Evisu x Common Projects Fall / Winter 2010 Capsule Sneaker Collection

No matter how old I get, i’ll always love the black/red/white combination of an Air Jordan shoe or the vibrant neon green on a pair of clean 95s. But there are those circumstances where a pair of Jays or Air Maxes might not fit the occasion, and designers worldwide have embraced the dress-sneaker as the new black of footwear. Check out this collaboration between denim maestro Evisu and dress-sneaker purveyor Common Projects; this collection of capsules features an array of low-profile sneakers and savvy hi-tops in neutral, business-like colors such as white, dark navy, and black. These shoes don’t go without some flavor, as a series of numbers and Japanese characters are branded on the heel. If you’re into the “grown up” sneakerhead look, stay tuned to Sneaker News and we’ll provide the info as always. via FRESHNESS.

Nike SB Dont Fear The Sweeper Video Part 3

The last two videos featuring the Don’t Fear The Sweeper Tour was a 50/50 mixture of skating and laughs. The third installment of the Sweeper Video Tour spans New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas and is strictly skateboarding, as the four-minute long video shows Team Nike do nothing but shred skate parks, bowls, verts, and back alleys while favoring certain Nike SB models (the Nike SB Janoski, for one). The members of Team Nike SB put all they’ve got into their craft, and while everything looks to come easy to them, their sweat-drenched shirts prove that their perfection is a result of determination and practice, two aspects of sport Nike values very much. via NikeSB.

McLovin Goes to All Star Weekend

It could be that his Superbad money is wearing a bit thin, but McLovin’ is hitching a ride to Dallas for 2010 NBA All-Star Game. Upon his arrival, Fogell attempts to infiltrate the inner NBA circle to meet LeBron James, but runs into some bumps on the way. No, he doesn’t get cracked in the face by a would-be robber, but he does his best to elude the security guards with the super-light Nike Zoom Kobe V. Watch as he speed-greets Reggie Miller, steals the ball from Daniel “Boobie” Gibson, and stumbles at feet of Pau Gasol before finally reaching LeBron’s locker. Will McLovin reach his target on time? Check out the video after the jump to find out!

NBA Feet: 2010 NBA All Star Rookie Challenge

The 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend has officially kicked off. The Celebrity All-Star Game and Rookie Challenge were played on Friday night at NBA Jam Session and American Airlines Center respectively. Besides all of the different shoes that the Rookies and Sophomores wore, the teams also went back to wearing their respective team’s NBA jersey’s unlike last year’s horrid excuse for a jersey. For the first time in eight years the Rookies came out on top and were led by Sacramento Kings’ Guard, Tyreke Evans, who like most of the other Nike sponsored players wore the new Nike Air Max Rise in their teams colors. Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks had a respectable 22 points and 8 assists in his Under Armour Protege’s; he also might’ve taken some notes from Lebron James by wearing a different colored shoe on each foot. Toronto Raptors’ Rookie, Demar Derozan, won himself a trip to the 2010 NBA Slam Dunk Contest by beating Los Angeles Clippers’ Sophomore, Eric Gordon, in the first ever Slam Dunk-In, the two players wore the Nike Zoom Kobe V and adidas Supernatural Creator respectively. Check out what the rest of the Rookies and Sophomores wore after the jump and let us know who you think had the best kicks.

Celebrity Feet: T.O., Common, Terrence J & More NBA All Star Celebrity Game

The 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas, TX kicked off with the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game featuring Common, Terrell Owens, Mavs owner Mark Cuban, Terrence J of 106 & Park,  pro-golfer Anthony Kim, and other notable figures in television and pro-sports. The Nike Zoom Kobe seemed to be a popular choice, as both Common and Terrell Owens rocked the Nike Zoom Kobe V Chaos (how fitting for T.O. to wear the Chaos) while Anthony Kim hit a hole-in-one with the White/Red/Black Kobe V that matched the Celebrity All-Star jerseys to a tee. Michael Rapaport, another semi-obscure character actor of TV and film, wore the Dark Knight Kobe V, while former pro and Kobe teammate Rick Fox hit the rewind button with a pair of Zoom Kobe IV. ‘Twas a night for the stars, but the real All-Stars will shine Sunday night, so stay tuned for our NBA Feet 2010 All-Star Edition.

With the comeback of the Foam species, as well as the 1/2 Cent’s creation, we reflect on an underrated NBA superstar from the diminishing years of b-ball’s golden era. When you guys first came across the Foams, did you expect it to blow up to where it is now? Let’s be real, I’m sure a bunch of you gawked in utter doubt. It’s success wasn’t because the masses randomly appreciated it’s progressive look, but rather based immensely on Anfernee Hardaway’s growing popularity. My man Penny held it down for Orlando, especially when Shaq suffered injuries in around ’95. The big man’s move to LA only forced Penny to step his game up even more. Some may be too young to recall this, only recollecting his career with the Suns. Or maybe even later with NY and Miami, as his stats plummeted. But let’s look at the 96′ Olympics. Hardaway’s consistent playing, clutch plays in the quarters against Brazil, and then his 17-point game in the finals against Yugoslavia, undoubtedly contributed to US Gold.
Of course, it really can’t be argued that some amount of his success, as well as his signature kicks, was due to the aid of humourous Nike campaigns. Lil Penny was a huge hit with basketball fans, even transcending into other aspects of pop culture (No diggety, no doubt). Whatever his mark on individuals be, the Nike Air Foamposite One is one of the brand’s biggest hits. This Dirty Copper Foam is a clever testament to the greatness of the brand’s creativity, the shoe itself, and Penny’s legacy to the game. Enjoy the shots and make sure to download the wallpaper from our new Sneaker Wallpaper page.

Nike Air Foamposite One Copper Release Reminder

When word of the Nike Air Foamposite One Copper was released last year, reviews were mixed. “These look disgusting”, some said. But every time Sneaker News dropped new details and images, those frowns quickly turned upside down, and soon the Copper Foams became the “IT” shoe for the first quarter of 2010. Recently, some unfortunate news about a possible release delay of the Copper Foams was disseminated, reported even by nationwide retailers. Those new developments threw off plans of dedicated sneakerheads, as some were saving up for quite some time to finally get a pair of the penny-colored Pennys.

Well, the delay in the release was just a false alarm; the Nike Air Foamposite One Copper is set to drop tomorrow, February 13th, which was the original set release. Getting a pair won’t be easy and penny-pinching won’t do you any good as these will probably hit the $300 mark on re-sale. Sneaker News bids you good luck, because the Copper Foam One isn’t the only heat dropping tomorrow. Additional images via Pristine K on eBay
