There seems to be a lot of Artillery in effect this weekend in Dallas.  It is Texas after all, so adidas is rolling out a bunch of Artillery Mid retro basketball shoes to celebrate the humongous extravaganza that is to be 2010 NBA All Star Weekend.  Here’s a look at a conference-neutral ASG look that we received photos for a while back.  In the meantime, Three Stripes scrapped this design and went with the luxurious Consortium Artillery Mids, along with the Originals Artillery that comes with a Superstar ’80s in the same theme.  Keep an eye on the bay for these and stick with Sneaker News for adidas Basketball updates.

Atlanta Hawks point guard Mike Bibby has been decked out in Air Jordan PEs since he succeeded White Chocolate as Sactown’s 1.  He and JB (and Hawks, of course) teammate Joe Johnson have helped to resurrect this formerly woebegotten franchise, and you gotta wonder if the Jays have something to do with it.  A-Town hadn’t made the playoffs since the lockout-shortened year after MJ retired, and not again until they pushed the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics to 7 in the opening round.

Is it the shoes?  Just ask Dwyane Wade, who you’ll see rocking an Air Jordan 16.5 after the jump as Bibby sails in for a layup in the True Red Air Jordan XIII Lows from back in 2005.  Interestingly enough, Johnson is in the background of the same image wearing a white/navy AJXII with red ‘JUMPMAN’ insets, so be sure to peep more after the jump.

Each year, NBA fans have the opportunity to vote in their favorite starting five for each conference, and most of the time, the fans get it right. The year 2010 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Nike Air Max 90. While that figure isn’t as notable a landmark as a 25th or 50th Anniversary,  twenty years of relevance is not to be overlooked. Nike seems to agree, as we’ve already seen some great, simple colourways drop thus far, like the Obsidian Air Max 90 (aka the Yankees Home and Away) and the Celtics-inspired colourway. Check out these newly dropped JD Exclusives, taking on a “reverse” role of sorts; the midsole and mesh area are black, while the mudguard and toe leather are white. We should anticipate a number of great colourways for 2010 (like the return of the popular Nike Air Max 90 Infrared), but if it’s these JD Exclusives that catch your eye, grab your pair over at JDSports.

2009 saw the welcome return of a bunch of beloved Anfernee ‘Penny’ Hardaway Nike Retros, plus the possible king-of-the-hybrids, the new Nike Air Half Cent.  The 1/2 Cent gave us a look at what Penny’s Spurs PEs would have looked like, but here’s a shoe that represents some real playing time.  Emphasis on the ‘some’, since Penny never controlled the rock in Phoenix like he did in O-Town, but these Eggplant and white Air Penny IIIs are some of the best Suns-compatible kicks we’ve seen.  The red/white pair of identical colourblocking is set for an April release, with this Eggplant Air Penny III dropping at Nike Sportswear retailers like Foot Locker on Friday, June 18th.

Surprises are always nice, even when it’s just a new colourway.  We knew that James Bond’s collab with David Beckham on the adidas Originals ObyO campaign was growing by two styles, but here are a few things you might not have expected.  First, the name of this shoe is the adidas Originals DB Gazelle Vintage Mid.  Becks does have other-worldly ball control, so perhaps he grew up on an alternate earth where the Gazelle looks like a midtop deck shoe.  As we remember it, the Gazelle is the indoor soccer shoe, probably ever.  Naming aside, we’re also glad to learn of the cobalt blue joints pictured above.  That means with the whites on display, a red pair should be releasing shortly.  But let’s stick to what’s timely: Caliroots has the blue and white DB Gazelle Vintage Mids in stock today.

You could probably push the debate either way “Which is closer…Shanghai to Hong Kong, or New Balance to Nike.”  The cities are 500 miles apart and those two brands are polar opposites in terms of their marketing, but the answer is actually “They’re the same.”  At least in a manner of speaking, now that the new NIKEiD studio is open at Nike Hong Kong and so is the expansive New Balance Experience store in Shanghai.  Covering more than 200 square meters, this massive store matches old world workmanlike decor with the hottest from the brand-without-endorsees.  The setup makes total sense when you consider that NB is headquartered in Boston, so be sure to check out their new Shanghai setup.

Seven LeBron Signature Shoes, seven All-Star colourways. The Nike Air Max LeBron All-Star 2010 Colourway has been a hot topic lately, so Sneaker News took a moment to reflect on the past colourways King James wore during each All-Star weekend since 2004. It seems like it was just yesterday the naysayers were predicting a bust, but their clairvoyance was obviously very cloudy – one NBA MVP, two All-Star MVPs, and the list goes on. Troy Polamalu is best known for his trademark curly hair, but he’s also recognized as one of the best defensive players in the game. Not only to opposing teams know that, so do the Steelers; when Troy went out with an injury early in the foregone 2009 season, Pittsburgh allowed over 23 points a game in Troy’s absence. DJ Khaled was joined by Rick Ross, Ludacris, T-Pain, Snoop Dogg, and a number of other friends while on the set for Khaled’s new music video, “All I Do Is Win”, the next single off of DJ Khaled’s newest album, Victory. Khaled recruited Rick Ross, Ludacris, T-Pain, and Snoop Dogg for the record and all of them were able to find time in their schedules to shoot the video for the song. All of the artists in the video were seen rocking heat starting with DJ Khaled who broke out a pair of the soon to be released “Oreo” Air Jordan VI’s in White and Black and Cement Spiz’ikes respectively. Rick Ross and Ludacris also broke out their newest Air Jordan’s by wearing the Air Jordan VI Motorsports Edition and Air Jordan Spiz’ike in Black.
