There are plenty of kicks on deck for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but what about shoes *from* the second largest continent? Enter SAWA Sneakers, the first sneakers 100% made in Africa. Typically, you’d see African materials shipped elsewhere to make the kicks, but these joints are made in Africa, with native resources. Expect them to release at some of the globe’s most exclusive retailers, like Wood Wood and Comme des Garcons.

Hello Typecastaaron3, the shoes are made in Cameroon in Western Africa. This said, project is not about one individual country but about the African continent (for instance some elements of the shoes are coming from other African countries).

Im Nigerian and no matter where these come from in Africa, they have my full support. Unless this funds or supports slave like labor similar to the conditions of diamond mining. Then we’ll have a problem. But as for now, I’m on a mission…GET THESE TO THE PEOPLE!!!!!

Jus checked out Oliberte. They’re stuff is also good; more of a selesction and they’re based in Canada [according to the site]. Still an African product because its manufactured there and they say they do it for the people. But I think I’ll be purchasing SAWA first…I like their look; simple, an easy classic
