LeBron James can smell the NBA Finals. It’s his last contract season with the Cavs and he wants – scratch that – NEEDS to come out on top from the Eastern Conference. To do that, LeBron will wear the Nike Air Max LeBron VII P.S., opting for a new design and shedding the LeBron Zoom Soldier tradition. While these haven’t seen a confirmed stateside release (although we can guess these will come available around NBA Playoff time), Nike Harajuku in Japan is set to release both the black and white colorways on March 20th. Could this be a sign that the LeBron P.S. will become available sooner? via NikeHarajuku.

For a 71-year old guy, Rod Laver sure does move fast. We just saw previews of the newly meshed-out adidas Originals Rod Laver Vintage yesterday, and they’ve already popped up at retail. The first pair to hit is white/off-white with touches of green in just the right spots. If you’re going for a clean look this summer, there might not be anything that can top these, and you can get yours from SneakersNStuff.

DJ Clark Kent has made a nice size-13 imprint in the sneaker culture with his DJCK colorway on some classic Nikes. The 112 Pack that released a two years back showcased the now trademark combination of black, neon green, elephant print, and 3M that was absolutely “bananas” (for lack of more appropriate word). Check out the DJ Clark Kent Air Max LeBron VII that features the same 112 treament; 3M outline of the Flywire panel, a neon green full-length Air Unit, elephant print on the ankle, and trail-inspired laces tie up the loose ends. Kinda remind of you of the LeBron VII Dunkman, doesn’t it? There’s no word on a release yet, but continue reading for a refresher of the last 112 pack and let us know; which 112 release is king? via DJCK.

Introducing the reversible coat of sneakers: the new adidas Transform Pack. Both of the shoes in this duo allow you to radically change their look by taking off some parts to reveal a similar, yet different look. With the Stan Smith midtops, they come in off the streets wearing all black leather, but you can zipper off the upper to reveal a lowtop Stan Smith 80s. Not just a different color, but practically a whole different shoe!
There’s also a pair of Superstar II shell-toes, which are a bit subtler in their change. Instead of the entire upper, these just let you un-velcro the grey tongue to reveal an aqua that matches the laces and sockliner. Buy one, get two, buy two, get four; it’s a pretty awesome deal, complete with good style from Extra Butter.

In his first Nike Retro at-bat, ‘The Kid’ touched ‘em all with a Nike Air Griffey Max that drew rave reviews and made it on the Sneaker News Top 30 Sneakers of 2009. A year later, Ken Griffey Jr. will take another swing with the retro of the Nike Air Griffey Max GD II in a black/red colorway. Griffey and his original Swingman logo don the tongue-tag and heel of the black leather-uppered baseball shoe that’ll probably hit the streets more than the first-base line. The Nike Air Griffey Max GD II will step out of the batter’s box and hit Foot Locker and other Nike retailers in April 2010. via FLUL.

Deion Sanders and Penny Hardaway were the big names for Nike in the 90′s, and surely enough, we all had a pair of Pennys or Deion’s Diamond Turf Trainers. Paying homage to two of LeBron James childhood idols, the LeBron VII was fashioned in two great colorways, making up the Nike Air Max LeBron VII Heroes Pack. Penny’s pair features the trademark crackled swoosh from the Air Max Penny while Primetime’s pair features a gaudier, spotlight stealing patent leather red with gold accents. Like Deion returning an INT for a TD or Penny driving to the hole, both pairs will be out of our reach as the LeBron VII Heroes Pack will not see a public release. via TSG.

Last year, Nike Basketball released a Playoff Pack that went against the very spirit of some of its most successful forebears. It was Michael Jordan’s own Bulls who started the all-black playoff look, so seeing mostly white POP releases caused some commotion. This year, it’s a little bit closer to what the Swoosh did at this year’s NBA All Star Game: adding a texture as the common theme. On the POP releases like this Nike Zoom Kobe V, we’re looking at a triangle grid that adds an interesting touch to the yellow and purple forefoot sections. We’ve got about a month till the NBA Playoffs begin, so stick with Sneaker News for what looks to be a whole series of geometrically-infused kicks from Nike Basketball. via Kinetics

We saw several different shoes calling themselves the Nike Zoom LeBron Soldier IV, but it turned out that the very first sample was the base for an upcoming retail release. Proof that all sneakers go through design changes, the new Nike Zoom LBJ Ambassador III. In the photos after the jump, you’ll see how the sample Ambassador IIIs featured a smoother mudguard as compared to the release version that sees a cutout.
One particularly curious note in these images: the heel looks like your classic Air Max cushion, but each Ambassador thusfar has been Zoom Air-equipped (they’re also historically an Asia exclusive). Then again, that was true of the flagship LeBron James Nikes until this year, so you’ll have to check back with Sneaker News for updates. via LRJ23

Dwyane Wade has become a makeshift door-to-door (or better yet, “court-to-court”) salesman peddling the Air Jordan 2010. The “peephole” on the upper resulted in mixed reviews but here’s an instance in which the peephole plays a big role; last week, we showed you a new colorway of the Air Jordan 2010 that Wade wore in game, but here’s a better, updated look to that same pair. The shoes are the same but the color of the socks he wore were different, which give the shoes a completely different look. Check out the images after the jump to get a better look at this new colorway. via Yahoo!.

Need a new Nike Dunk Low? How about one with more different materials than colors? The latest Nike 6.0 Dunk Low is pretty standard fare from afar: just looks like black on white with green hits. Zoom in and you’ll notice that the black overlay sections are a sort of reptile’d suede, plus a ballistic nylon for the Swooshes. Summer’s coming up, so there’s seersucker on the eye plackets and a mesh tongue to keep you nice and cool. Grab a pair from Nike Six retailers including NikeStore.
