Is it Foamposite or liquid metal? This latest colorway of the Nike Air Penny III sports a vicious black and silver colorway that invokes memories of the T-1000, the unrelenting villian of Terminator 2. The Tidal Wave Foamposite on the upper resembles the T-1000 in liquid form taking shape into its human disguise. Snakeskin appears to be an emerging mini-trend for spring/summer 2010, so it’s only right to see two of the consistently freshest labels do a collab pack with a lil reptile. The latest Vans x Supreme collaboration is a pack of Chukka Boots and Old Skool lowtops, all in suede with snakeskin accents. On the Chukkas, you get scales from one eye-placket to the other, around the heel, while the Old Skools opt for snake on the Vans stripe. With so many high-profile releases dropping as of late, Vandal-A has had their hands pretty full whipping up some creative matching gear. The latest offering honors the Air Jordan 1 AJKO that just hit shelves this past weekend. Always known for taking a unique approach to their designs, this time around, Vandal-A combined the legendary Jordan kicks with another blast of 80′s nostalgia. Some purists have decried Jordan Brand, lamenting their use of the Air Jordan 1 as a Dunk-style canvas for lifestyle-oriented colorways. And even though some will still find themselves too cool for school, this is the literal foot in the mouth for most of those haters. The Air Jordan 1 ‘Foamposite’ combines two of the pillars of basketball footwear into one pearly black design. Diehard sneakerheads are all about details, and while it’s only appeared on GS and WMNS releases so far, we bet you’ve noticed Nike’s new ‘aster pink’ shade. It’s just on the pink side of infrared and has finally found a suitable home on a men’s sneaker, this new Nike Dunk High Premium. They’re done in a mix of lightly tumbled black leather and a checkered black/grey gingham fabric that gives a nice tonal look and ensures the pink pops loudly from its spot on the tongue tag. The adidas Top Ten Mid was very likely part of the reason that the Nike Air Force 1 became the default shoe for a generation. The Top Ten was released in 1979, endorsed by two handfuls of NBA players in what can be seen as the predecessor to Nike’s AF1 grouping of Moses Malone, Michael Cooper, et al. So it’s possibly overshadowed and under appreciated for its influence, but the adidas Top Ten is back in a dope navy, silver and white colorup that will demand attention today, especially from Yankee fans. We’ve witnessed some last-minute heroics this year, but it remains to be seen if any player can match Michael Jordan’s NCAA Tournament-winning jumper from back in 1982. MJ’s world-beating legacy began at UNC, so it’s only right to get a pair of Air Jordans each year rocking that unmistakable University blue.
The Air Jordan 2010, in fact, was designed to reveal just a little of that shade through the medial peepholes, no matter the colorway.
