Omar Salazar Sneaker Freaker Interview

Sneaker Freaker recently sat down with Omar Salazar to discuss the R&D behind his signature shoe, the Nike SB Zoom Omar Salazar. Salazar has a very laid-back and friendly attitude, but the amount of input and personal detail he implemented into his own signature shoe says much more about Omar the Individual; from personal sketches to a space-age logo inspired by his unique autographs, the Nike SB Zoom Omar Salazar is the perfect representation of the man behind the shoe. This sit-down with Salazar covers his first days as a Nike SB Team Member, the use of Nike technology on his skate shoe, and what basketball shoe he draws parallels to, so check out Sneaker Freaker for the full interview.

New Foot Locker House of Hoops Opening in Daly City, CA

Earlier this year the Foot Locker House of Hoops opened up another home in Wayne, NJ; if you Left Coast heads are feeling left out, another HoH spot will open up next Thursday, May 27th, in Daly City, CA. The Wayne, NJ store is not a stand-alone store, but instead a special section within an already-standing Foot Locker dedicated to PEs, special releases, and other House of Hoops goodies, and the new spot might have the same set-up. This new HoH will open inside the existing Foot Locker retail store at the Serramonte Center in Daly City, CA, so be there on the Grand Opening Event which will feature a special appearance by rising star Steph Curry. Continue reading for the full flyer and additional information.

Reminder: Sneaker Con NYC Saturday, May 22nd

Spring is here and it’s time for another Sneaker Con, the sneaker culture’s leading buy/sell/trade sneaker & apparel convention. With two successful events under the belt already, Sneaker Con is poised to make its biggest splash yet with the May 22nd event going down at 151 Sullivan Street in NYC, a sprawling 10,000 square ft venue right in the heart of Soho. This time around, Sneaker Con will house forty vendors offering the most exclusive sneakers around, as well as live DJ’s spinning, a very special display and giveaway by adidas and a jaw-dropping showcase of KAWS toys from the never-before-seen private collection of Lev from Toy Tokyo. This Sneaker Con is poised to make its biggest splash yet thanks to a strong list of vendors, including some big names in the industry like Dr. Jay’s, online webstore, CitySole and sneaker boutique, Kixclusive.  If you’re near the NYC area and into sneakers, this one is not to be missed.

And as a special treat, attendees will be able to stop by the adidas booth to pick up a voucher for a free adidas x Sneaker Con shirt reedemable at Dr. Jays while supplies last.

Sneaker Con NYC
Saturday, May 22nd, 2010 – 12pm to 7pm

Nike Blazer Mid – Sail Varsity Red Black | July 2010

We got a look at the other pair from this pack yesterday, so how about a close-up inspection of the new ‘Un-Supreme’ Nike Blazer Mid.  They identify with the New York-based streetwear giant not because they were designed in collaboration, but rather they strongly resemble a previous tag-team effort from Supreme and Nike SB.  These new joints are notably different with their use of contrast stitching on the quilted leather uppers, and on this pair it’s a slick gold-on-white look that’s nicely balanced by a carbon-like metallic black on the Swooshes and Wu-scripted heel tabs.  Take a look at a bunch of images after the jump and stick with Sneaker News for updates.  via Kinstor

Air Jordan 2010 Playground Outdoor White Black Varsity Red New Images

There has never been an Air Jordan as rugged as the new Air Jordan 2010 Playground Outdoor.  Sure, we’ve seen criss-crossing straps on the AJVIII and even some ‘Ruff n Tuff’ models inspired by Paris’ Quai 54 streetball tourney, but just look at the AJ2010 Playground.  Its shotgun-gauged perforations give the look of a shoe that’d be just as capable in place of a steel-toed boot in an industrial factory, as pounding the asphalt during a pickup game.  Assuming you plan to rock these to ball instead of possibly manufacturing them, this particular pair would be right at home at Foster Beach with its Chicago ‘home’ colorup.  Enjoy some more shots of the AJ2010 Outdoor after the jump and check back with Sneaker News for their release date.  via Taobao

Nike Air 180 ND Grape Black Purple Blue

Just a few days ago Sneaker News gave you a heads up on an Infrared colorway of the Nike Air 180. Staying on the topic of colorways made famous of the Air Jordan, let’s take a look at the ‘Grape’ colorway of the Air 180, although one could argue that ‘Aqua’ would be a fitting nickname as well. You might remember seeing this colorway in our Nike Air 180 2010 Preview, and today it makes headlines again as this classic Nike shoe is now available for pre-order at endclothing. Will these drop in the states? Stick with Sneaker News and we’ll give you the low-down.

Nike Hypermax 2010 Carbon Fiber Colorways | Fall 2010

It might be easy to confuse the Nike Air Max Hyperize and Nike Hypermax 2010 considering they share a similar name, silhouette, and design elements, but they are indeed distinct from each other. Yes, you can find Flywire, a basketball-specific 360 Air Unit, a pronounced heel counter, and a high ankle cut, by the Hypermax features a one-piece carbon fiber upper and an ankle strap not found on the Air Max Hyperize. We’ve yet to see a pair worn by an NBA player, but should be a popular choice among the pros who favored the Hyperize. You can expect these to drop in the coming months, so check out these two colorways after the jump.

Nike Trainer SC 2010 White Black Silver | Available

The Nike Trainer SC 2010 is a modernized classic look in its own right, but this particular colorway might be the most timeless in the entire shoe game.  You simply can’t go wrong with a summer shoe that’s mostly white with a lil metallic silver and some black for good measure.  They’re sure to get stained up if you’re training outside, but that’s the sacrifice you make for a shoe that’ll easily pull a Bo Jackson and hit a home run as a lifestyle look as well.  Grab yours today from FinishLine.

Nike SB Zoom Omar Salazar Yellow Ochre Del Sol | Available

Omar Salazar’s personal style could be described as ‘intergalactic’, so it’s only fitting to see his Nike SB signature ready for summer looking very much like our own Sun.  The Nike SB Zoom Omar Salazar looks as good as it ever has in this superb mix of Yellow Ochre and Del Sol.  It’s hard to recall an all-yellow shoe that looked all at once this eye-catching and yet subtle; qualities that are surely related to the nice tonal effect on the upper and some balance from black and white accents.  Get your Flywire-equipped skate shoe game updated for summer 2010 and cop these today from CCS.
