The latest Asics Gel Lyte Speed reminds you why we have more than a couple of brands here on Sneaker News. Their new Directional Level premium drops were building some momentum, but this white-hot Lyte Speed release makes us think there really is something to this Year of the Tiger thing.
The colourway is just amazing, mixing mint green and infrared like it’s nothing thanks to a mostly black and grey upper and a speckled midsole. Since Parra is probably the closest thing that comes to mind when scoping these out for the first time, it’s only right that they popped up first at Holland’s Woei. via SF

Another day, another Nike Air Max+ Tailwind 2010. It seems like we’ve seen at least that many for the last week, but don’t sleep on these. The Air Max+ 2009 was a huge step forward with its uncaged Air cushion, but these show you how a little midsole here and there can be a good thing. This pair has a gumdrop yellow Air bubble peeking out to match the LIVESTRONG’d upper. These look like a another yellow Tailwind ’10 we saw earlier, but streetwear-friendlier thanks to healthy portions of grey and white. Run and grab a pair today from FinishLine.

We first saw these on Christmas Eve, when Sneaker News brought you the hopeful possibility of a Nike and Bearbrick collaboration. It turns out the Blue 100% and two pairs of Nike Blazer Highs are part of a triple-collab with Japan’s X-Girl (that’s right, WMNS only). Those sequened Blazer are pretty dope, but the blue Bearbrick featuring late 70s/early 80s soft-serifed printing is likely to be the big draw here. Expect them sometime next month. via HS

On Tuesday, January 25th, Lacoste hosted a little get-together at the Pierre Hotel in New York to celebrate the release of the Married to the MOB x Lacoste Hiromi ladies high-top shoe, but you better believe this wasn’t your grandma’s average tea party. In attendance was Leah McSweeney, creator of Married to the MOB, and a number of special guests and fashionistas. The special design of MOB’s features black funeral-veil lace and MOB’s rouge lips logo that give these women’s kicks a sultry dose of va-va-voom while keeping it true to McSweeney’s “Most Official B******” attitude. These will be available on February 13th, just before Valentine’s Day (last-minute gift for your gal-pal?).

Let it be known right now that the non Z-Boys who can pull off the dreads-at-50 look is shorter than this post. Luckily for Tony Alva, he fits the former, and lucky for us, we’ll soon get a chance to fit into this new pack of Vans with his name. We’re getting the Vans Mid Skool 77 in green and Era Pro in cobalt blue. Both rock beige laces and premium cushioned sockliners, and are enviro-friendly with recycled rubbers and water-based adhesives. Beautiful and ‘green’, both pairs should hit retailers next week. via ShoesMaster

We’ve already seen the Air Jordan 16.5 in a number of NBA Team Colourways, like the Hornets Air Jordan 16.5 and the Hawks Air Jordan 16.5. Here’s a look at a presumably Lakers-themed colourway of the XVI-XVII hybrid in black, varsity maize, and varsity purple. The black upper with purple lining and midsole is truly “Laker-ized” with the yellow stitching and color use on the sole. This is yet another colourway of Air Jordans for the defending champs – the first being the Air Jordan VI Lakers. A pair of nine-point-fives are available from shaolin8 on eBay.

There large number of components that make up the Nike Air Max 90 design allows you to go haywire on Nike iD, splashing safety orange or volt yellow wherever you please. Some still prefer the super-clean ready-for-summer route and go with an all-white colourway with a hint of a secondary colour. Check out the white/obsidian colourway of the Air Max 90, almost like a reverse colourway of the Obsidian Nike Air Max 90 we previewed a short while ago. It features an all-white leather upper with micro-perforated nubuck on the toe and a secondary trim owned by obsidian; it’s just a few pinstripes short of being a Home Yankees Air Max 90. These are available now at Caliroots.

Some shoeheads like to keep it simple and prefer shoes with white midsoles. Others like to go the loud route, and have an affinity for midsoles with out-of-the-box designs, like the classic speckling or the Hufquake-esque cracked concrete design. Another eye-opening idea for the normally subdued midsole is the dripped paint seen on this new Big Nike High GS in Dark Shadow/Flint Grey. Unfortunately these ARE a GS (or kids), but I have no doubt that these would catch the eye of the young’ns. These are available now at Finishline, so continue reading to get a nice coupon for this or any other Finishline purchase.

Remember the Defining Moments Package from 2006? Well, 2010 appears to be the Defining Moments Year. The Air Jordan VI Varsity Red just dropped and a few more colourways will follow. The Air Jordan XI 25th Anniversary is also set to release, and there’s word that two more Air Jordan XI’s (and possibly a third) will be available as well. The Cool Grey Air Jordan XI originally released in 2001 and is widely popular despite not even being an original colourway, and it looks like we’ll get a chance to double-dip on these because there is word of a November ’10 release. We’ll keep you updated on an exact release date and price, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for all Air Jordan Release Dates.

The Air Jordan XI is perhaps the most recognizable Air Jordan shoe in the entire Jordan Legacy. As if it needed even more reason to be recognized, in 2001, the Air Jordan XI released in low-top versions in a number of colourways – one being the popular Snakeskin Air Jordan XI Low. It featured the same leather mudguard as the AJXI but with Navy snakeskin (actually looked blue-ish green) and a Pink variety for the ladies instead of the typical patent leather. Lucky for us, the Snakeskin Lows in the Navy colourway will release again in 2010, but exact release and price info has yet to be made available. Stick with Sneaker News and we’ll give you the lowdown. via itsshoestime.

The Air Jordan III (3) is known primarily for two things; the introduction of the famous Elephant print on the toe and heel, and the fact that it was the pair Jordan wore during his last Slam Dunk Competition win. Rumors have been swirling around about a possible Air Jordan Slam Dunk Pack for 2010 which included the two pairs Jordan wore during his Slam Dunk wins, the Air Jordan II and Air Jordan III. The truth about the AJ SD Package is still up in the air, but we just reported info about an Air Jordan II (2) Sample just a few days ago, and now there is news that the Retro release of the White Cement Air Jordan III (3) has been confirmed for 2010. It’s going to be a crazy year for you Jordanheads, so stay tuned to Sneaker News for updated info. via itsshoestime.

Even before the man himself retired, there were number of young bucks given the title of “The Next Jordan”. Vince. T-Mac. Penny. Stack. Harold frickin’ Miner. The list goes on and on, and they’ve all stepped up to the plate and fallen short of the glory of Jordan. Another Jordan-comparison was made to a scrawny, arrogant, didn’t-know-his-role right outta High School rookie back in ’96…and the expectations of MJ-proportions then has become a truth in present day. We’re not here to debate who the better player was – Kobe or MJ – but Jordan Brand is definitely giving Bryant the props he deserves. When he was in endorsee-limbo a few years back, Kobe was seen on court with some SICK Air Jordan PEs. While this upcoming Air Jordan VI (6) Lakers isn’t exactly a Kobe PE, it’s clear JB is is still showing their love. Check out these new detailed images after the jump. via Kinstor.
