Nike’s new Torch material was developed to minimize use of leather and synthetics in an effort to ultimately create the utmost breathable and lightweight shoe. Nike designers took the Nike Air Classic BW and transformed it into the Nike Air Classic BW Gen II, which Sneaker News previewed months ago. You can now look at a video interview with Jesse Leyva, the Global Design Director for Nike Sportswear Footwear to get an inside look at the thought-process behind the development of Torch, which will surely be a prevalent theme in upcoming Nike Sportswear shoes like the Nike Lunarlite Rejuven8 Mid that released not too long ago.

The Golden State Warriors have one of the most recognizable throwbacks in the NBA. Their ‘The City’-emblazoned yellow jerseys from when the team played in San Francisco was one of the foundational images in the Mitchell & Ness era (consider them the Houston Astros of basketball). They brought out a new retro jersey last night against the Heat, and while they’re certainly eye-catching, it was one player’s shoes that turned the most heads.
Warriors second year guard Anthony Morrow has been seen rocking the Nike Hyperize earlier this season. On Wednesday, he utilized the red accent hits on the alternate-alternate jersey and rocked a pair of red suede Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ DMPs. An interesting look, since the jersey is nearly 30 years older than the sneakers, and both are definitely old school. via YahooSports.

The Nike Dynasty ’81 Hi debuted in 1981 and stuck its head out again last year in a number of vibrant colourways and over branding. In 2010, the Dynasty Hi returned with a small orange Nike flap replacing the ankle strap in a Team Red and Neptune Blue colourway. The high-top shoe seems to be a continuing trend that has spilled over from 2009, so you can grab yours now at 21 Mercer, the Nike Sportswear store located in the SoHo district of Manhattan.

When the image of a gigantic lizard attacking an Asian metropolis comes to mind, one would quickly think of Godzilla. There’s a new colossal reptile out on the prowl, the Black Mamba, and it appears to be an unstoppable force. Niketown in Beijing, China is paying tribute to Kobe Bryant and the Nike Zoom Kobe V with an oversized monument of the Black Mamba snake, and despite being considerably smaller than Godzilla was, the Black Mamba will certainly take the country by storm. The snake sits in the main foyer for all to admire, and you can see a display of a deconstructed Zoom Kobe V. China is already a huge supporter of the NBA and basketball as a sport, and this prodigious display is only a testament to their admiration of Kobe Bryant and the NBA’s global efforts. via nikebasketball on twitter.

The annual NBA All-Star game is a date worth making note of on your Blackberry or iPhone planners. Not just for the game or the All-Star festivities, but for the traditional All-Star inspired colourways of the Nike Air Force 1. Due out for a Feburary 1st release, just two weeks before the actual game, here’s a look at two of the upcoming four pairs; the first colourway is a patent varsity red with a metallic silver swoosh, and the second is patent white with the same metallic silver treatment on the swoosh. Both have black soles and a Texas Basketball logo on the rear heel. There are two more pairs, one in Team Royal and the other in Black, and will most likely maintain the same motif as the pictured. We’ll give you a heads up when the time comes. via ninobeatz.

The NBA All-Star Weekend is just one month away, and that means All-Star colourways of our favorite basketball kicks. Here’s a look at Eastern Conference starter shoo-in LeBron James’ Nike Air Max LeBron VII. Check out the turquoise-dyed woodgrain mudguard and the similarly colored Air Max unit and sole; remind you of the Red Carpet LeBron VII? An Eastern Conference All-Star patch is also fashioned on the insole. Check back with Sneaker News for newer pics of these All-Star LeBrons and other All-Star colourways. via kenlu.

Almost twelve years after its initial release, the Jumpman Pro Strong will be the focus of a non-signature Jordan retro, like the Air Jumpman Pro of 2009. Bearing a strong resemblance to the Air Jordan XIII, the Jumpman Pro Strong was intended to be a low-post shoe, focusing on protection and support, unlike its counterpart, the Jumpman Pro Quick, which was geared toward speed and agility. The Jumpman Pro Strong was also the signature shoe for Vin Baker, the overshadowed surprise of the ’93 NBA Draft. Vin Baker’s made attempts at comebacks, but we’ve got a feeling that Jordan Jumpman Pro Strong will see better results, with a Black/Red/White, Black/Black, and White/Red/Black colourway slated for release on top of the Vin Baker colourway. via counterkicks.

The other day, Sneaker News dropped some pictures of the upcoming Nike Zoom LeBron Soldier IV. Here’s a detailed look at two of the colourways, a Green/White LeBron SVSM-esque colourway and another in Navy/White. The LeBron Soldier IV features a King James Lion graphic on the tongue, the L23 medallion on the rear heel, a Dunkman on the rear heel, and a large in-step strap that has been a common denominator among all the LeBron Soldier releases; all the details certify these a bonafide LeBron James shoe. Take a good look at the pics; a U.S. release is most certainly coming soon. via taobao.

The mantra of the minds behind Hellz Bellz: “Confront conformity, tear down boundaries, and rewrite the rules.” There’s no doubt that Hellz Bellz label owner Lanie Alabanza followed through with her claims; just take a look at the eyebrow-raising colourways of womens Vans. Lanie gives the Vans Hadley a bad-to-the-bone motorcycle boot makeover, made complete by the deep black leather and biker-gear zippers. The Hellz Bellz proverb “A crime for all seasons” is also etched on the front section of the midsole. The Vans Sophie is a traditional saddle shoe given a hardcore gritty-luxury treatment, with the distressed gold and silver accents. As Lanie says, “kill that cutesey, helpless, damsel in distress noise”. With these two super-slick designs, we hear ya loud and clear. via Nitrolicious.
