Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Chuck It

Traditionally, a true lifestyle shoe wouldn’t really require wearing socks. Sure there are tons of shoes you can rock for a more casual look, but you end up with seriously sweaty feet within 10 minutes of walking around. Another scenario is your heels or ankles falling victim to blisters. Converse is altering its staple Chuck design to solve both of these common situations. The Chuck It is a slip-on featuring all mesh uppers in full tonal uppers for a comfy and ventilated stride. Available in a bunch of colors, this just might end up being the perfect practical solution for all your Summer plans.

Classics Revisited: Nike Air Force 1 Mark Smith Laser

Nike’s firm foundation is built upon one of innovative thinking, and it’s no wonder that Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton, OR houses a special palace called the Innovation Kitchen. One recipe that was experimented with was the concept of “tattooing” a shoe; tattoos provide an artistic touch along with a sense of individuality and commitment, so Mark Smith began the Laser Project to bring that culture into shoes. Smith has had a hand in a number of Nike and Air Jordan classics; he played an integral role in the conception of Air Jordans IX through XV, as well as the special lasering print on the Air Jordan XX. Lasering a shoe is an immensely exacting process, using special materials, finite drawing, and some state-of-the-art machinery found only in Research & Development labs. A one-piece construction of the Air Force 1 was chosen by Smith as part of the Laser Project simply due to its generous amount of surface area; the entire shoe served as a broad canvas, with the outer shoe featuring a tribalesque detail and the toe box and rear heel housing a fine lasering measured by fragments of millimeters.

Nike SB Zoom Air Stefan Janoski Unreleased 2008 Sample

The Nike SB Stefan Janoski was released in the middle of 2009 but just one year ago another unreleased prototype meant for Janoski was created. There’s no need to point out that the design for the prototype and the final release are like day and night; the unreleased version is very much like the other non-signature Nike SB that released – the Harbor, Classic, a Regime upper – so perhaps that’s why the Nike SB camp decided to trash it for good and go with a fresh design. This look-see sample obviously never made it beyond the cutting room floor but now it’s your turn to offer an opinion; did Nike SB make the right choice? Check out the detailed images and try out your luck by bidding on these used size 9s made available from lacedheat on eBay.

Collections: Spin Doctor

It’s a real treat to see sneaker collections of prominent individuals, but the beauty lies within the diversity. Not everyone collects Jays and SBs, like London’s premier hip-hop and soul DJ ‘Spin Doctor’. His collection is heavy on casual shoes; Puma Clydes, Forces, and adidas Originals make up a pretty large chunk of his stash (he prefers “Retro styles than other shoes”) but Spin Doctor loves working magic on Nike iD and has a number of personalized pairs to call his own. Continue reading for a look at his collection and don’t forget to read an in-depth UK-sneakerhead interview over at Sneaker Freaker.

Celebrity Feet: Alex Rodriguez Nike Air Force 1 Black Ice

Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees Third-baseman, was seen walking through the streets of Manhattan this week wearing a pair of the recently released Nike Air Force 1′s in Black and Ice. A-Rod, who is now being romantically tied to actress Cameron Diaz, was spotted leaving Da Silvano Restaurant in New York when the paparazzi snapped a few pictures of him. A-Rod seems to have taken a liking to the Air Force 1 style, as he was also spotted wearing a pair a few months back when he and a few of his teammates sat courtside at a New York Knicks game with Jay-Z.
