No more than a week ago, the thought of a Tracy McGrady PE was downright laughable. T-Mac will go down as one of the best scorers in this era, but his knees are made of glass and he’s not known to be such a great playoff performer. He made a good showing in Saturday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, dropping 26 in his MSG home debut in the adidas TS Supernatural Creator.
The Knicks blew a late lead (duh) to Kevin Durant and crew, but with McGrady’s debut markedly stronger than Antawn Jamison’s in Cleveland, and McGrady openly saying he’ll take less money next year to stay and play with a guy like LeBron and/or D-Wade, we could have a massive collection of hot PEs from every brand in New York. you can’t really say “he’s not known to be a great playoff performer,” when in fact he is behind only Michael Jordan and maybe AI and Kobe for Playoffs PPG. Statistically all his stats raise in the playoffs, and his last playoff performance he had a near triple double posting 40pts,10reb and 7 ast in a Game 6 loss to the Jazz.

Ok yeah good scoring in playoffs just like penny..

tmacs my favorite plays so thanks sneakernews for posting his stuff although (real talk) his kix have never really been hot. but tmac is gunna make a comeback all he gotta do is stay healthy! Tmac will win a ring in the next 2-3 years depending where he goes next year or who comes to the knicks (if they resign) him. He’ll be a great 6th man for any team.

@2
How many times has he been past the first round of the playoffs? At last check, as many as your comments in this post, which is to say dude can’t get it done in crunch time.
@4
Put T-Mac as the 6th man, Ginobili-style and you might be able to get something out of him. Only problem is, he can’t dominate the 4th quarters of playoff games like Manu used to (or Ben Gordon, for that matter).
@3
Right on.

Scorsese is coming out with a movie about AI’s & Tmac’s playoff runs in the next 5 years…it’s called The Forgotten

T-mac was one of my favorite players in his prime. He had some nice dunks and a killer jumper, but lost a lot of time due to nagging injuries. I hope he bounces back tho. To bad he is on a losing team. Maybe they will pick up a BIG name next yr and be able to turn that team around. I still doubt they will get Lebron. I see them picking up BOSH if Miami does not getem.

He must have known he was going to the knicks because how did he get the team color.

@ Aaron- A lot of players have yet to even play in a playoff game but you cant make the argument that they aren’t good players. Grant Hill didn’t. Kevin Garnett didn’t until he was surrounded by a true cast of players that included 2 all stars. Hell Kobe Bryant wasn’t able to get out of the first round until the acqusition of Pau Gasol. You can’t say he cant get it done in crunch time when all evidence says he tries. In orlando he had Darrell Armstrong at the 1, Pat Garrity at the 4, Monty Wms at the 3 and a washed up Pat Ewing. Or Drew gooden, or gordon giricek, shawn kemp…those teams werent supposed to win. he has only been one one playoff team that was actually favored to win, and yao ming was on the court but wasnt there and was outmuscled by boozer and the rest of the jazz frontcourt. And you are correct that without a chip you fail, but that applies to all but one team every year so thats a no brainer and is pretty redundant. you say he cant dominate 4th qtrs of playoff games, but all his stats prove otherwise. look them up he was the playoff leader with 4th qtr pts

not too mention that he does in fact have a few playoff game winning scores on his resume. dude is a pure scorer not too mention he rivals the ball handling skills of the starting pg on all his teams. 13 seconds “crunch time” enough for you?

@10-1
Let me state that some of my best ball in college was played in the red T-Mac 3s, and I’ve always been a Grant Hill fan.
But I can’t name a single player I think of as ‘good’ with at least 5 years of experience who hasn’t made it to the playoffs. But I digress . . .
T-Mac is the playoff scoring leader for both Orlando and Houston franchise histories. The guy would eat me alive, even though I’m pretty sure I can bench press a whole lot more than he can lol. So I’m not saying that he’s not a great player.
He’s one of the best guys who’s never made it that far, so comparing him to other guys like that (Ewing) just proves my case. Tell me who Tracy McGrady has EVER locked down on defense. Tell me that he’s willed his team to victory to close out a series.
T-Mac, with all the injuries and playoff woes, won’t make the hall of fame, unless he finds himself playing with two superstars, so I guess you’re right
