Every successful signature line of basketball kicks seems to be accompanied by matching apparel. Do the kicks and the apparel go hand-in-hand, or is the success mutually exclusive? In regards to Li-Ning, that remains to be seen, but take a look at Li-Ning’s line-up of apparel and you might guess that Li-Ning is here to stay.
If you saw our Li-Ning Launch Event Recap last week, you might’ve seen Baron Davis aka Beardman wear a pretty dope varsity jacket with his BD and Beardman logos adorning the front chest. Some cool t-shirts, one with Davis posterizing, or “bearding” what looks to be a helpless, clean-shaven Andrei Kirilenko were also displayed. All the aforementioned gear – two colors of the jacket and six different tees – are no available for purchase. With kicks and matching gear as part of his arsenal, Beardman and his future as an endorsee looks pretty bright (just don’t expect a call from Gilette). Read on to check out the Li-Ning Baron Davis apparel collection, and if you see what you like, visit Li-Ning.

Ken Block is a name famous to most rally racing fans, but around these parts, he’d be better known as co-founder of DC Shoes. Here’s a new pack that popped up at the Las Vegas Project show. Inspired by Ken’s rally career and designed by artist Huck Gee, this pack of DCs contains four ’43′-adorned sneakers. Expect the black ‘murdered-out’ edition pictured above along with a ‘drippy’ version that adds neon hits and takes its design cues from a recent Ken Block x Ford Fiesta. via HS

Flywire was introduced to the world on Kobe Bryant’s feet in an unforgettable commercial where he jumped over a speeding Aston Martin. The Nike Hyperdunk has given way to its offspring the Hyperize, but this new colourway is easily one of the hottest basketball shoes in recent memory, period. The Nike Hyperdunk Aston Martin edition is chromed out with a red leather lining and the AM wings crest on the hood tongue tag. They’re set for a limited release this spring, but you know just by looking at these things they’re going to fly off shelves. Luckily, a few pairs are already available from the good folks at Osneaker.

Skate sneakers are a lot different than they were say, 15, 20 years ago. It used to be that you’d have some country boy at school asking about your ‘Nike Airwalks’ and you’d roll your eyes like, “Dude, Nike doesn’t even make skateboarding shoes!” Back then, it was all about your Airwalks, Etnies, DCs or, of course, Vans.
Those brands had a free-for-all to see who could make it to the top, but it was clearly Vans’ Warped Tour that helped to keep it in the public eye, and the other companies simply couldn’t keep up. So Off The Wall owes a good deal of their success to bands like Chicago-based hardcore act Rise Against and vice-versa. The truest form of collaboration, here’s more from that symbiotic partnership: a fresh pair of Vans Slip-Ons for SS ’10. Take a look after the jump to choose if you want to go all hardcore and check your local Vans retailers starting next month. via FNG

Last Monday, Li-Ning officially launched its line of basketball kicks and apparel with Baron Davis, the company’s premier endorsee, all smiles at the inaugural event. We saw previews of the Li-Ning BD Doom during the Li-Ning Launch Event and during our in-depth NBA Feet: Under The Radar Edition coverage, and now we are excited to report that the Li-Ning Baron Davis line is now available for purchase.
The Li-Ning Doom arrives in five great colourways – a Home and Away, two Snakeskin versions, and one paying homage to his alma mater of UCLA. Each Doom features a combination of leather and 3M on the upper and Li-Ning Bounce technology for comfort. Also available for purchase is the Li-Ning Baron Davis 001, a casual lifestyle hi-top with a clear sole that acts as window to a neat art graphic on the bottom of the shoe. Figurine collectors can also purchase the Li-Ning Baron Davis Toy as well. If you’re the adventurous type who enjoys exploring the land of other brands, the entire Li-Ning Baron Davis line is now available for purchase at Li-Ning.

The Nike Mad Jibe Mid is a boat-shoe hybrid that might not float for everyone. Needless to say it combines two elements of footwear that might not have much to do with each other. But then again, that is what Nike is all about; producing the unexpected and making it work. The Nike Mad Jibe is without question an interesting addition to a high-top arsenal; it combines a boat shoe upper with a high-top ankle a tad similar to that of the Nike Air Yeezy. The maroon colourway of the Nike Mad Jibe Mid released not too long ago, so you can grab yours from shaolin8 on eBay.

The Air Jordan XVII is best known as Michael Jordan’s second comeback shoe and for its metallic briefcase shoebox. MJ’s a little too old to attempt a third bounceback, so leave it to his sons to rock the Jordan Brand heat. Here’s an AJXVII PE for Mike’s older son Jeff(rey) Jordan, back during his high school playing days. They rock a super clean white and forest green palette with chrome trim. It’s obvious in looking at these why Ray Allen’s AJ16.5 PEs always look so fresh; stick with Sneaker News and we’ll let you in on tons of Air Jordan Player Exclusives and samples. via Carter1203 on Kenlu

One of the biggest and most colourful collaborations in recent memory, the RANSOM by adidas Originals collection continues to grow. Here are the new adidas Originals Valley Highs, a higher cut version of the kicks we most recently saw in previews. The six pairs you’ll see after the jump are decidedly more conservative than their ripstop nylon cousins, and these use premium glossy leather to full effect. You’ll have people saying, “Those are adidas?!” with a pair of these, so check your local adidas Orignals retailer soon. via Glltn

Before you say that these already dropped, here are two things to consider: 1) these are different than the 20th Anniversary Legacy Pack joints that just released and 2) you probably couldn’t find that two-pack. In any case, there’s a new Nike Trainer SC 2010 based on the original Auburn Tigers colourway made famous by Bo Jackson about two decades prior. You can see they’re different, most obviously with the purple ‘NIKE’ on this pair’s patent leather tongue (other joints are orange/orange). Whether you need to get these to complete your colleciton or just get a taste of an iconic Nike colourway, they’re available from FinishLine.

It’s impossible not to notice how sneakers and streetwear are becoming more sophisticated and in line with high fashion. Nike leads the pack with new innovative ideas, but here are two reliable stanbys combined with some new refined touches. The Nike Dunk Low Premium has popped up on NIKEiD before, but these new materials and colours are quite nice. With the new Formal Pack, you can choose from stuff like polished dress leather, waxed twill and luxe suede in a variety of shades a bit subtler than what’s typically ID-able. Check out our designs after the jump and make your own at the NIKEiD website.
