NBDL Bans All Non adidas Branding

adidas is clearly serious about becoming the world’s #1 baskteball brand.  With this latest news, however, you might wonder if being too serious makes Adi a dull boy.  The NBA’s minor league, NBDL aka D-League has ordered that any logos aside from Three Stripes be covered.  adidas is offering to pay for the players’ kicks, but given that their Stripes allow for heavier branding than any other major sports label, particularly on the uniforms (just think back to Wimbledon a couple years ago), we can’t help but wonder if this is overkill.  May the best shoe win, but we as sneakerheads especially, we want to look at a variety of shoes!  via SoleCollector

  1. Mic Noize Says:

They are trying to monopolize the market with mediocre kicks…

  2. bigpmpn57 Says:

Thats bullshit, the players should go on strike!!!!

  3. John K. Says:

Yeah, adidas! Way to stick it to Nike! You keep that NBDL. Do work, son!

  4. Nick Says:

Honestly I think it’s just gonna give Nike more publicity and it’s gonna make Adidas look shitty on their part when half the players on each team have Nikes on but it’s supposed to be dominated by themselves.
It’s just gonna show how much superior Nikes are.

  5. roadkillkitty Says:

I’m hating adidas even more!!!! Who likes to wear their crappy kicks anyway! Just stay with the stupid soccer shoes! Basketball is nikes domain! Nike is untouchable!!!

  6. joey Says:

sure addidas can have the nbdl i dont see why they want it because nike has the nba although addidas is never going to beat nike sorry

  7. turtles Says:

@mic noize last time i checked nike’s the one with mediocre quality on their shoes.

  8. bigpmpn57 Says:

I think that it is unfair to the players. A player of that caliber should be able to wear whatever they find most comfortable. I think that Adidas run narrow and are not true to size. Adidas doesn’t have anywear near the cushioning technology that Nike does! Again it should be whatever is most comfortable for the players. It doesn’t matter what f*cking logo is on their shoes!!!

  9. Swoosh Says:

Adidas is pretty Gay for even doing that, Straight Bitch Assness, Smh.

  10. Cool_Kid_305 Says:

Damn I’m I the only that notice the pic with that big ass basketball in it?! Adidas Is trippin they basketball shies are ugly ain’t nobody want to wear them ugly looking shoes.

  11. Nick Says:

Adidas are pure crap wouldn’t ever in my life sport a pair!

  12. YAH Says:

Nike have better shoes anyway. looks, technology, performance, everything. adidas will never be number 1, why? nike owns couple of the major shoe brands in the world. jordan shoes itself can beat adidas.

  13. mastershake Says:

    @turtle

u must b buyin fake nikes from chinatown cause nike is definately more legit than adidas in evry sport

  14. R E E Says:

lol. wth is up with that big ass photoshopped basketball??

  15. simon Says:

    @mic,

all the money you spent on Nike shoes are made in China.

    …lol

    @R E E,

he lost the ball and it is bouncing toward the camera~

  16. Uncle Diggaty Says:

Thats not a photoshopped ball maaaaan! If you look at the whole photo, you can clearly see that the camera man is focused on the subject of the posting… the brand masking of shoes other than adidas… the ball is appears to be big because its coming from the same general direction the photographer is standing… Notice the hand in the upper left corner. That guy is throwing a pass to the player in focus… and probably caused a turnover! LOL! Love Top Tens btw… The D-League branded socks are killin me…

  17. MelloYelloMD Says:

^ Pretty sure they are focused on dude going for a loose ball, it only looks like the ball is in his hand. The ball is in the foreground.

  18. Robbie Says:

Nike is so much better than adidas, this is dumb

  19. hell yea Says:

maybe if adidas made kicks worth wearing players would where em….

  20. tray Says:

i hate adidas even more and who wants to ball in some hard ass shoes

  21. charles shakleford 17 Says:

yeah for real what’s up with that basketball?

  22. j Says:

Oh and what about the fans court side? Will they try and make them cover the swoosh up too? Sounds to me like adidas is the kid on the play ground that brought his ball but says that nobody can use it after he gets beat. grow up

  23. Dave Says:

adidas have just made themselves look dumb, and look sneakerheads are still up with nike, and heading towards nike retailers right now!

  24. Dave Says:

maybe adidas should try shut down sneakernews.com for supporting nike and jordan brand so much :D

  25. RT5 Says:

    Who cares!!!
This is the nbdl. No one watches anyway. No one cares what they wear. lol

  26. khafre Says:

i lost mad respect 4 adidas man, sum of they ball shoes is great nd nike is fly 2, but by tryin 2 dominate the d-league like tht, they just made themselves the jealous older brother nd givin nike mo props cuz now every1 def. knows who runs da basketball in total smh

  27. John K. Says:

Peep the people in the seats. Pathetic that more people come out to watch the NBDL than a pro team in the Nets.

  28. web Says:

Adidas, think about these photos some. You missed two things:

    1. The tape could have three stripes on it.
    2. Orange tape. Pretty sure the Spalding name on he basketball doubles as their logo.

If you’re gonna do something (stupid), go all the way and don’t half-ass it.
