Jay-Z headlined and shut down this year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The “best rapper alive” took a brief break from his Blueprint 3 tour to perform at one of the world’s largest music and arts festivals in Indio, California. We got a glimpse into the kicks that Jay-Z was rocking during the festival both before performing and during his performance. Prior to going on stage and bringing out his wife, Beyonce, to perform his newest single “Forever Young”, HOVA was spotted backstage with one of his favorite Nike styles, the RT1, in Dark Cinder. However when Jay did perform he decided to switch it up into the shoes that he’s been seen performing in while on his current tour, a pair of Black Radii high top sneakers. Take a look at additional pictures from the festival after the jump…

Sneakers and art are two forms of expression that have crossed paths many times before. Like an artist has his/her niche, sneakerheads find their grooves within certain colorways or styles. Foot Locker has been running a sneaker art competition with the Nike Air Max 90 as the focal point; the submissions have been narrowed down to ten awe-inspiring selections, so continue reading to take a look at the impressive collection of sneakerhead artwork, with each piece accompanied by a short description by the artist. The winning artwork will be displayed at Foot Locker retail locations in Australia and New Zealand, so your vote could play a part in a sneakerhead’s dream coming true. via SF.

Shawn Dwayne Marion aka ‘The Matrix’ was a longtime Jordan Brand baller but in the same season that JB chose Dwyane Wade as their posterboy, Marion moved over to Nike Basketball. He’s still seeing his fair share of player exclusives, however, as his Air Max Hyperfly just graced Sneaker News last week and the Nike Air Max Turnaround Shawn Marion PE is pictured above. ‘Trix rocked these clean white kicks at American Airlines Center during his Dallas Mavericks’ game 1 win against cross-state rivals, the San Antonio Spurs. The two most recent releases of the fragment design x Nike All Court Low featured two classic colorways – red and navy blue – but these three upcoming pairs leaves an all-white upper do the talking. These three upcoming colorways feature a perforated swoosh, which is a common design choice that fragment design uses, but each pair sports a different leather upper. You can see tumbled, crocskin, and a classic flat white leather upper on the three varieties. Each pair comes with a different color on the heel tab that gives each pair an additional amount of singularity. These are set for Fall/Winter 2010, so you should expect these later in the year. via shoesmaster.

Paul Rodriguez is well on his way to becoming the Michael Jordan of skateboarding, at least when it comes to annual footwear releases. His P-Rod II was successful enough to spawn a vulc-soled redux, but colorways like this will keep the spotlight on the Nike SB Zoom P-Rod III for a good while longer. This is easily one of the hottest P-Rods ever and probably one of the best looks from Nike SB in 2010, with a simple white/grey/black base completely electrified by select neon green hits. No word yet on whether these beauties will hit retailers, but you can cop a US mens size 9 sample today from dashsports33 on eBay.

Nabisco knew people were taking their Oreos apart and smashing the ‘winners’ together to make creamier cookies, so they lent their customers a hand with the Double Stuf. That’s the idea here with the Air Jordan Flight 9: take some stuff the audience will love and trust and smush it all up for easy consumption. Interestingly enough, these are at the top of most palatable Flight 9 colorways, and you’ve gotta wonder if this will be the pair that gets this design ‘in’ with sneakerheads. They’ll be out later this year, and you can cop a sample size 9 pair today from cigar0330 on eBay.

In the tomato-tomahtoe game that is this year’s lowtop LeBrons, one thing remains constant: a killer colorup can make a shoe all by itself. This new Nike LeBron VII Low is one of the most interesting colorways for a LBJ ankle cut if just because it’s not common to see this black/grey/orange combo on Bron-Bron’s kicks. This is a promising first look, then, and you can’t help but wonder how many amazing alternates and PEs we’d see if King James becomes a Knick. Stay posted for updates on these and all LeBron VII Low release dates, and you can cop this size 9 sample early from cigar0330 on eBay.
