That the Air Jordan V has managed to upset two favorites en route to the finals of Sneaker News’ March Madness Sneaker Tournament Air Jordan region, is a testament to how much sneakerheads love the ‘Grape’ colorway. This new pair of Air Jordan Spiz’ikes comes in a colorway even the freshest prince would love: a mix of the aforementioned bright-and-fruity palette with cement grey, which was the OG hue for the elephant print you see on this pair’s heel and toes. It’s interesting to see the purple and aquatone hits contrasted with red, but somehow it all makes sense. Spiz’ikes are always an amalgam of Air Jordan classics, perhaps this one moreso than any other pair. If you like what you see, grab them a little early from West NYC or get yours now on eBay.

We’ve already seen some images and a clip of the experience with Jason Mayden at Wish, as lucky ATL attendees got to hear from the JB designer talking about the industry, as well as answering every question a sneakerhead can possibly think of. Among some of the things discussed is the passion and dedication one needs to succeed in the footwear business, OG pair upkeep, Nike Air on Jordan products, and rumors of upcoming releases like the Infrared VI pack.
Along with getting a glimpse of the 2010 Holiday Jordan line, those present also got a chance to see the impressive collection of Joerdan23, a serious collector from Nashville Tennessee. Some notable sample kicks that were on display were a pair of Jordan V’s with Agassi Tech Challenge midsoles, White/Cement Jordan III’s with ice soles, X’s with IX midsoles, and a Nike Turf Trainer with a XI midsole. Also featured were a pair of Infrared Air Jordan VI’s with alternate color blocking on the midsole and a special pair of Gentry Humphrey’s Air Jordan XIII’s. Joerdan was also the raffle winner of a 1 of 1 Jordan sample designed by Jason Mayden, with proceeds going to Haiti relief. A lot of heat in one space. Hopefully JB can provide more events like this in the future as a thank you for all of the sneaker community’s support. via TSG

SNEAKERNEWS.COM EXCLUSIVE
First there was the Dub Zero celebrating MJ’s past and future of the Air Jordan franchise. Then came the Spiz’ike recalling the success of Nike’s campaigns featuring Spike Lee as Mars Blackmon. Last year, the Sixty Plus debuted to commemorate Michael’s feats on the court whenever he scored 60+ points in a single game. It was only a matter of time that JB would follow through with another hybrid of popular Jordan models. Sneaker News gives you an exclusive look at a new upcoming model, Rare Air, which apparently brings together elements from the AJ 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Nothing else can be confirmed as of yet other than this is anticipated for this year’s already stacked roster for the holiday season. Stay tuned.

Next time your grandma calls your kicks ‘tennis shoes’, if you’re rocking Air Jordan Icons, she’s kinda right. That’s cos Dwayne Wade had to jump over a net en route to a layup just to hold off Andy Roddick in a game of celebrity H-O-R-S-E on Saturday in Key Biscayne, FL. Roddick tore out to a H-O-R to H lead thanks to a no dunking rule, but his Lacostes were no match for D-Wade jumping around every which way in a pair of white/navy Icons. Check out Wade with the between-the-legs layup and more pictures after the jump. via HoopChina

With an improbable win over the aging San Antonio Spurs, the New Jersey Nets removed themselves from a tie as the worst NBA team ever. 10 wins isn’t exactly a successful campaign, but the soon-to-be Brooklyn Nets have a bright spot in the improving play of seven-foot Chinese-born power forward Yi Jianlian. Yi has put up career best numbers in both points and rebounding next year, and you gotta wonder if his collection of player exclusives from Nike Basketball has helped at all. Here’s Yi’s Nike Hyperize PE, which aside from the ‘Yi’ scorpion logo, looks an awful lot like a UConn shoe. Neither had a winning season but both have excellent kicks, and you can see more of Yi’s Hyperizes after the jump.

You’ve seen how Omar gave his own input as to how he wanted his first signature shoe from Nike SB to look like; we wonder if he’s responsible for some of the strong colorways for some of the ZOS released or already previewed. Here’s a look at pair sporting Yellow Ochre and Del Sol, giving it nice tonal space boot look. The yellow on the sole’s planet and spaceship is also a nice accent. Available at Asian markets like Kasina, we’re bound to see these hit US retailers soon.

Royal blue is making a serious run for footwear throughout all the brands. We actually gave a preview of this specific pair of Janoski’s; right on time with its suggested release date, the blue, or Pacific Blue to be exact, takes over the entire suede and perforated upper. This is going to be a really good look for the amiable weather to come, regardless if you opt for the white or tonal blue leather laces. Get your pair now at Premier or other SB retailers.

There’s good news, and there’s bad news. The bad news is, the Nike Air Max LeBron VII x Air Jordan XI ‘Heroes Pack’ we recently previewed will *not* hit retail. Before you start looking around for something to wipe your tears, here’s the good news: there will in fact be an AML7 x AJXI, it’s just a little different than the version we’ve seen, although it’s very unlikely that these will ever release to the public either. Whereas the pair LDRS’ Ty showed off feature a white leather Swoosh, the final production model simply uses the red embroidered outline atop what appears to be a woven NFW side panel that mimics the pattern of the standard AML7 Flywire design. Not a huge difference, but it means that Ty’s are now infinitely more valuable, although DJ Clark Kent’s final production version is a closer representation of the bred AJ11s. Check out a bunch of new photos waiting for you after the jump, and stay tuned for more info just in case Nike can’t resist releasing these. via TSG

Bodega has been on a roll with their collaborative footwear. Following up on buzz they created with their installment of the Converse Poorman Weapon, the Boston crew has now teamed up with Lacoste for the shoe company’s first ever collab for the Esteban model. A simple colorway going on distressed leather for a traditional dessert boot look; but not much else can be said other than we assume there is a Native American influence by the pattern for the inner lining, and the twist of the Bodega branding including a dreamcatcher. Confirmed that only 250 pairs available worldwide, the shoes will be releasing this Saturday, April 3rd, at Bodega and other select global locations. via SF

Get your vocal cords warm, cos you’ll probably have the urge to belt out a ‘Thank you [to], Scottie Pippen!’. His first real signature shoe, the Nike Air Pippen, is ready for a nice series of retro releases for Summer 2010, the first of which was inspired by a long day’s work outside. The ‘Sunrise/Sunset’ Air Pippen Retro sees a yellow-to-red gradient on its side panel waves, a nod to ballers who run their local courts all day long. With the multicolor laces and tumbled leather upper, these are a can’t miss, so make the appropriate plans to pick these up on Friday, April 2nd from Foot Locker’s House of Hoops.

Although the Nike Air Rejuven8 was revered as a major innovation for running, it hasn’t received much recognition from sneaker community until recently with its revamp with a Lunar midsole. With solid colorblocking from the NSW Six Collection, we’re sure Nike will have confidence to push out some more colorways of the Lunar Rejuven8 Mid. And as we look into a few pages into the latest edition of Shoes Master, we see a pair that will don a tonal blue camo pattern throughout the upper. No other information at this moment, but stay up for any further details in the near future. via Gettry
