Now you see him, now you don’t. Michael Jordan’s on-court play could be described as inhuman, as he darted through the lane, squeezed through tight double-teams, and maneuvered himself acrobatically in mid-air. Defenders were left puzzled as Jordan disappeared right before their eyes, only to see him reappear by the basket, right about to slam in another two. The Air Jordan XI 25th Anniversary pulled a similar disappearing act, as the Jumpman logo was *poof* erased from the shoe. No worries though, as the classic Air Jordan XI retains its iconic silhouette in the purest of colorways. The Air Jordan XI 25th Anniversary will officially release in the U.S. tomorrow at select Jordan retailers, but you can also pick up a pair now from godblesswkadv on eBay.

Let’s take a look back on the past week as we close out the first third of 2010. One sneakerhead took the Air Jordan VI Varsity vs. Infra controversy into his own hands, while owners of two vintage Jordans saw them crumble before their eyes. The NBA Playoffs continued its forward push, as we saw a great look at some more colorways and PEs of our favorite basketball kicks. Two classic Nike models are getting notable 2010 makeovers, and a reworked favorite gets a Bo-inspired baseball remix. Even more celebrities came out of the woodworks, but this time from an unexpected source; Robert Downey Jr. and his Iron Man 2 crew came out with some great high-tops and Forces that really had us in shock and awe. And on a lighter note, we got a look at Michael Jordan’s private jet, the real “Air Jordan”. There’s a bunch more to see, so continue reading for the top stories from the past week.

Most sneakerheads and fashion-driven people in general tend to be very detail-oriented, and that’s where NIKEiD comes in. Beaverton’s build-your-own service started online and moved into various in-store options, the craziest of which might be out at Nike Harajuku in Tokyo. New options in the NIKEiD studio there include Air Force 1 Lows with pearlized patent leather, speckled woven sections on the underlay, X and O diagram patterns like a football playbook, Heavy Metal-like pyramidally embossed leather, and of course, black magic in some new shades. Check out all the options, and if you’re in Japan, head over to Nike Harajuku to design your own.

Iron Man 2 will officially hit the U.S. box office on Friday, May 7th, so how about a huge premiere party? The entire cast of possibly the most star-studded Marvel superhero flick hit the red carpet to celebrate the release of Iron Man 2, and two notable figures of the movie, Robert Downey Jr. and screenplay writer Justin Theroux, brought out some great color-coordinated sneakers for the event.
Robert Downey Jr. showcased the Lanvin Sneaker & Accessories Pack, rocking a sweet pair of high-tops and a tie in the same blue-and-red zig-zag print, matching faultlessly with his beau Susan Downey’s stunning navy dress and red pumps. Justin Theroux, an actor who wrote the screenplay for Iron Man 2, turned some heads with two colorways of the Nike Air Force 1 – Red and Gold on the left and Grey and Blue on the right to match Iron Man and War Machine’s polished armor. Both pairs could quite possibly be Bespoke Air Force 1s, but would also be great additions if Nike ever decided to release an Iron Man/War Machine Pack. Check out the star-studded gallery after the jump and tell us which Air Force 1 stole the spotlight.

Carlos Boozer is without a doubt of the top NBA pros to have emerged from the second round of the NBA draft, but he’ll forever be remembered for allegedly breaking his word with the Cleveland front office and bolting for Utah. He missed more than half of last season but bounced back by putting up his customary 20-and-10 this season, and managed to boost those numbers a bit in the postseason. C-Booz, D-Will, and the Utah crew look to finish off the Nuggets tonight, and you’ll see Boozer wearing the Home colorway of the Nike Air Max Hyperize PE. Check out both the Home and Away PE that Nike colored up for him after the jump. via Nike Basketball.

The Air Jordan II was Michael Jordan’s go-to pair for Away games during the ’86-’87 season and the most of the Away games for the ’87-’88 season. He also showed it off during his first Dunk Contest victory. What separates this upcoming Retro from the recent slew of other Air Jordans is the return of the NIKE branding on the rear heel. Aside from the Air Jordan 1, every other Jordan was stripped of its Nike branding – and some may have expected the same fate for the Air Jordan II. The White/Red/Black Air Jordan II is set to release in just a few weeks but check out these detailed images and let us know if these original colorway Jays are a definite purchase for you. Pick them up now from Asian retailer ChapterExpress or get yours now on eBay.

Where does the Nike Huarache 2k4 belong in the Nike Kobe timeline? Many consider the Nike Huarache 2k4 – regarded as one of the best performance basketball kicks ever created – as Kobe Bryant’s first unofficial signature shoe with Nike. Of course at that time, Nike was not yet ready to launch a marketing campaign with Kobe in light of the events that occurred one night in Denver, but the footwear giant remained loyal to Kobe during that darker period of his career. Kobe did, however, wear the Huarache 2k4 during his first full NBA season as a Nike employee – and also rocked ‘em during the All-Star game, giving Kobe and Nike fans even more reason to make the H2K4 + Kobe connection.
Check out this new sample colorway of the Nike Huarache 2k4, constructed in a quasi-Lakers colorway with elephant print on the toe and heel. Kobe’s logo can be seen stitched on the inner toe, while the midsole houses a special graphic. The word ‘VIVO’ is stitched on the rear heel as a tribute to Kobe’s Vivo Foundation that was founded in August of 2006. The mission of Kobe’s Vivo Foundation is to send underprivileged youths on a nine-day excursion to Italy, giving them a chance to experience international travel – Kobe himself lived in Italy for a number of years. Check out the gallery of the Nike Huarache 2k4 Vivo Sample after the jump. via Kenlu.

Whether the LA Lakers can become the first repeat NBA champs since they did it back in 2000-02 remains to be seen, but there’s no shortage of people out there supporting them. Kobe Bryant’s #24 was again the most popular jersey in terms of sales, and Nike has done quite a few purple and gold kicks this year, and fans are still clamoring for more. This new Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke by Dijon McLeish mixes three different black/grey denims to balance out the purple and bright yellow sections that make this an undeniably Lake Show-inspired look. Dijon’s heel might be the best part, where purple and gold suede come together under a multicolored ‘NIKE AIR’ heel tab. No matter your muse, you can make a dope 1 of 1 at Nike Sportswear in NYC, just give ‘em a call to set up an appointment today.

On Wednesday night N.E.R.D., the trio known for its infusion of rock, funk, and hip-hop, performed at the The Fillmore @ Irving Plaza in New York City. Pharrell, Chad, and Shay – friends since adolescence – rocked the house without question, but we’re interested in their feet! Shay showed off a pair of the Air Jordan Spiz’ike ‘Grapes’ while Pharrell gave us a sneak peek at an upcoming Ice Cream shoe from his BBC clothing label. Chad also wore a slick pair of the Nike HTM Macropus Lite QS to round out the collection of kicks as diverse as the music trio. Continue reading for some extra backstage and performance images.
