INSA x Nike Dunk High – ETHEL 2010 – Kicks N Canvas

Some of the most historic pairs of Swooshes were the materialized ideas of creative minds that combined personal artistic tendencies with classic Nike silhouettes. For an upcoming exhibition that celebrated the top dogs of the shoe customization hobby, Kicks N Canvas is a combination of the sneaker and art subculture; the event showcases 21 artists who used all-white Nikes as blank canvases and also drew up a 50cm by 50cm piece of artwork to accompany the custom kicks.

INSA – one of the respected artists participating in Kicks N Canvas – created the Dunk ‘Ethel’ that features a pink upper with a great graphic displaying flowing lines and a fantastical graphic that resembles an exotic garden. Sneakerheads would be quick to point out the INSA x Nike Dunk High’s likeness to the U.N.K.L.E. SB Dunk High, but the obvious talent and vision that went into the Ethel would make these a classic on its own. Continue reading for a look into the special packaging and t-shirt that came alongside these great shoes, and be sure to check out the Kicks N Canvas exhibition at The Gallery in London, UK from April 9th to the 24th.
