Nike SB’s newest team member Omar Salazar just had his signature shoe released not too long ago. But what makes this latest Nike SB jump up a few cool points is that he dipped his own hand in the design process. What he wanted out of Nike was based on drawings and sketches he did of his own shoe. In a nutshell? Classic and futuristic. The Nike SB Omar Salazar features a classic and rugged skate-shoe design but with Nike’s latest technology. Check out the video interview of Omar Salazar after the jump to get filled in on the design process.

It remains to be seen what LeBron James will wear this postseason. But after the NBA season ends in June, one thing is clear: expect a bunch of Nike Air Max LeBron VII (7) Low colorways. Here’s a sample pair to give you an idea of how the design has changed through time. These are identical to the first pairs we saw back in October ’09, and have seen their Air cushion Max’d to wrap around the heel for the release model. Aside from that, the main differences are the perfs and woven sections that are both replaced by smooth leather, and a gum sole that frankly, looks just as good as its icey replacement. Check out more photos after the jump, then have a look at our new Sneaker News Nike LeBron Archive. via LRJ23

Had they won the championship during last year’s Final Four run, UConn would be on a one-every-five-years schedule. As it stands, Coach Calhoun’s Huskies are done, unless you take the NIT seriously. Nike Basketball clearly does, as it’s pumping out a bunch of Hyperdunk PE heat for some other teams that looked strong early in the season, only to fade out. Appropriate, then, to see their tourney time player exclusives fade from UConn blue to white along their Flywire-equipped side panels. Stick with Sneaker News for more even more from this year’s March Madness.

The latest Nike Air Max A Lot comes to us in a colorway that’s most true to the mid-late ’90s sneakers it’s based on. Both the Air More Uptempo and Air Pippen II came in black/red palettes to match Scottie Pippen’s Chicago Bulls uniforms, so it’s only natural to see a bred Max A Lot. It’ll probably be a while before either of this sneaker’s parents are retroed again, so grab a pair of these today from Finish Line.

Unlike Georgetown, whose Jordan Brand PEs we also got a glimpse of today, Cal’s Golden Bears are the only team in their conference that’s a lock for the NCAA Tournament that starts next week. With the Pac-10 on the soft side this year, Cal marched to the regular season title and will shoot for a conference tournament trophy in these Air Jordan Icons Player Exclusives. Cal gets both white/blue and black/yellow colorups that you might see alot of over the next couple weeks. Stick with Sneaker News for more NCAA PE sneakers.

Unlike the Nike Basketball schools we’ve seen mocked by Hyperize PE colourways that faded like their seasons, almost all of Jordan Brand‘s college teams are NCAA Tournament-bound. It’s certainly a surprise that MJ’s own UNC Tar Heels are the odd man out of that group, but that means Georgetown is ready to Dance again. Fresh off an upset of then #3 Syracuse, the GU Hoyas will play out the Big East tourney and the Big Dance in these Air Jordan Icons PEs. They rely on a simple navy and white palette, plus the unmistakable ‘G’ embroidery on the outer heels. Stick with Sneaker News for more Jordan Brand NCAA PE sneakers.

Do NBA players check Sneaker News? A bunch of lesser known role players have been rocking some certified heat lately – I guess they just like the exposure. The NBA Feet heat has us seeing red; the color was the theme for the night, as Devin Brown wore a pair of the Last Shot Air Jordan XIV, Amir Johnson brought out the Varsity Red Jordan VI (again), Juwan Howard rocked the Air Jordan Icons, and Dwyane Wade wore the original colorway of the Air Jordan 2010. Check out the collection of Jordan heat after the jump. via Yahoo!.

Nike Basketball hybrid sneakers are typically given portmanteau names to signify their parents. In this case, the Nike Zoom Barcelona commemorates the birth of Nike’s Olympic colorway. The only time David Robinson and Charles Barkley were on the same team, 1992′s OG Dream Team featured Barkley in the Air Force 180 along with Mr. Robinson in the Air Ballistic Force. Each design is given its due on the Zoom Barcelona, along with a generally updated feel. Click the jump below for some more close-up shots. via Kenlu

Just a few weeks ago, Nike dropped a former Garnett sig in metallic Zinc. Now the one of his other former sigs, the Air Max 3, gets a metallic gold treatment. Formally known as the Air Garnett 3, color blocking may sound mundane, but the gold makes the unique tooling of this shoe even more distinctive. Available now at HOH locations.

The current NBA season isn’t over yet but Nike’s one to prepare in advance. Sneaker News previewed a number of upcoming Nike basketball over the last few months and some images of samples have finally surfaced. The Nike Zoom Soldier IV, super-breathable Nike Hyperfuse, Hyperdunk 2010, Air Max Hyperdunk, plus a new model, best described as an ‘updated’ version of the Nike Air 3 Garnett called the Nike Air Max Wavy which features a foam upper will all be ready to be laced up come summertime. Perhaps the most intriguing? The white pair of the Nike Shox (time for a comeback?) that seems to be laden with Flywire. Check out the images and let us know which pair you’d rock during summer-time ball. via NT.
