarding was a sport once considered reserved for rebels; some might even stretch it farther and say it was for delinquents. Today, skateboarding is now a form of expression that has reached far beyond its Californian roots. Nike Skateboarding has sent its Nike SB Spain team to Qatar, the small Middle-Eastern country neighboring Saudi Arabia, to get to know the country and its growing skate scene. While both the team and skater locals say its tough to find a good spots, they manage just fine; Watch as they ride through the city streets and local monuments and you too can grow to appreciate such a scenic country.

Packer Shoes Freshness Feature

Not too many sneaker retailers can even come close to matching the kind of legacy and rich history enjoyed by Packer Shoes. Originally opened in 1907 in Yonkers, NY, the Packer Shoes name has stayed in the family for over 100 years, eventually branching out into its current location in Teaneck, New Jersey. What began as a one-stop neighborhood shoe shop over a century ago, has evolved with the growing sneaker market and now caters to the more high-end boutique aspect of the sneaker game. Owner/operator Mike Packer had the vision to change with the times, but the formula and approach of Packer Shoes has hardly budged at all.

Good product and friendly service reign supreme, but knowing how to handle the peripherals is a little more of a tricky process. Freshness recently sat down with Mike to discuss the past and current state of the sneaker business and what it takes not only to survive, but to flourish in the increasingly diluted and ultra-competitive field. Keep reading after the jump to check out some pics from around the shop, and you can get over to Freshness now for a full interview with one of the true OG’s of the sneaker retail game.

Nike Air Max 90 Obsidian White Metallic Silver

The Air Max 90 is a perfect silhouette for tons of color blocking, though we tend to allure towards certain classic colorways.  Palettes that insinuate a popular sports team are always a shoe-in for fast sales.  Though it’s hard to anticipate the success of certain teams, the being a Yankee fan transcends the stats of each season, but rather becomes a lifestyle.  Though yours truly is a Mets fan (maybe not for long, depending if they learn to pick it up or not), this is a perfect look for any of the thousand of die-hard Yank fans out there. Nike Air Classic BW Textile White Silver

Take a look at this new colourway of the Nike Air Classic BW. It’s takes on a two-face approach, as the entire front half of the shoe is completely white while the rear portion features a red bottom sole, red air unit, and silver trim on the heel. The uppermost section of lace eyelets is black, and a BW stampled shoelace dubrae makes its return to this classic runner. Can’t go wrong with mesh toes either, like the one in the recently previewed Cool Grey Nike Air Classic BW. You can grab your white-on-silver pair from Caliroots.

Michael Jordan on Jay Leno Show 10 Questions

NBC’s Late Night line-up has been under a ton of duress lately, but Jay Leno’s segment with Michael Jordan surely brought in some ratings. Jordan participated in Leno’s “10 Questions” segment, and it was interesting to find out some extra trivia about the man whose shoe was responsible for the sneaker craze. Find out the aliases Jordan uses when he checks in hotels, who he considers the worst golfer he’s ever played with, and the only autograph that he would ever ask for. Check out the video after the jump for the answers to all these burning questions and more.

Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals July 2010 Preview

When adidas works with Jeremy Scott, you can expect the most eye-catching designs that push the envelope to a considerable degree. Jeremy Scott’s projects look fit for a museum, but they are in fact meant for your feet. Check out some of these preview pics of Jeremy Scott x adidas Originals that’s in store for us in July, and be prepared to be left speechless. We’ve already seen the Jeremy Scott Wing before, but it never loses its “wow” factor. Check to the triple-tongued high-top and the adidas Metro Attitude Hi with a huge Beverly Hills license plate on the tongue. We all know tucking your jeans behind the tongue is “in”, but this is taking it to the next level. Be sure to check out the pics and chime in with your opinions; I sure have mine. via numelo.

Claw Money x Vans Pack Preview @ Bright

Claw Money is probably best known ’round these parts for her (literally) peacocked Nike Vandal High from a couple years back.  The graffiti girl turned fashion designer put her signature catty print on two new Vans that showed up yesterday at Bright in Frankfurt.  The hightop is something we’ve never seen before, but the low joints look like a chopped off version of Eric Elms’ signature collabo from oh-nine.  Stick with Sneaker News and we’ll keep you updated on these.  via HS

Nike SB P Rod 2.5 Black Black

Paul Rodriguez has his fourth Nike SB dropping this year, but don’t forget about the P-Rod 2.5 that was hinted at in the Nike SB 2010 Preview. The “halfsies” idea, taken from Jordan Brand, features the Nike SB P-Rod 2 upper with a skater-friendly vulcanized sole. Sneaker News gave you pictures of three upcoming P-Rod 2.5 colourways, and here’s a fourth one that will be available soon. The all-black colourway uses suede on the upper with a leather swoosh, which is paired with a white midsole. Definitely a more toned-down skater shoe, but the Nike SB P-Rod 2.5 will definitely perform on par with the rest of Rodriguez’ line. via maze.

New Balance P790LK White Purple Yellow

New Balance is best known not only for their line-up of casual running/walking shoes but also for their manufacturing presence in the US and across the pond in the United Kingdom. What New Balance is not readily recognized for is their basketball sneakers; you won’t see many NBA players wear them these days. If that’s the case, let’s take it back a few decades to the 80s, when the New Balance P790LK was a popular high-top basketball shoe. It returns today in a quintessential Lakers color-combo to give props to the NBA Champion Lakers. A white leather upper, perforations on the rear panel, and a sky-high tongue are other defining features. Like the adidas Phantom II NBA Collection, expect more team colourways of the New Balance P790LK soon, or buy your Lakers colourway from shelta.

Nike Zoom Kobe V Dark Knight Release Info

There are quite a number of Nike Zoom Kobe V colourways, three of which were inspired by popular film. One of the three uses a colourway adapted from the biggest big-screen hit of 2008, The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight Zoom Kobe V uses a stealth black and cold blue seen on the Batman logo from the ’08 movie, and this colourway has been highly anticipated by fans of both Kobe Bryant and the comic-book-hero flick. These are set to drop this Saturday, January 23rd at the Foot Locker House of Hoops, with an appearance by the Black Mamba himself following his game against the Knicks. Another tidbit of info; the Bruce Lee Kobe V has been pushed back to February 6th, so mark your calendars for those as well, but Sneaker News will remind you when the time comes. via FLUL.

NBA Feet: Dwyane Wade Air Jordan XII PE White Varsity Red Gold

Dwyane Wade will be a free agent at the end of this year, but for now it looks like he won’t be switching teams. He did, however, switch from Converse to Jordan Brand, and already, Wade has established himself as the most prominent member of Team Jordan in the brand’s history. He already has a championship ring on his finger from the ’06 Finals, in which his Jordan-esque 35 points-per-game led the Miami Heat to its first ever NBA title. While Wade has yet to reveal his own line of Jordan Brand shoes, he was seen wearing the recently released Air Jordan XII White/Red against the Indiana Pacers. But take a closer look and you’ll notice a hint of gold on the Jumpman logo on the tongue and again on sides of the midsole, giving them a personalized Miami Heat vibe. Check out the pics after the jump, and we’ll keep you updated whenever Wade wears some Jordan heat in the future. via Yahoo Sports.
