ive never seen that happen to any of my shoes and i have a pair of og 5, 6, 8 and 9 that got plenty of wear in their times. could the plastic have caused this?

IVE EVEN SEEN PPL PUT BABY OIL ON THEIR SHOES BUT IVE NEVER TRIED IT THO
That’s why you need to wear your kicks! Don’t let them rot in some plastic with some stupid silica gel crap or air ventilate them or shit. Just wear’em and they will last longer.(just don’t use them too much)Let them Breath!
I agree, the plastic is what killed this shoe. The shoe needs oxygen and moisture, if you keep anything from oxygen or air and stuff, than once it hits the air its just going to deteriorate. RIP playoff 8′s but this could’ve been prevented. Just wear your kicks man and just be careful.

You guys are all NEWB COLLECTORS! Go research on how to store things like that…. Its not easy…. There is a scientific way to preserve those shit…. Theres a lot of steps…. Its like taking care of a pet that you need to do things in a bi-weekly or monthly basis…. Imagine doing the steps one by one if you have hundreds or thousands of Sneaks…. You go GAGA!

That was dumb as hell. Anybody knows that anything needs to breath. I put my joints in bags but I use a hole puncher to put holes in it first. They get air but they don’t get way too much of it. I also wear my shoes and clean them after every wear. I have never had a shoe crack or crumble.

it's not the air bubbles…it's the midsole. If you have a polyurethane midsole like these jordans, then they will crack, especially if you have any moisture on them. When you shrink wrap a shoe, then the water vapors from the air will condense inside that plastic. When those tiny drops of water have nowhere to go, then it will soak into that midsole, and when that water finally dries out, then that midsole will start to dryrot from the inside out and crumble like a cookie.
That's what happens when you have a shoe with a polyurethane midsole….they'll just crack anyway even if they're not shrink-wrapped. if you want to wear an old shoe, get one that has a Phylon midsole. it will crease, but at least you wont totally have the disaster like polyurethane.
