sak x Converse First String Chuck Taylor All Star

The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star is about as old school as it gets, with this pair akin to a pterodactyl kindergarten.  The Converse x sak collection goes to show that yesterday’s standards become today’s premiums, as Ryusaku Hiruma turns his handcrafted Italian shoemaking magic to the longest enduring icon of athletic shoes.  You can expect Jack Purcells, One Star 1974s and Star Techs on the way, all of which were built by hand.  There are a mere 64 pairs of each color available worldwide, so the $600-$700 price range for this line doesn’t mean they won’t sell out immediately.  For stateside sneakerheads, you can get them in the US exclusively at Opening Ceremony and Concepts.  Check out a bunch more photos and video of Hiruma at work, all after the jump.  via MT

Air Jordan VI (6) Detroit Pistons | Available on eBay

Not in a decade has Deeetroit Basketball been so downtrodden.  Coming to the end of a season where they paid $90 million for two free agents who helped them get really close to the bottom of the East, this shoe might be the only consolation.  The Detroit Pistons Air Jordan VI is a reminder of the team who tormented Mike in the early part of his career.  In each of the Bad Boys’ two title runs, they sent the Bulls packing, but the third time was the charm in 1991.  That’s when MJ rocked the AJVI en route to a sweep over the Pistons in the conference finals.  So the memories are bittersweet, but this unique suede-on-patent design should satisfy any sneakerhead’s sweettooth.  These are officially slated as an April release, but you can cop them early from Sneaker XB on eBay.

Nike SB Holiday 2010 Footwear Preview

It was only a matter of time that we’d be able to obtain a look at this year’s holiday collection for Nike Skateboarding. We’ve already noticed a transition from outlandish designs to more minimal but strong colorways. No surprise to see staple models like the Dunk High and Low, Blazer and Janoski. It should be interesting to see how well the Omar Salazar signature does after getting some in-depth insight into his design concepts. Other models include the now common Bruin, Zoom Classic, P-Rod 4 and P-Rod 2.5, as well as a new version of the Nike Zoom Tre. But the burning question will be if the fat tongue will return in time for the Nike SB Holiday 2010 line-up; When Ken Imamura gave word earlier this month that “the fat tongue Dunk will ride again“, growing doubters put their faith back into Nike SB, so take a look and let us know what you think. Classics Revisited: Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 B Viotech

Before the Dunk craze, Air Maxes were the shoe of choice to design when honored with a collaboration with Nike. Take this pair of AM 1 for example; Air Max 1 B to be exact. Might be hard to recall this far down the line of their success, but this is actually Atmos’ second collab with the big Swoosh ever, way back in 2003. So long ago, Nike was still using the slender shoe boxes, like the ones they used for GS and WMNS products.

The color blocking was like most designs back then- minimal color blocking complimenting one an other. But what struck attention was the gold stitching for the Swoosh on the toebox and hell, as well as the tongue tag, but also the striking Viotech color accenting the overall look. Thus the moniker ‘Viotech Air Max 1′ stuck for years to come.  Some might also remember the Grey One Year 1 anniversary edition box designed by Dez Einswell, which was limited to only 100 pairs worldwide. Either version, some of the rarest AM 1′s to find, still known for its exclusivity and are grails to many. Be sure to continue to the HD feature.

SN March Madness Sneaker Tournament – Round 2 – Dunk SB Bracket

The first round of the SN March Madness Sneaker Tournament held no big surprises. Like in the Air Jordan bracket, all four top seeds advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. While Round 1 may not have been so unpredictable, the heavyweight competitors left standing should make for some juicy Round 2 matchups. Two infamous grails go toe to toe as the Pigeons will be challenged by the Heinekens, while the Tiffany’s look to overpower the Supreme Lows. Loyalties should be pretty spread out amongst these four, so keep reading to vote for your favorites now. Voting for all four brackets will remain open until Sunday at midnight EST.

Nike Shoe Porn T Shirt Available

Nike SB has a tongue-in-cheek (read:stash-in-pocket) take on the Dunk High SB coming this April, but even that irreverent reference didn’t prepare us for this one.  It’s not uncommon for Nike heads to rock Swoosh-inspired tees with questionable themes, but this new Nike Shoe Porn tee shirt is an in-house design.  Maybe that’s why the Nike Air Max 90 you see ‘mounting’ an Air Max 2009 is blurred out Japanese-style, but it’s more likely that someone at Nike Sportswear understands how we refer to picture-laden forum posts.  In any case, this has gotta be one of the ballsiest drops to come straight outta Beaverton, possibly ever.  Make a statement and grab your pair today from Eastbay.

Nike Air Diamond Turf White Black Red + Black Purple | Fall 2010

Deion Sanders was another big-name two-sport athlete that Nike endorsed in the 90s; Sanders possessed everything necessary for an athlete to become a successful market icon. The Nike Air Diamond Turf was easily one of the best of the 90s, with the sleek design and domineering velcro strap, and the 2004 re-release was a big thumbs up for fans of Turf trainers. 2010 will see another re-release of the OG colorway of the Turf Trainer, as we saw sample pics in our Fall 2010 Turf Trainer Preview. With the 49ers colorway already covered, we also now get a look at the OG black and purple colorway with sheer gold material that emanates the Baltimore Ravens color scheme to a tee. Look forward for these to release in Fall 2010.

Nike Zoom Skyposite Andre Iguodala PE Three Colorways

Philly’s had a new “A.I.” when the Sixers drafted Andre Iguodala out of Arizona in 2004. Some scouts dubbed him “the next Scottie Pippen” and Iggy’s perennial 20-5-5 is making those scouts look good. Check out these three colorways of the Nike Zoom Skyposite PE made up of three Philly colorways that are fit for the Wachovia Center as well as Independence Hall. Unfortunately the Sixers are doomed for yet another losing season, but these Skyposite PEs are definite wins. via NikeBasketball.

Nike Lunar Air 180 TZ Sample | First Look

Nike’s current hybrid crusade has led to both accolades and criticism, the latter consisting of claims of unoriginality and incompatibility. However, the Air Max experiments have proved to be more successful than the basketball-turned-lifestyle shoes, and this sample of a possible upcoming hybrid if the Nike Air 180 only continues that positive trend. Check out the Nike Lunar Air 180 TZ which features an identical silhouette and Ultramarine colorway of the classic Nike Air 180 implemented with a Lunar midsole, no-sew upper, and breathable upper layer. Using Lunar instead of the Free-sole seems like the obvious next-step, although one might have expected use of Flywire on the upper. Check out the images and stick to Sneaker News for more info.

whiz x mita sneakers x New Balance M576

A good portion of New Balance’s notable releases are collaborations, and this new pair is no exception.  The whiz x mita sneakers x New Balance M576 showed up just a day after NB’s latest get-up with atmos and X-girl was announced.  The ‘other’ Japanese sneaker giant facilitated these 576s with rough suede and a buncha stars, with the red heel support getting alot of attention thanks to an otherwise dark design.  There are far more whiz stars on this shoe than years they’ve been around (10), but it’s still a pretty dope way to celebrate.  These should hit mita and maybe a few select other shops very soon.  via Warp
