While Valentine’s Day might be more widely recognized in America, the Chinese New Year is one that holds cultural significance to Chinese populations worldwide. Nike has a long-time tradition of commemorating the annual holiday by release a number of special colourways of classic Nike kicks, like the Year of the Tiger Nike Cortez that we previewed many times before (and the neat-o Year of the Tiger box it’s contained in). This Saturday, on the eve of Chinese New Year, this limited pair inspired will release at Invincible West at 2PM and should follow at select Nike retailers. Saturday is a huge day for sneaker releases, and there’s no reason why the Year of the Tiger Nike Cortez shouldn’t be near the top of your list. Via i-kix on eBay

Jordan Brand along with Team Jordan athletes, San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver and Dallas-native Michael Crabtree and Gold Medal Paralympian April Holmes, hosted a pep rally in Dallas, Texas one day before the 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend kicks off. The pep rally was held to boost spirits and raise funds as a part of the ongoing Jordan Fundamentals Grant Program which looks to support teachers who motivate and inspire the youth of tomorrow. Also in attendance were Jordan Brand Vice President, Howard White, as well as rapper, Bun B. While the event had a great turnout and positive impact on the thousands of students in attendance, most of us at Sneaker News were more concerned with what some of the celebrities were wearing. Michael Crabtree showed up wearing a pair of the new Black “Fresh Since ’85″ Spiz’ikes while Bun B decided to break out a pair of the new Air Jordan 2010′s. Take a look at some more pictures of the event after the jump…

Come mid-February, Kobe Bryant will have entered his twelfth NBA All-Star Game: considering Kobe’s health, training regiment, and innate ability to dominate a game, Kobe appears to have at least another five years of All-Star basketball left in him. He’s quite the anomaly; Kobe is arguably the best player in the game, and has been for a number of years, yet outside of Los Angeles, he hasn’t experienced a wide embrace. For whatever reason that may be (his supposed arrogance as a rookie, the scandal in Denver, the feud with Shaq), to some, it wasn’t very easy to necessarily like the dude.
It was only recently that Kobe started to appeal to the “haters”; he’s been slowly but surely regaining his role as an icon outside of the game of basketball. Regardless of the public’s opinion or whatever else people may perceive about him, Kobe has been hands-down the best shooting-guard in the league since MJ’s retirement in ’98. Let’s take a look at what he wore during his last eleven All-Star Game appearances, and you’ll see his recent Nike Kobe line, adidas Signatures, and a sneaker-head favorite (Hint: it’s a Jordan!).
If you happened to miss it, check out our LeBron James All-Star Sneaker Retrospective and tell us which player had the better kicks!

The Air Jordan XI 25th Anniversary Edition seems to be a call to action for frauds. Whether it’s fake sneakers or a guy making more millions-per-year than points-per-game, it’s clear that everybody wants in on white-on-white. Well the pair of Elevens pictured above is as real as it gets, and on time as well. The Jordan Brand 23/25 Experience will roll into Dallas at this weekend’s 2010 NBA All Star, the only way Jared Jeffries could get an invite. All kidding aside, this is a hot shoe, and the only way you can get in on the action now is with a pre-order from RMK.

Anytime we get a chance to pick the brains of iconoclasts and visionaries, we should pay close attention. Tinker Hatfield and Mark Smith, the two men at the helm of the Jordan Brand crusade, are in large part responsible for the absurd stacks of shoeboxes sitting in our closets. During the upcoming 2010 NBA All-Star game in Dallas, Jordan Brand will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Air Jordan Legacy with a commemorative exhibit, but you can get a sneak peak of the event today.
Take a look at the entire Air Jordan 25th Anniversary White Collection lined up neatly against the wall, along with a number of exhibits set up like a museum showcase of ancient artifacts and relics like old sketches, notes, and materials. In addition to the great eye candy is an in-depth interview with Hatfield and Smith, in which you’ll find out what Tinker Hatfield designs other than sneakers and what his opinion is on the direction of Jordan Brand, and Mark Smith’s explanation of the new Air Jordan 23/25 logo. Check the images after the jump and read the entire interview over at SoleCollector.

Combine the classic design of the Nike Dunk High with the unrivaled comfort of Zoom cushioning technology and the result is a perfectly constructed shoe. It’s not the first time Zoom was used in a Dunk – all Nike Dunk SBs have Zoom, and the Dunkesto utilized it as well, but we haven’t really seen ZOOM printed on the tongue label. Fresh idea or not, Zoom and Dunk go together like peas and carrots. Check out this new colourway ot the Nike WMNS Dunk High Zoom, using a purple/hot pink gradient on the upper with a pitch-black backdrop. We’ll let you know when these Dunks drop in the states. via Dunkbar.

The 2010 NBA All-Star Weekend is set to take place this upcoming weekend in Dallas, Texas where the League’s biggest and brightest stars will come out to play and put on a show for the fans. Historically, various sneaker brands have taken this opportunity to showcase some of their newest innovations or colorways of signature shoes on the court when the superstars take the court on Sunday night, however this year Nike has made sure that the fans have something to wear when cheering for their favorite players. This year Nike has released six different All-Star 2010 Air Force 1′s including 4 Air Force 1 Low Quickstrike shoes, an Air Force 1 High Premium Quickstrike, and now this Air Force 1 High Supreme Tier Zero makeup. This Tier Zero pair comes in an all over White perforated leather upper, White midsole, and Ice White outsole. On the tongue of each foot is a stitched star and on the back of the shoe is a 2010 All-Star logo that Nike has used on all of the other 2010 All-Star Air Force 1′s. This pair is only available at select Nike Tier Zero retailers worldwide, including sneakersnstuff.

We poked fun at all the Artillery(s) in Texas for the NBA All Star 2010 and here’s even more. Interestingly enough, it’s not adidas this time, but Greedy Genius unveiling their new Ocean Runner Artillery Pack for people who live in boat houses. Instead of the obvious moc- with other Docksider-like lifestyle kicks, these have a heavy piping. Looks pretty good, especially paired with a tonal upper. Lots of colours and material to choose from (the grey ballistic nylon joints are fire), so check more pics after the jump and head to your local GNS retailer to cop.

His Daring Red 2010 All Star Game joints are blazing like a wood-burning stove, and Kevin Durant’s Nike KDII Creamsicles are one of the most talked about shoes this year. What happens when Durant wants to tone things down a bit for games at Oklahoma City’s Ford Center? Why, this pair of KD IIs, of course. Shades of innumerable ’00s Eastern Conference PEs, this pair of the Durantula’s second sig adds navy with lighter blue trim to a white patent leather upper. Very clean stuff here: the latest Nike KD II is available from ID4shoes on eBay.

So far this year we’ve seen a ton of dope Air Jordan Retros, lots of NBA All Star 2010 PEs, plenty Year of the Tiger colourups, and a slew of Valentine’s Day kicks. With all that, plus the weather back east, here’s something to firmly remind you that spring really is right around the corner. This new Nike WMNS Air Max 1 is another look you’ll probably see male AM1 devotees proudly rocking. The mix of (mint) julep and matte silver plus white is off the chain and massively versatile, and it even pulls off the yellow and orange hits without feeling like they clamour for your attention. Great stuff for girls (guys too), these just arrived at Purchaze.
